Chapter 245: Chapter 244: Just Scared and Confused
Yang Yi had intentionally waited for several minutes before leaving the casino, understanding the maxim about being above suspicion. If someone rushed off, it definitely indicated an emergency, and who knew, there might be danger involved. Following Boer out at this time was not a good idea.
After exchanging the chips for money and transferring it to his account, Yang Yi finally pushed open the casino doors. He had waited for at least ten minutes, yet when he went out, he saw two strangers guarding the entrance of the casino.
Upon seeing Yang Yi emerge, a middle-aged man in a suit immediately stepped in front of him and politely said, "Mr. Yang, if I may, please come with me."
Yang Yi hadn’t left the casino for any particular reason, apart from the fact that it was pointless to stay after Boer had left. He wasn’t particularly fond of playing cards; his interest lay more with winning money, and besides, he was now more eager to find Zhang Yong.
But being intercepted by two people was a bit off.
Yang Yi naturally resisted being taken away by two strangers, but upon closer scrutiny, he realized these two seemed to be Boer’s bodyguards who had been following him discreetly.
"What for?"
"Please come with us for a moment, it won’t take long. Please, Mr. Yang."
Yang Yi frowned and said, "No, I have some matters to attend to and am afraid I do not have the time to go with you."
At that moment, the bodyguard who had been silent by his side suddenly aimed a handgun at Yang Yi and then covered the handgun with his clothing, speaking in a low voice, "Mr. Yang, please!"
The gun still posed a lethal threat beneath the clothing, and with the bodyguards positioned near and far, front and back, they stood so well placed that Yang Yi had no chance of resistance. This detail alone showed that these two men were no ordinary individuals.
Yang Yi exhaled and said, "It seems I have no choice, lead the way."
The two men escorted Yang Yi out of the casino politely. Along the way, although Yang Yi encountered several casino staff members, he felt he couldn’t ask for help.
Yang Yi kept looking for an opportunity to overpower the two men. If they were within his range of attack, for example, one to his left and one to his right, it would be somewhat manageable; a swift move could take down both of them.
But with one behind him at a distance of three meters, he couldn’t guarantee he could subdue him instantly, while the other could shoot him. In this situation, Yang Yi could not make any rash moves.
Yang Yi was taken into the elevator, where he was forced to face the corner. Even then, one of the men took up the farthest corner from him, and never once lowered their guns.
The elevator descended straight to the underground parking lot, not the kind found in shopping malls, but a smaller one exclusively for VIPs.
As the elevator doors opened, Yang Yi saw Boer. Boer was about to get into a Mercedes surrounded by four or five people.
When Yang Yi saw Boer, Boer also turned his head and saw him; then with a look of astonishment, he turned to Reddick and asked, "What’s this about?"
The person standing next to Yang Yi said in a low voice, "Boss, he came out less than ten minutes after you left."
Reddick scoffed and then said to Yang Yi in a stern voice, "Mr. Yang, please explain."
Yang Yi spread his hands slightly and replied calmly, "There’s nothing much to explain. Mr. Stupak left, and I lost interest in continuing the game. Moreover, I’m quite busy, so I left. What’s there to explain?"
Reddick scoffed again and then gestured with his hand, saying to the two men beside Yang Yi, "Take him to the car. Mr. Yang, please get in the car."
Boer shook his head, his brows furrowed, and said, "Tell me what’s going on, why are you asking Mr. Yang to come with us?"
After looking at Yang Yi, Reddick glanced around cautiously before saying, "He’s suspicious, Mr. Stupak, now isn’t the time to discuss this. We will take good care of Mr. Yang once we’re in a secure location."
Unable to contain himself, Yang Yi said, "Listen, whatever it is you want to do, or whatever problem you’ve encountered, it seems quite dangerous, but that has nothing to do with me. We weren’t supposed to meet if your men hadn’t brought me here by force."
