Chapter 127: Chapter 126: Prison Break
"I stole your cigarettes, but I didn’t smoke them, I used the butts to make a key."
Hank looked up at Yang Yi, crying, "I just wanted to remove the shackles, I’m sorry, I’ve worn them for so long, it’s too painful."
Hank looked pitifully miserable, and had one not known what he had just done, it would certainly be thought that Hank was the poor victim.
When Hank put on a particularly pitiable appearance, it truly seemed very, very pitiful, but Yang Yi still remembered Hank’s extremely vicious profile, so he was certain that Hank had wanted to kill him at that moment.
That’s why Yang Yi won’t pity Hank, he was merely curious.
"But the keyhole was sealed with lead, how did you manage that?"
Hank whispered, "You have a lot of lighters, I used one of your blowtorch lighters to melt the lead, I caught the dripping molten lead with tobacco, and then I threw the tobacco into the toilet and flushed it away, leaving a little bit of lead skin on top to make it look like the seal hadn’t been tampered with, then, I used the key to open the shackles."
Yang Yi secured the shackles and tossed them to Hank, saying, "Do it again for me to see."
Hank took the shackles, then he pulled out a black object from his pocket, inserted it into the keyhole, just a gentle turn, and with a click, the shackles opened.
Yang Yi asked curiously, "How did you make a key out of cigarette butts?"
"It’s quite simple, the shape of handcuff and shackle keys is fixed, only varying in size, you just have to strip the paper off a few cigarette butts, then heat them with fire, and it’s quite easy to shape them into keys."
Yang Yi nodded, then he took back Hank’s shackles, examined the rather crude but functional key, and smiled at Hank, "You wanted to kill me, starting from when?"
Hank shook his head repeatedly, "No, no, I didn’t want to kill you, I really don’t want and dare not to kill."
Yang Yi’s smile faded, and he said sternly, "Hank! I’m asking you why you wanted to kill me, not whether you wanted to or not. So, answer my question."
Hank looked up at Yang Yi, his lips moving for a long time, then finally said, "I don’t want to be bullied."
Yang Yi found it hard to believe, speaking in a serious tone, "Is that all? Is that the only reason?"
"Isn’t that enough?"
Hank finally retorted Yang Yi, then immediately lowered his voice, "I’ll never dare to do it again, I’m sorry, I really was just confused for a moment."
"Enough, stop saying meaningless words."
Yang Yi stood up, he walked in front of Hank.
"You’re a tough guy, you’re very good at acting, and deceiving people, daring to kill as a thief, which surprised me, if you always acted like a pushover, I would look down on you, but now that you wanted to kill me, I actually respect you more."
Hank shook his head repeatedly, then with a pleading face, he said; "Please spare me, I beg you, please spare me this once. I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die..."
Hank began to cry again, Yang Yi scoffed, "Shut up, put away this act, it’s useless on me, I’m currently pondering a problem, I can’t figure out if you’re a fickle and treacherous little man, or a man capable of bending and standing tall."
Hank cautiously asked, "What do you mean by that?"
"It means I’ve started to appreciate you,"
Hank received an unexpected answer as Yang Yi smiled and said, "I won’t treat you as a newbie who needs to follow rules anymore. I’ll regard you as someone truly useful. After we get out, keep following me and teach me what you know well, and I will protect you, making sure no one dares to bully you."
Hank didn’t show ecstasy but asked with particular caution, "What do you mean by ’after we get out’?"
Yang Yi chuckled, "You wanted to kill me, I can spare your life, but you can’t escape the necessary punishment, so I hope you’re strong enough."
Fear showed on Hank’s face, and then he shouted loudly, "What are you trying to do?"
Without answering Hank’s question, Yang Yi walked to the prison cell door, smiled faintly at Hank still kneeling on the ground, then he grabbed the iron bars of the cell door and pulled them to one side.
The cell door slid open without making the slightest noise.
Hank’s eyes suddenly widened as Yang Yi approached him. Hank shouted angrily, "This is a conspiracy!"
Yang Yi grabbed Hank by the throat, dragged him up, and then pushed him forcefully out of the cell. He laughed sincerely and then shouted loudly, "There’s a prison escape!"
Hank fell outside of the cell, but he immediately struggled to stand up and tried to get back inside the cell. Unfortunately, right then, Yang Yi had already shut the cell door.
"Damn it! This is all a conspiracy! You want to kill me, you damned bastards! Son of a bitch, fuck you!"
Hank clutched at the cell door and bellowed in fury, while Yang Yi shouted again, "He’s trying to kill me, he’s escaping from prison!"
While shouting, Yang Yi also shook the shackles in his hand.
Hank was a lock expert, a great thief, who had just successfully escaped from prison once. Now his shackles were already off, and he was outside the cell.
Was this a frame-up? Indeed, it was a frame-up, but it was one with irrefutable evidence and clear facts. So even if everyone knew it was a set-up, Hank couldn’t shake off the charges of escaping from prison.
Hank was in despair, for a repeat offender who had escaped from prison multiple times, he couldn’t expect a lenient sentence. It was possible that this escape could turn his twelve-year sentence into life imprisonment.
The guards quickly arrived, Hank let go of the bars and lay down on the ground with his head in his hands, making no sound at all.
The guards were both shocked and angry. Even though Hank was already lying on the ground, the guards’ batons still came crashing down.
Yang Yi, holding his shackles, shouted, "Hey, officer, he unlocked his own shackles and the cell door trying to run away, and he tried to kill me. I almost got beaten to death by him. My head hurts so bad; he hit me on the head with this."
Yang Yi passed the shackles through the bars, and the guard took the shackles, then looked at the cell door, utterly puzzled, "How the hell did he do it? Fuck! How did you do it!"
The guard’s baton descended once more, while Hank remained silent. Yang Yi softly said, "Hey, hey, stop hitting him, you’ll kill him if you keep it up. Man, you’ve just earned a merit, better report this news to the higher-ups quickly."
The guard glanced at Yang Yi, nodded, and then, along with his colleague, dragged Hank away quickly.
The cell door seemed shut, but after the guards left, Yang Yi quickly opened a small gap in the door and took out the little box he had hidden, then shut the cell door again.
This time, Yang Yi could sleep soundly until morning.
