Mike Smith said only one sentence, but it filled Yang Yi with astonishment, as he had finally encountered someone else who knew of the existence of the Grey-cloaked People.

"Come with me, we need to talk alone."

Mike stood up, gestured to Yang Yi, and then headed straight for the adjoining room.

Yang Yi glanced at Brian, then followed Mike into a very messy bedroom.

"Tell me exactly how your father died."

Yang Yi detailed everything he knew to Mike, and after hearing it all, Mike immediately said, "So, you’re saying you never received any direct information from your father, and everything you know now has been told to you by others."

"Yes."

"Tell me who he is."

"I can’t say, his identity is a secret."

"What if that person is deceiving you?"

Yang Yi thought of Li Fan, and also considered his experiences growing up after losing both parents. He then firmly stated, "He wouldn’t lie to me. If he wanted to use my identity for something, I wouldn’t be like this now. I would have learned everything I needed to learn, rather than having to find ways on my own to learn a spy’s skills."

Mike shook his head and said, "What is a spy? Must one master various professional skills to become a spy? You are wrong, numerous extremely valuable and highly influential pieces of intelligence have been obtained by ordinary people."

Yang Yi firmly said, "I understand what you’re trying to say, but the person who protected me and helped me grow wouldn’t do that, there’s no need for it."

Mike spoke indifferently, "He is a spy from Huaxia, isn’t he?"

Yang Yi did not deny, for even if he did it would be pointless, but he did not confirm Mike’s suspicion either. He only stated with conviction, "I absolutely trust him, and besides, I have no association with him anymore."

"I’ll take what you said as the truth, then tell me what you’ve been through."

Upon hearing Yang Yi’s reply, Mike Smith said with a smile, "Well, it seems you know nothing. So, what exactly is your relationship with Brian? I already know how you met before, I want to know what you plan to do next."

Without hesitation, Yang Yi said, "Brian is a very capable person. I think he can teach me a lot, and perhaps he can help me, too. I need someone like Brian to help me."

Mike let out a sigh and said, "You want to use Brian."

Yang Yi shook his head and said, "No, it’s not using. I’m currently giving him all my support, hoping that in the future he can do the same for me. So, if you must fit our relationship into a model, I think it’s a partnership."

Mike smiled, then he said with a relaxed expression, "The trouble that you urgently need to resolve now is the Destroyer, right?"

"Yes, the Destroyer. I helped Brian escape from prison, and now Brian is helping me deal with the Destroyer. I want to take down the Destroyer once and for all, and it’s a tough goal. Right now, no one but Brian can help me with that."

Mike took a long breath and said with an odd smile, "The Destroyer, that’s the assassin organization founded by a guy named Bass, mainly active in Europe, right?"

"Exactly, that’s the Destroyer."

Mike said indifferently, "What if I tell you that the Destroyer has less than ten members, that it’s just a small assassin organization. What would you think?"

Yang Yi was stunned for a moment, then he said with a trembling voice, "What did you say?"

Mike shrugged and said, "Don’t ask anymore, it is what I said. The Destroyer is just a minor assassin organization. Bass doesn’t have many people under him. You’ve been fooled by him, both you and that Danny were fooled. When you cornered Bass, he was already at his wit’s end. Just kill him and your girlfriend wouldn’t have had to stay hidden up until now and not dare to go out, and you wouldn’t still be aiming to wipe out the Destroyer, because by killing Bass, the Destroyer would have already vanished."

Yang Yi and Danny had been tricked, fooled by that Bass.

Yang Yi took a deep breath and said in a low voice, "Fuck!"

Yang Yi said softly, "Can you tell me why you faked your own death?"

Mike gave a wry smile and said, "You should be able to guess. The same situation as with your father. The Grey-cloaked People came for me, and I couldn’t work for them, so I faked my own death, disbanded my subordinates, and cut off all contact with the spy network."

Yang Yi’s heartbeat quickened. In a low voice, he said, "Why did the Grey-cloaked People come for you?"

Mike waved his hand and said, "I’ll answer that question later. For now, answer me this. You’re very frank, answering whatever I ask, which makes you seem overly forthright. Tell me, what are you thinking?"

Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "It’s simple. You’re one of the five contacts left by my father, I trust you. More importantly, I don’t have the luxury of keeping secrets at the moment. I have no choice but to trust you."

Mike smiled and said, "I like people who are frank. Come on, it’s time to have a thorough talk with Brian."