Reddick ignored Yang Yi’s response and simply said to Boer, "Get in the car! Quick!"
Pushing Boer’s head down as if to shove him into the car, Reddick snapped, "Safety first! That’s our agreement. Now get in the car, and if Mr. Yang is innocent, he will understand!"
Boer glanced at Yang Yi and said helplessly while being pushed into the car by Reddick, "Be nice to Mr. Yang."
Boer was shoved into the car, and Reddick quickly got in the same vehicle. As he shut the door, he shouted, "We’re leaving this place, fast!"
Boer’s bodyguards quickly got into the cars ahead and behind, while the person next to Yang Yi pushed him, saying in a deep voice, "Please get in the car, Mr. Yang. Be careful and don’t make it difficult for us."
Yang Yi didn’t speak. He actively got into the MPV that was parked in front of him with its door open, and then two bodyguards quickly got in the car.
The driver was in the front, Yang Yi sat in the middle seat, one bodyguard was at his side, and the armed bodyguard took the seat behind him.
The MPV sped off, leaving the underground parking lot. As the car passed through the garage door, Yang Yi heard the bodyguard beside him letting out a relieved sigh.
Yang Yi couldn’t help but ask, "What’s going on?"
"Mr. Yang, please turn off your mobile phone and give it to me for safekeeping."
The question was ignored, which was one thing, but having to hand over his mobile phone as well, Yang Yi felt annoyed. Nevertheless, he reluctantly took the phone out of his pocket.
Yang Yi took out his phone, and just as he handed it to the person sitting next to him, he heard a sudden loud explosion.
The car braked sharply, and Yang Yi, who hadn’t been wearing his seatbelt, slammed hard against the back of the front seat. Then he saw the first car in the convoy had already been blown to scrap metal. Both front wheels were missing, but it still skidded forward on the momentum, sparking against the ground.
Yang Yi was thrown from his seat. By the time he crawled up and sat back down, he saw all the cars rapidly reversing, and the one he was in was no exception.
Without hesitation or command, all the cars were backing up at top speed. But just then, another loud explosion rocked the area. Yang Yi turned to look back, only to see the car behind his own had been blasted beyond recognition.
The car came to a halt but still crashed into the rear of the convoy and stopped. It was then that the last car caught fire.
Yang Yi thought he could hear noises, but seemed deaf at the same time. Everyone in the car was shouting, but he couldn’t make out what they were screaming.
Another jolt, and Yang Yi was pushed hard against the backrest of his seat as the car ahead seemed out of control, crashing into them without slowing down. Then Yang Yi felt a heat on his face as the bodyguard beside him slumped down, his head tilting and collapsing onto Yang Yi’s shoulder.
Looking at the bodyguard whose head had half disappeared, Yang Yi instinctively touched his face.
When he saw the white brain matter on his hand, Yang Yi, as if awakening from a nightmare, finally realized what had happened.
This was an attack!
This wasn’t just an assassination, it was an armed assault!
No, this wasn’t just an assault, it was an armed onslaught!
Yang Yi wasn’t slow to react, he was just stunned.
Yang Yi was only stunned, because even though he had killed people, he had never been on a battlefield.
Remember, always remember, the battlefield and killing are two different things.
Bullets pierced the car, creating a series of small holes, and the bodyguard who had been holding a gun towards Yang Yi shouted out in pain, bending over. But then a bullet hit his head, instantly ending his suffering.
The driver opened the door and jumped out. Almost simultaneously, Yang Yi opened the sliding side door. He strained to open the sliding door, then bent over and tumbled out.
This really wasn’t a scene where someone came with a gun, fired a few shots, and then ran away. This was someone shooting, and as soon as his hands hit the ground, Yang Yi’s mind flashed like lightning.
Realizing the situation he was in, the first thing Yang Yi did was roll under the car and lie down. He then began to recall some of the things Zhang Yong had taught him.
How to survive on the battlefield.
