Chapter 125 - 124 Perfect Plan
Chapter 125: Chapter 124 Perfect Plan
Yang Yi tossed the lighter onto the bed, then the half-pack of cigarettes, and his little knife too, which he placed under the bedding.
After doing all that in front of Hank, and giving Hank another smile, Yang Yi left with the prison guard.
The so-called medical treatment was just an excuse for Owen to meet with Yang Yi.
Finally seeing Owen again and sending the prison guard away, Owen immediately asked, "How do you feel about your new cellmate?"
"Not bad, he seems to be the key."
"That’s right, his nickname is ’Key,’ and indeed, he plays the role of a key."
Confirming Yang Yi’s guess, Owen then said with a serious face, "When will I receive the money?"
Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "As soon as I get into the special ward and meet the person I’m supposed to, I’ll give you the money. We’ve worked together before, you should trust my reputation."
Owen wiped his forehead, then said in a low voice, "I’m resigning in twenty-two days. Before I leave, the money must be in my account!"
"There’s no problem with my money."
Owen exhaled and whispered, "I’ve been looking for an opportunity, and that escapee is it. Listen, the new warden is about to take office, and my replacement will assume the role at the same time. I will arrange for you to get in before they arrive, but you must guarantee to make your move only three months after I leave! I don’t want anyone to think that I had anything to do with your actions."
Yang Yi replied solemnly, "Don’t worry, my motto is credibility first."
Owen sighed and said, "No risk, no reward. I’m staking my career on your credibility. I hope ’credibility first’ is indeed your motto. I won’t inquire about any of your affairs, but you’d better not screw me over either. Now, let me tell you what you need to do."
Yang Yi looked at Owen, who stepped closer and whispered, "That Hank, he’s key. In the next few days, find an excuse to say he’s planning an escape, then subdue him and report to the guards. After that, you’ll have made a merit."
"Be an informant? Then what?"
"Then, you’ll get an opportunity to work, in the special ward. Understand?"
"Understood, very good. And then?"
"And then? There’s no ’then.’ The rest is up to you. I can only do so much. Listen, reporting just any prisoner for planning an escape won’t be believed, because no inmate is foolish enough to try escaping from here. Hank is different; he has already successfully escaped and has the experience. Most importantly, the prison system hates escapees the most."
"Is there such a thing as a reason behind this?"
"Of course. What’s the greatest merit in prison? Exposing other prisoners’ escape plots, of course. If it’s preventing someone else’s escape, that’s perfect. Hank has the capability to escape, and if you stop him, you deserve a reward. Bestowing an order for a job to you after such a decision won’t raise any suspicions."
Realization dawned on Yang Yi, and he said to Owen, "Perfect plan, but how will Hank escape?"
Owen pulled out a small box from his pocket, about the size of a pack of chewing gum but much thinner, only about five millimeters thick.
"A jammer, it can disrupt the cell door locking signal. Place this in the lock of the cell door, and it’ll prevent the door from locking without triggering an alarm. Then, find the right time to push that guy out, and you know the rest, right?"
Yang Yi took the box and chuckled, "This really is a perfect plan."
Owen also smiled proudly and said, "Guess who discovered this loophole? Hank, it was him. He made a similar device last time and escaped from prison. Now, let him taste his own invention. No guard likes an escapee, and I am no exception."
Yang Yi slipped the box into his pocket and smiled, "Sure, I’ll make sure he enjoys it."
Owen, looking very pleased, made a gesture and said, "This is God’s will. Hank appeared just when I needed him most, haha, everything is perfect. Alright, you should head back now. Goodbye, and don’t forget your promise."
With a weapon in his possession, Yang Yi happily returned to his cell.
Hank obediently stood at the corner of the wall rather than lying down on the bed to rest.
Sitting on his bed and looking at Hank again, Yang Yi’s gaze seemed somewhat odd.
Hank became more and more flustered until Yang Yi picked up the cigarette case thrown onto the bed and checked the remaining cigarettes inside.
"You’ve been smoking my cigarettes?"
"No, definitely not!"
With a smile, Yang Yi stood up, lifted the cloth covering his wealth, and took out a half full packet of cigarettes after checking beneath.
Yang Yi had many half full packets of cigarettes, but seeing the one he picked up, Hank’s face immediately turned pale.
"You have a serious nicotine addiction, huh? You smoked four of my cigarettes in just a short time, or did you hide them?"
Hank dropped to his knees with a thud and said with a face full of regret, "I’m sorry! I really couldn’t hold back, I smoked them, all of them. I only meant to smoke one, but I couldn’t resist! I’m sorry, so sorry!"
Yang Yi sat back on the bed, looking distressed, and said, "Now, what should I do to punish you?"
Hank’s tears started to flow as he sobbed, "Don’t hit me, please. Just scold me as much as you want, it’s all my fault, entirely my fault."
"Scold you? No, no, no, I don’t like to scold people, I prefer hitting them."
"Don’t hit me, please don’t hit me again. I can’t take it anymore, I’m willing to do anything to atone for my sin! Please, don’t hit me..."
Yang Yi hated seeing a grown man cry his eyes out, but watching Hank cry so miserably, he couldn’t bring himself to lay a hand on him.
"Alright, I won’t hit you. You can just sleep on the floor until I’m not angry anymore."
Hank immediately said with a trembling voice, "Thank you, thank you, boss. You are truly a generous boss, I’m so grateful to you."
Before much more could be said, the dinner bell rang. Yang Yi stood up and smiled at Hank, "Stand in the corner, don’t look around, and skip dinner tonight to learn your lesson."
Dinner didn’t take long, and Yang Yi quickly returned to the cell after eating. Upon his return, he found that Hank was indeed still obediently standing there.
Yang Yi stood at the cell door and, seeing Hank hadn’t moved, immediately took out the small, card-like jammer and slipped it into the keyhole of the cell door, which was designed to slide smoothly into the wall and lock. If not locked, it would trigger an alarm, but with the jammer in place, there would be no sound.
Actually, Yang Yi hadn’t planned to take action tonight, but he still had to test whether the device was effective or not.
If it worked, great; if not, it would set off the alarm, in which case, he might as well simply push someone out—either way, it wouldn’t hold him up.
