Chapter 1298: Chapter 1303 Disagreement
The people guarding Anton and Azar must not be just any small characters in ISIS, but definitely not any remarkable figures.
As a somewhat important minor figure, he would certainly think more about Anton’s words, fearing that he might mess up big things.
As for those truly insignificant characters who just obey orders, small soldiers who don’t have to worry about anything else, if Anton keeps babbling like this, a rifle butt might have smashed over long ago.
So, if you want to bluff, you must at least choose the right person.
"Wait a moment."
This time Anton didn’t say more, he went back inside and said to the anxious-looking Azar, "It’s okay, someone will come to see us, or let us meet him."
Azar could still judge the situation, he nodded but hesitated to speak.
"What do you want to say? At this point, is there anything we can say openly? I think we’re all in the same boat. If the ISIS ship sinks, at least you and I will be out of luck."
After Anton finished speaking, Azar hesitated for a moment and finally whispered, "I might not be able to get to Baghdad within the specified time."
Anton was quite surprised, Azar spread his hands and whispered, "If I’m stuck here too long, it could be miserable when I return. Um, His Highness doesn’t like to wait."
Anton didn’t want to say anything anymore, having nothing to say.
Azar could only worry alone. After a while, the door was knocked on, and the guard who had been threatened and bribed by Anton politely said, "Please come with me."
No mention of who wanted to see them, Anton was very curious because he finally had the opportunity to meet the ISIS high-level members.
After walking quite a distance, Anton and his group were brought to a small room where there were already eight people, six wearing black robes, one in tactical gear, and one wearing a white robe with a checkered headscarf.
Anton immediately saw there were two Westerners among them; as for those wearing black robes, they were Middle Eastern. Although the difference in appearance wasn’t very big, Anton could easily tell.
When Anton and Azar walked into the room, the crowd that had been arguing suddenly fell silent, and everyone’s attention turned to them.
"What’s the situation now? Who can tell me what happened to Baghdadi, what trouble he’s in!"
The few exchanged glances, but no one answered Azar’s question. Azar became somewhat impatient and exclaimed loudly, "Do you intend to conceal things at this point?"
Anton coughed lightly, then said in a deep voice, "Everyone, if Baghdadi is dead, have you considered who will take over?"
Anton’s question was too sharp, making the arguing few become unnatural immediately, and then the only person wearing tactical gear coldly said, "Baghdadi deservedly hasn’t died yet!"
Anton signaled with his hand, then calmly continued, "If he hasn’t died, then what’s the situation now? Don’t tell me he was captured alive, I don’t know what you are thinking, what considerations make you intend to keep it from us, but folks, I need to tell you a fact."
Anton took two steps forward, placing his hand on the room’s only table, and said sternly, "Everyone knows how significant ISIS’s influence in the world is now, and you should be aware of your image. I dare not say how serious the consequences would be if Baghdadi died, what kind of blow ISIS would suffer, but if Baghdadi was indeed captured alive, then cutting off support for ISIS... this you can surely understand."
After finishing coldly, Anton withdrew his hand from the table, continuing coldly, "Now, tell me what exactly happened. If you still intend to conceal it, I will turn around and leave immediately and promise to never ask about anything that happens here, because your attitude makes me very angry, so I won’t give you a second chance. Folks, don’t make me remind you who I represent here!"
"Baghdadi... was captured, but we shot down the enemy’s plane. Baghdadi is still alive, taken into Mujahid Mosque, just inside it."
The one in tactical gear gestured towards the window, then continued in a deep voice, "Baghdadi isn’t dead, I’m very certain of it."
"But he was taken! He was captured alive, now we must launch an attack immediately! Baghdadi’s safety is very important, the most important! But he can’t be returned, we have to storm in and rescue him!"
The speaker, a man with a long gray-streaked goatee dressed in black robes, appeared very concerned about Baghdadi, but Anton immediately knew he hoped Baghdadi would die.
The one in tactical gear continued to face Anton, saying, "We will rescue Baghdadi intact, ensure his extraction perfect; the enemy won’t escape, none of them will escape, since they can’t escape, absolutely no secrets will leak out, and!"
After pausing, the person in tactical gear confidently said, "Baghdadi is a tough guy, he absolutely, absolutely, absolutely won’t betray anyone!"
Azar hurriedly said, "Then what are we waiting for? Launch an attack and rescue Baghdadi!"
The atmosphere became slightly awkward, and then that old man with a gray-streaked beard said deeply, "We have launched many attacks, many have died, but we can’t get close to the mosque, can’t get in."
Azar had a look of incredulity and said, "You have tens of thousands here, how many does the enemy have? How many do they have?"
"Around ten..."
The speaker seemed embarrassed, after speaking immediately continued, "Ten-odd individuals, close to twenty people, not even thirty!"
"Exactly, how many!"
Anton couldn’t hear any more, truly couldn’t hear any more, though inwardly smirking, he had to remain somewhat normal outwardly.
"No more than fifteen."
The one wearing tactical gear frowned and said, "No more than fifteen people, but exceedingly... difficult to deal with."
"We can absolutely storm in! It doesn’t matter how many are inside!"
The gray-streaked beard man appeared very animated and angry, shouting loudly, "We have cannons! Cannons! A few shell hits and everything is settled!"
Indeed, cannons, a few cannon shots and every problem resolved, but Baghdadi would surely perish.
The one in tactical gear looked towards Anton and Azar, whispering, "What do the two of you mean?"
Before Azar could respond, Anton promptly said, "Baghdadi cannot die!"
Azar hesitated for a moment, finally nodded, and said, "If possible, of course, best to ensure his safety, best to rescue him."
The one in tactical gear exhaled a sigh, nodded, and said, "Very good, very good, then..."
Mid-sentence, the one in tactical gear suddenly turned his gun to face the gray-streaked beard man’s forehead and fired a shot, and as the gunshot echoed, the person fell, then calmly said, "Now, there’s no dissenting opinion."
