Chapter 249 - 248: Call Me Queen
Chapter 249: Chapter 248: Call Me Queen
Now, Yang Yi faced three choices. The first was to open fire, killing everyone he could see. Of course, that was basically impossible.
Another option for Yang Yi was to retreat, throw away his gun, and stay with the shop clerks, hoping that the enemies would kill Boer and leave immediately afterwards.
However, Yang Yi felt that if he were the ones wanting to kill Boer, they wouldn’t just walk away after doing so. Having committed such a serious act, why would they leave any loose ends?
The third choice was to take Boer into custody and then offer him as a gift; maybe then those people would spare his life.
In the end, Yang Yi opted for a fourth possibility, which was to do his best and leave the rest to fate.
Specifically, that meant firing his handgun indiscriminately and letting things be.
Yang Yi detested the reality of his poor marksmanship. He felt there was still time to practice, but sadly, those who wanted him dead didn’t give him the chance.
Yang Yi fired his gun. Although the target was only twenty meters away, they weren’t stationary targets. But even with poor aim, he still had to shoot.
Yang Yi fired a shot and then saw someone’s chest burst open, falling to the ground headfirst.
Yang Yi hesitated for a moment, then fired a second shot. Consequently, another person’s head splattered open like a rotten watermelon.
Confused, Yang Yi was very puzzled because he had aimed for the chest. How then did the target’s head explode?
This was luck!
Greatly exhilarated, Yang Yi fired a third shot, but the target he aimed at was unharmed. Instead, someone else raised their gun and began to shoot to the side.
Then someone fell at the doorstep with a thud, lying by the door with a grenade in hand, now with a large hole in their head.
Yang Yi was even more confused. He hadn’t hit the man, yet he had died.
Thoughts were fleeting, but Yang Yi finally understood. These people hadn’t been killed by him; someone else had done it.
"Great shooting!"
Boer shouted in a mix of surprise and delight behind Yang Yi.
Then, from outside the door came a mix of shock and anger, "A sniper..."
The voice cut off. Yang Yi was still holding his gun, shooting at the visible enemies, when he saw his target’s body twitch and then drop to one knee on the ground.
At a mere ten meters distance from the enemy, Yang Yi was relieved to find he had hit his target.
Yang Yi was sure because, under the power of his handgun, his bullet had hit the enemy’s head, leaving only a blood hole. If someone else had made the shot, half of the enemy’s head would be gone, so this shot had definitely been his.
"Nine o’clock position, take him out..."
Outside, the gunfire was intense, but it sounded like only two or three guns. Then, quickly, the gunfire stopped, quieted down.
Yang Yi’s hands began to shake, the surprise coming too quickly to handle.
Outside, there were only groans, but as soon as there was a ’pfft’ sound, the groaning ceased.
Yang Yi looked towards Boer and whispered, "Let’s go now!"
Boer shook his head and whispered back, "No, no, you go first. Don’t forget the fifty million!"
Yang Yi gritted his teeth, bitterly saying, "I might as well kill you!"
Yang Yi raised his handgun slightly, moving forward two slow steps, and then he heard the roar of an engine and a piercing screech of brakes, so he immediately retracted his head back.
Then Yang Yi heard footsteps, followed by a familiar voice shouting, "Don’t shoot, it’s me!"
As soon as the words were spoken, Xiao Ran burst in.
It was definitely Xiao Ran. However, she was wearing a hoodie, and her face was covered tightly with a headscarf.
Xiao Ran came rushing in with her HK417 at the ready.
Yang Yi’s eyes filled with excited tears, and his voice trembled, "You’ve come, you actually came... "
What is a descent of the gods, this was it, no, this was a descent of a goddess.
At that moment, Yang Yi thought Xiao Ran looked incredibly beautiful, even though he couldn’t see her face!
Xiao Ran slung the gun over her shoulder, raised her head proudly, and shouted, "Call me ’Queen’!"
"Queen!"
Yang Yi didn’t hesitate, shouting it out right away, now let alone calling her ’Queen,’ he’d have no problem calling her ’Goddess.’
Xiao Ran, with the gun resting on her shoulder, extended her left hand, showing two fingers.
Yang Yi thought Xiao Ran was making a victory gesture, but he soon realized he was wrong.
"Remember, I’ve saved you twice now."
After saying this arrogantly, Xiao Ran brought the gun back into her hands and snapped, "What are you waiting for, want to die here?"
At this moment, Boer was faster than anyone, grabbing Yang Yi and yelling, "Let’s go, the Queen is waiting for us!"
Of course, Yang Yi wasn’t willing to wait any longer; in fact, the whole conversation had taken just a few seconds. He and Boer followed Xiao Ran out of the store’s main entrance.
A few bodies lay scattered at the door.
There were seven bodies in total. Apart from the one that Yang Yi had killed, the rest had been taken out by Xiao Ran.
Xiao Ran seemed particularly anxious and shouted loudly, "You drive, quick, we need to get out of here immediately."
Yang Yi leaped into the driver’s seat, while Xiao Ran opened the left rear door and jumped into the backseat. Boer was originally planning to get into the backseat too, but as he tried to follow her in, Xiao Ran kicked him out with her foot.
"Get up front!"
Boer, without uttering a word, scrambled to the passenger seat and got in the car.
Without waiting for Boer to close the car door, Yang Yi floored the gas pedal and charged out.
"Roll down all the windows, what’s going on?"
Xiao Ran asked in a hurry, and Yang Yi also said urgently, "Someone’s trying to kill him, and I happened to catch up."
"Why does this always happen? Are you a jinx? What are you doing getting involved in these messes? Why are mercenaries involved?"
Yang Yi exclaimed, "Mercenaries? Not assassins?"
Xiao Ran snapped, "Obviously, that’s the standard fire support for a special ops team. Do you think assassins work like this? Who else could they be but mercenaries?"
Yang Yi looked at Boer and demanded, "Speak, what’s going on!"
"Clearly, someone is determined to kill me at all costs, I..."
"Get to the point!"
Boer immediately responded quickly, "Someone first tried to make it look like I died in an accident. Then they attempted an assassination. Now, they’re willing to use mercenaries to finish me off."
It was an escalation of assassination attempts, from covert to overt, but everything Boer mentioned was superfluous; even a fool could see someone was desperate to kill him.
Yang Yi didn’t have time to question Boer further, asking urgently, "Do you think we’re still in danger?"
Xiao Ran said coldly, "There were twelve individuals, a typical number for a Mercenary Group’s standard troop and firepower deployment. I’ve seen the scene; why didn’t they attack from both sides? Because they were in a hurry and launched a premature attack. If that’s the only team and they got Boer’s route right to launch an accurate attack, then we might not be in too much danger. But what if there are others? What if on every possible route that Boer might take there’s a team waiting?"
