Chapter 1345: Chapter 1350: No Such Person
Annastasia led Yang Yi to a car, and she hugged Yang Yi once more.
"The pressure’s all on you now. Good luck, we’re counting on you!"
Yang Yi took a deep breath, and after parting from Annastasia, he raised his hand to wave at her, just like when two old friends part ways.
From now on, there would be no backup.
The Organization of Water was in a difficult situation, yes, very difficult.
This wasn’t a battle between two armies, as the saying goes, it was a war without the smoke of gunpowder.
Too much of the Organization of Water was exposed because their operations were vast and numerous. Even though the Organization hadn’t encountered any attacks yet—no one had systematically started killing its members—this didn’t mean nothing was happening.
It’s just that nothing seemed to be happening on the surface.
If Yang Yi failed, like if that item was discovered and taken by the Grey-cloaked People, the Grey-cloaked People would eliminate the Organization’s members one by one and seize everything it once had. Perhaps even cleaners would join this contest. No, they definitely would.
Yang Yi managed to lead the Organization of Water to its current height with lightning-fast growth. This was due to the Organization’s real strength, helped considerably by the cleaners supporting him and the Grey-cloaked People tolerating him. Yang Yi survived between the cleaners and the Grey-cloaked People and developed rapidly by playing both sides.
If the balance were broken, the Organization of Water would lose more than just wealth.
Thus, the Grey-cloaked People cannot take that item back. Yang Yi must personally hand it over to them. The Grey-cloaked People getting it would have completely different outcomes.
As long as misunderstandings can be cleared, Yang Yi can advance further. At that point, he can truly open up the situation.
If Yang Yi can pull it off.
Whether someone protects Yang Yi doesn’t matter much now, since the Organization could muster only a dozen or so people, but the Grey-cloaked People?
Therefore, Yang Yi needed to isolate all factors that might expose him to the Grey-cloaked people’s gaze.
The road ahead could only be traveled alone, but reaching Vienna and finding a person by the name of Bruno Osmo might solve Yang Yi’s critical dilemma.
Among the keywords Aaron provided before his death, the Teutonic Knights was paramount, maybe the most important clue.
The Teutonic Knights have a long history, established in 1198 in Acre and became a purely monastic order rather than a military organization by 1929.
Now, the Teutonic Knights have turned into a charity-focused organization headquartered in Vienna.
It seems Yang Yi just has to rush from Lisbon to Vienna, locate someone named Bruno at the Teutonic Knights’ headquarters, and his mission could be accomplished.
But there’s a slight problem.
A little problem.
Yang Yi opened the car, discovering the items inside, prepared by Annastasia for him, including everything he might need, and on top was a crucial sheet of paper.
A list, with phone numbers and addresses, but the problem lay here.
No Bruno Osmo could be found on the list.
The members of the Teutonic Knights are publicly known. Joining the Teutonic Knights usually makes someone easy to trace, far from secretive.
Yet the list was blank except for a handwritten note by Annastasia.
"At Vienna, there’s no Bruno Osmo at the Teutonic Knights’ headquarters, nor within the Teutonic Knights."
Holding the note stunned Yang Yi—the result was that the person couldn’t be found.
Aaron mentioned who to find but not how. Yang Yi originally thought this wouldn’t be difficult, but now, even after reaching Vienna, finding Bruno wouldn’t be straightforward and would require further searching.
Where did it go wrong? Given Aaron’s situation, it seemed impossible he’d waste time on trivial babble. For something so crucial as finding a contact, he ought to have instructed clearly.
Aaron didn’t specify how to find Bruno, only insisting he must be found, which usually implies the person is easy to locate, even without hints—a belief Yang Yi held.
But the result was not finding him or tracing him anywhere.
Yang Yi hadn’t reached Vienna yet; possibly, once there, he’d find this person effortlessly.
Moreover, a tiny issue arose: the Teutonic Knights have been renamed the German Knights.
The German Knights are an overt group with no secrets untold. Most treat the German Knights as synonymous with the Teutonic Knights—like changing a person’s name but remaining the same individual.
However, this made Yang Yi uneasy. Given no trace of this person within the understood Teutonic Knights, he had to consider other possibilities.
Suppose the Teutonic Knights are precisely that—unchanged to the German Knights. Could that be possible?
Neither Yang Yi nor Aaron was lax in speech. As a spy, they had to be precise. Ambiguous words couldn’t be applied to conveying critically important last words.
Opening the trunk, studying the note, then closing the trunk lid, in that brief interval, Yang Yi’s mind overflowed with thoughts.
Speeding to Vienna was imperative since further exploration and screening could only commence upon arrival.
Now, Yang Yi already had a relatively precise search scope, still believing Bruno was not hard to find; otherwise, Aaron would have outlined how to make contact.
If this turned into a movie cliché, intentionally mystifying to heighten suspense—say, Yang Yi overlooked the Teutonic Knights’ renaming or failed to organize a pre-survey for Bruno—it would label him unprofessional. Reaching Vienna, finding the current German Knights’ headquarters without locating Bruno, meanwhile exposing himself, would imply he deserved whatever fate brought.
An adept fighter leaves no illustrious deeds.
Even though Yang Yi currently lacked clues, he clearly knew the places to seek. Analyzing before acting is far more crucial than wielding excellent marksmanship for a spy.
"Vienna, Vienna..."
Yang Yi glanced at the map, muttered twice, pondered for a moment, then put down the map and started the car.
