Spy-x-War Showdown
Chapter 1365 - 1370: Speechless

Chapter 1365: Chapter 1370: Speechless

The hearing concluded, and faced with ironclad evidence, Yang Yi only had merits to his name.

But how to handle Aaron, how to reward or suppress Yang Yi, all of this would require lengthy discussions in the future to be decided.

When Yang Yi walked out of the CIA headquarters, it was already completely dark outside.

But being able to walk out of this door, instead of being asked to stay inside and virtually being under house arrest, Yang Yi was already quite content.

He looked up at the sky; ever since he had a conversation with Bruno, Yang Yi developed a habit of looking up at the sky for no reason.

Yang Yi exhaled deeply, and then he found himself a bit lost, where should he go?

Yang Yi owned luxury homes in Washington, not just one, so since things were settled, he might as well go home once.

Just as Yang Yi was considering how to return, Walter appeared.

"I knew you’d be going home today, welcome back, brother."

Walter embraced Yang Yi fiercely once more.

Walter looked very happy, and he was sincere, but for someone in the CIA’s security division, if Yang Yi truly believed Walter was particularly friendly, particularly open, and particularly valuing friendship, then he’d be a fool.

Yet, facing someone who always greeted him warmly, appearing very friendly, would naturally uplift one’s spirits.

"Thanks, brother."

"How are you getting home? Shall I take you?"

"Sure, thanks, I was indeed wondering how to get home."

The two walked to the parking lot and got into Walter’s car. After the car drove out of the CIA headquarters, Walter abruptly said, "There are a lot of people in the office actually dissatisfied with you, mainly Aaron’s people, because they lived well under Aaron. You killed Aaron, even if he was a mole, you will still incur resentment."

"There’s no way around it, this is unavoidable."

"Yeah, and the fact that Aaron was a mole can’t be made public. It’s a big scandal, so you can’t become a CIA hero anytime soon. The upper management will surely offer a reasonable explanation to the outside world, but in the operations department, your days might not be easy for a while."

People in the operations department who had ties with Aaron wouldn’t openly oppose Yang Yi, but covertly ostracizing him was inevitable. However, Yang Yi naturally wouldn’t care about these things.

What Walter was saying was essentially Porter’s viewpoint; Walter was probing Yang Yi for Porter because Yang Yi was a merited figure and couldn’t be treated unfairly. Porter was likely quite troubled, as this matter couldn’t be handled openly, nor quickly, thus Yang Yi would have to endure some grievances.

"Do you know how the upper management plans to arrange me?"

"Well, they’ve offered you a regional managerial position in Europe. How do you feel about that? Of course, if you want to work, you can go elsewhere, but I think Europe is better, could be considered as a vacation."

Yang Yi didn’t think twice and said, "Then how about the United Kingdom? Or France? Uh, I’m not very fond of Germany, but I definitely can’t go to some poor, broken places."

Walter gave a mysterious smile, then spoke quietly, "Brother, don’t you know, it’s actually fun in those remote places. But if you prefer bustling ones, there’s no problem; management will give you an appropriate arrangement."

Given Yang Yi’s age and qualifications, aiming to become the CIA’s deputy director isn’t conceivable within twenty years. But for someone his age and qualifications, being responsibile for a national intelligence station, Porter was generous, offering him the highest position attainable.

The Grey-cloaked People hoped Yang Yi would stay in the U.S. because they were strong enough in Europe, but Porter wanted to send Yang Yi abroad.

To Yang Yi, staying in the U.S. or going to Europe didn’t really matter, it genuinely didn’t matter.

Walter drove Yang Yi to his luxury home, said everything he needed to, and didn’t even step inside Yang Yi’s home.

In a large mansion, it was empty inside, managed periodically by servants, so there wasn’t much dust, but entering the room and seeing the empty living room, even though Yang Yi promptly turned on all the lights, he still felt emotionally uncomfortable.

Without even sitting, Yang Yi directly turned from the living room to the garage.

Bought his beloved cars, quite a few in number, yet hadn’t even had the chance to drive them. Especially seeing the car given to Xiao Ran, a Koenigsegg, Yang Yi felt even more agitated.

Yang Yi really wanted to go for a drive, so he grabbed a key, got into a car, and drove right out the door.

Yang Yi truly loved driving, truly loved cars, but after driving around aimlessly for a while, he suddenly realized it had been a long, long time since he drove without any purpose.

Not having a destination he had to reach, just simply cruising around, this is something Yang Yi hadn’t done in a very long time.

Still hadn’t contacted Annastasia or the cleaners, Yang Yi simply drove his car, aimlessly wandered around Washington D.C. for a large loop, then finally found a random place, parked the car, and then walked quite a distance to make a phone call.

Make a call in the car?

No way, because Yang Yi hadn’t driven his car for a long time, hadn’t checked his house or car for a long time, so having ten or eight listening devices installed in the car was pretty normal, thus how could he make a call in the car.

Made several calls, got in touch with everyone necessary, and then, Yang Yi found he had nowhere to go.

Go back to the so-called home, stay in a hotel, or where should he go?

Yang Yi didn’t hesitate for long this time, he decided to drive straight to New York.

There was still Petra waiting for him in her New York home.

It’s really quite a headache.

Though he didn’t really want to face it, what needs to be faced must be faced. Now Aaron is dead, and has established direct contact with the Grey-cloaked People, continuing to be ambiguous with Petra isn’t good for either of them, so Yang Yi thought it’s better to resolve it decisively.

He just felt a bit heavy-hearted.

Yang Yi drove all night, heading directly to New York.

By the time he arrived in New York, it was already dawn, morning.

Returning to a home he once felt very familiar, Yang Yi stood at the door, wanted to open the door and go inside but felt somewhat afraid, he was very tired, also very guilty.

Perhaps it was the great soundproofing or maybe Yang Yi was just lost in thought, but while he hesitated at the door, it suddenly opened.

Seeing Yang Yi at the door bearing a tired and conflicted look, Petra stopped, and Yang Yi froze as well.

"You’re back..."

"Yes, I’m back."

Yang Yi had been pondering all the way how to say, thinking about it all night, but now he couldn’t utter a word.

Petra didn’t think much, she directly hugged Yang Yi, and then both angry and happy, said, "You finally came back, why were you gone for so long without calling me? Do you know how much I missed you? Do you know how worried I was!"

Yang Yi sighed lightly, then patted Petra, softly saying, "Let’s... talk inside."
