Chapter 1352: Chapter 1357 Different Treatment
After eliminating the hidden danger, Yang Yi returned to the small hotel where he was staying. Most of his luggage was left at the hotel, which was essential for the upcoming journey.
When Yang Yi returned to the hotel, he began watching television while changing his disguise. The news he just witnessed was already being broadcast on TV.
Suspected terrorist attack: all four suspects were taken away by the police; currently, no one has died but all four are injured. Well, that’s a pretty perfect outcome.
The CIA’s attention will definitely be fully attracted to this, there’s no doubt about it. However, the CIA will also have a headache because their four agents were arrested by the Spanish police. It’s a scandal, an unacceptable massive scandal for the CIA. If the Spaniards have enough backbone and strength, they’d make the CIA pay a big price.
Next, Yang Yi arrived in France.
After driving all night, he arrived in Lyon, France, the next morning.
Yang Yi had to stay for a while, as Brian would meet him here and hand over the cross to him.
Yang Yi arrived first, Brian arrived later, but Brian made it to Lyon without trouble and brought the item along.
Here, the CIA was no longer a significant threat, but the threat of the Grey-cloaked People was increasing.
"Was the journey smooth?"
Brian sat down, placing a suitcase by his feet. Yang Yi nodded, saying, "Not too smooth, but some troubles were resolved. How about you?"
"Very smooth. The pressure is on your side. As long as you’re not caught, we’re safe."
Brian snapped his fingers, called for a waiter, and ordered a cup of coffee. After the coffee was served, he picked up the cup and said in a low voice, "Old Man’s mouth indeed found what you said, but the Queen didn’t."
"Didn’t?"
"Yes, didn’t." Brian seemed a bit serious, spreading his hands and saying, "There is no reason for the Grey-cloaked People to place trackers on you and the Old Man but not on the Queen. I personally think it’s the Grey-cloaked People’s... a conspiracy. They did it on purpose to make us suspicious of each other."
Yang Yi pondered for a moment and said, "I think so too. I don’t believe there’s a problem with the Queen. What did Anna say?"
"Well, she doesn’t make judgments, she only makes precautionary measures, so she had the Queen self-isolate. This issue ultimately requires you to make the decision."
Yang Yi was a bit irritable. He raised his coffee cup but immediately set it down again, shaking his head and saying softly, "How can this be? Can such a simple action by the Grey-cloaked People make us suspicious of each other?"
Brian shook his head and then whispered, "Emotionally, I, like you, think there’s no problem with the Queen, but putting aside personal feelings, Anna is right."
Yang Yi became more agitated; he said softly, "But we have no way to investigate, no way to verify. Just because there’s no tracker on the Queen, we have to suspect her as a Grey-cloaked Person? It’s ridiculous!"
There was one on Yang Yi, and one on Anton too, but Xiao Ran didn’t have a tracker. Emotionally, Yang Yi absolutely trusted Xiao Ran, but the cold reality of being a spy surfaced here. Everyone believed she was fine, but according to procedure, according to rules, a doubt is a doubt. If suspicion cannot be cleared, she cannot continue to be trusted.
Therefore, Yang Yi was annoyed, angry, and felt sorrow, but he knew Annastasia’s approach was correct, so he couldn’t vent his anger at her or accuse her of any wrongdoing.
After taking a deep breath to stabilize his emotions a little, Yang Yi asked softly, "What did the Queen say?"
"She didn’t say anything. I wasn’t present at the time so I don’t know what exactly happened. According to Anna, the Queen just cursed when she found out."
Taking another deep breath, Yang Yi nodded and said, "I understand. Let’s handle this after I meet the Grey-cloaked People."
"Shall I escort you?"
Brian obviously didn’t come alone. Having him and his team for protection, or secret protection, would definitely be safer than Yang Yi going solo.
"How many of you?"
"Three—me, Black Jack, and Stone Statue."
"Okay, you escort me to Vienna, but don’t stick too close. I’ll still travel alone; you three take another route. We’ll only meet at the agreed place in Vienna, the day after tomorrow at noon, with no specific meeting time. We’ll get in touch in Vienna."
"Alright."
After finishing his coffee, Brian stood up and left, while Yang Yi sat for a while longer.
Currently, Yang Yi felt very troubled. He still didn’t doubt Xiao Ran, but why did the Grey-cloaked People not put a tracker on her? It was quite distressing. Presumably, Xiao Ran was feeling quite frustrated now.
Being treated differently—it’s a trivial matter for ordinary people, but for Yang Yi and his group, it’s not a small matter.
But there really wasn’t much they could do now. Yang Yi felt discomfort but couldn’t tell Annastasia, "Xiao Ran is fine. I believe her, so you should unconditionally believe her too."
No one was wrong, but the result was unacceptable, which was what made Yang Yi feel most distressed.
But this really wasn’t the time to dwell on it.
Paying the bill and picking up the suitcase Brian left behind, Yang Yi returned to his safe house.
In Lyon, the Organization of Water had a safe house. Although there was only one, it was sufficient.
Returning to the safe house, Yang Yi opened the suitcase, took out the cross, and placed it in his backpack. But the suitcase contained more than just the cross; it also held some equipment he needed, which Brian had brought along as well.
The situation was developing in a positive direction.
In this safe house, Yang Yi had essentially shaken off tracking. The reason he wasn’t certain of having entirely evaded it was due to the potential of being accidentally discovered, like in Madrid where Yang Yi ran into the CIA while wandering around the city. Such incidents were just unlucky; there was no way to avoid them.
Not in a hurry to set off, Yang Yi was a bit tired from the long drive, and this safe house was his last one before reaching Vienna. Thus, Yang Yi planned to rest well before driving directly to Vienna.
Now, Yang Yi had his own car; he didn’t have to steal cars and swap them at intervals anymore. Consistently stealing cars, if someone connected the dots of the theft locations, they could roughly decipher his direction. Although the probability was low, it was something to be avoided.
While waiting, Yang Yi several times thought of calling Xiao Ran, not to question her but to comfort her. Yet, after hesitation, he finally abandoned the idea of making the call.
For now, let it be. Only by getting in touch with the Grey-cloaked People might the reason for the differential treatment of Xiao Ran be clarified. Talking about anything else was pointless, so it was better to remain silent.
