Chapter 259 - 258 Throat-Slitting Maniac

Chapter 259: Chapter 258 Throat-Slitting Maniac

It was that pair of combat boots that made Yang Yi realize the danger. Why would a pair of combat boots lead Yang Yi to sense danger? It was because when Boer’s convoy was ambushed on the street, the mercenaries were wearing the same model of combat boots.

Among the five people, four were wearing new shoes. Why? The answer could only be that these people had just changed their shoes. And why would they change their shoes? It was because they needed to match their footwear with the clothes they were wearing. It would look abnormal to be dressed in sports or casual wear but have a pair of combat boots on your feet.

The reason for changing clothes, of course, was to disguise their identities.

And why hadn’t the bulky man changed his shoes? It was because his feet were too large, so large that it was impossible to find his size when buying shoes on short notice. Therefore, he had no choice but to wear old shoes. He wore a jacket on top and jeans below, but on his feet were combat boots that weren’t necessarily worn out, yet had very obvious signs of use.

Many ordinary people also wear combat boots, but the combat boots worn by ordinary people don’t have those heavy signs of use.

Therefore, when Yang Yi saw a pair of combat boots, he began to suspect these people’s identities. It sounds complicated, but it’s easy to figure out.

Yang Yi’s heart was never at ease, but he couldn’t just kill any suspicious person he saw.

So, before making a move, Yang Yi had to test them first, to find out what these people were really up to. Moreover, while probing these few, he was also creating an opportunity to get closer to them.

In the end, Yang Yi succeeded. It took him only two to three seconds to kill five people.

For Yang Yi, no matter if the enemy was an ordinary person or an expert, killing was a matter of an instant. If the opponent wasn’t as skilled as him, then his opponent would die. If the opponent was much more skilled than him, then he would die, but it definitely wouldn’t drag on for too long.

Yang Yi didn’t want to leave any survivors, not because he didn’t want to, but because he couldn’t. So, after killing the five men, Yang Yi felt no regret.

He hurried back to the door and knocked rapidly on it. Soon, Xiao Ran asked in a low voice, "Who is it?"

"It’s me, open the door."

Xiao Ran opened the door, and Yang Yi urgently whispered, "Go, quick!"

Xiao Ran didn’t ask any questions. She raced back to the bedroom to grab her large bag, while Yang Yi directly charged into Boer’s bedroom and yanked Boer up from the bed.

"What’s going on?"

"Hurry, the killer is here."

Boer, with a look of disbelief, said, "Impossible!"

Yang Yi didn’t have time to waste on words with Boer. After pushing Boer into a stumble, he angrily whispered, "Go! Hurry up."

Xiao Ran, holding a handgun, handed her large bag, which she was carrying over one shoulder, to Yang Yi. Xiao Ran then peeked outside and quickly withdrew her head, only to look again and see the five dead bodies in the corridor.

With a look of astonishment, Xiao Ran glanced at Yang Yi, who whispered, "I took care of them. Take the stairs."

Xiao Ran’s complexion turned a bit pale, unnaturally so, and she seemed to sway slightly.

Yang Yi couldn’t help but ask in a low voice, "Are you alright?"

Xiao Ran shook her head, slipped out the door, and Yang Yi passed the large bag to Boer, demanding softly, "Hold it tight, keep up."

As soon as Boer stepped out, he saw the five corpses and immediately widened his eyes. After a muffled grunt, he quickly covered his mouth with his hand.

Just then, footsteps sounded from the stairwell, quick footsteps.

According to Yang Yi’s judgment, the enemies were splitting up; some took the elevator up, some climbed the stairs, and several people were waiting outside the elevator. This way, they could ensure all passages were blocked. Those who took the elevator would arrive quickly, while those taking the stairs were a step behind, as their main task was to seal off the area.

Yang Yi drew his knife and moved beyond Xiao Ran, walking to the side of the stairwell.

Xiao Ran took out a silencer, slowly placed it in front of the gun barrel, and then twisted it quickly to attach the silencer.

Yang Yi gestured to Xiao Ran to not shoot, but to let him silently take care of it with his knife.

Xiao Ran held the gun in one hand and made a crouching gesture to Boer with the other.

Stairwells are usually emergency exits and have a fire door. Yang Yi crouched behind the fire door, and then it creaked open with a push.

The person pushing the door didn’t come out. They were bracing the door as another person with a handgun walked out.

Right in front of Yang Yi.

Yang Yi suddenly stood up, his position too advantageous; upon standing, he was directly at the side of the enemy who had just stepped out.

Yang Yi’s left hand reached over the enemy’s head to cover their mouth, then with a forceful twist of his left hand, and knife in his right, he slashed fiercely around the enemy’s neck.

Blood squirted out immediately, spraying directly onto Xiao Ran and Boer who were behind.

Xiao Ran turned ashen, her body abruptly shook twice, then she reached out to brace herself against the wall and slumped against it.

After releasing the enemy whose throat he had slit, Yang Yi dashed forward, grabbing the hand that was still pushing the door and yanked it outward. His left foot extended to block the fire door, his knife hand stabbed forward, piercing straight into the throat of the off-balance enemy.

He pulled the knife, with a bead of blood, out of the enemy and then leaped through the fire door, which had not closed due to his foot. His right knee slammed into the enemy’s stomach, knocking them to the ground.

The enemy flipped by Yang Yi’s knee strike did not lose consciousness; after falling, they quickly aimed their pistol, attempting to align it with Yang Yi’s head.

Yang Yi knelt on the enemy with one knee, his left hand deflected the enemy’s gun away, and the knife stabbed into the enemy’s neck, precisely severing their spinal cord.

Instantly fatal, without a struggle.

With no fourth person present, Yang Yi vigilantly watched the stairwell. Rising from the enemy he had pinned, he flipped the corpse over with his left hand, then yanked the knife out with his right, and made the enemy lie face down on the ground.

Only this way could Yang Yi avoid getting blood on himself.

The fire door opened, and Boer rushed in, but Xiao Ran didn’t.

Yang Yi looked perplexed; after making a silent gesture, he opened the fire door to glance at Xiao Ran.

Xiao Ran, one hand against the wall and the other holding the gun, stumbled toward him.

Xiao Ran’s face was frighteningly pale. Yang Yi whispered, "What’s wrong with you?"

Xiao Ran waved her hand, her eyes rolling upwards to look at the ceiling as she took a few quick steps and nearly fell.

Yang Yi caught Xiao Ran, then realized, "You’re not blood phobic, are you!"

Xiao Ran took a breath, avoiding looking at the corpse at her feet, and whispered, "Let’s go, let’s go, I’ll recover soon."

Yang Yi whispered, "There might still be people downstairs. How can you afford to be blood phobic?"

As Xiao Ran let Yang Yi help her down the stairs, she couldn’t help but lower her voice in anger, "Why did you have to slit his throat and let blood spray everywhere? Couldn’t you have just broken his neck? Why did it have to be the throat? There are so many fatal places on the body; why aim for the throat? Couldn’t you choose somewhere else? You, Throat-Slitting Maniac!"
