Chapter 1208: Chapter 1213: Generously Going to Death

Elvin probably wouldn’t come, or he might send someone casually, as Yang Yi had already arranged with Elvin beforehand.

As long as Yang Yi treated whoever he saw as if they were Elvin, it wouldn’t make a difference. After all, Aaron didn’t know who Elvin really was, making it surprisingly simple to pull this off.

Of course, the key was to leave no witnesses for the Grey-cloaked People.

Everything was prepared. Now, it was just a matter of waiting for Elvin to show up.

Yang Yi and Aaron stayed in the hospital room, waiting patiently. Finally, at 7:20 PM, Elvin called.

"Hey, want to come out for a cup of coffee?"

Yang Yi exchanged a glance with Aaron and replied, "Of course."

"Alright, 8 o’clock at the Starbucks near the hospital. Would that work for you? If it’s inconvenient, we can pick another place."

"Oh, that’s fine. I can move around just fine. See you at eight."

"Wait a second, is Bonnie there?"

Yang Yi immediately looked at Aaron, who nodded. Yang Yi quickly followed up, "She’s here, right outside. Do you need me to call her in?"

Elvin paused briefly before replying, "Oh, no need. Let’s forget it. We’ll all meet together. Yeah, we’ll talk in person. Goodbye."

"Goodbye."

After hanging up the phone, Yang Yi turned to Aaron urgently. "Call Bonnie in, quick!"

Aaron got up, went to the door, and soon Keaton and Bonnie entered the room.

Yang Yi looked at Bonnie, then waved Keaton away. Keaton glanced at Aaron, who smiled and said, "We’ll leave you two alone."

Aaron and Keaton left together.

Bonnie walked up to Yang Yi. The two exchanged a long, silent look before Bonnie let out a soft sigh.

Yang Yi said in a low voice, "I must get revenge. I really don’t want to hurt you. When I meet Elvin later, if you don’t want to go, you don’t have to. But you must cut ties with the Cleaners. I don’t want you to die..."

Bonnie replied despairingly, "Have you truly... made up your mind?"

Yang Yi, wearing an expression of deep sorrow, answered, "There’s no turning back."

Bonnie let out another faint sigh before murmuring, "If I don’t go, Elvin will get suspicious. You’re injured, so I’ll push the wheelchair."

Yang Yi stared at Bonnie in silence, and she opened her arms, gently embracing him. Leaning closer, she whispered, "I have no way back either..."

Yang Yi, speaking softly, said, "If I fail, you’ll die. If I succeed, we’ll continue forward together. But I, I..."

Bonnie pressed her hand gently over Yang Yi’s mouth, her voice low. "Don’t speak. Don’t say it! I don’t care, just don’t say it!"

Yang Yi took a deep breath, nodded, and then raised his voice. "Officer!"

Aaron opened the door and stepped in with a smile. "All settled?"

Yang Yi said quietly, "Bonnie will go with me. I trust her."

Aaron seemed slightly hesitant. Yang Yi said decisively, "You must trust her too."

Aaron nodded and exhaled. "Alright, meet at 8. Do you need anything? Should you bring a weapon?"

"No need."

Time was tight. Aaron turned to Keaton and ordered, "Prepare the wheelchair. Also, get some clothes and makeup for this beautiful lady; she looks a bit too worn down."

Yang Yi glanced at Bonnie and said, "Looking worn is natural. No need for makeup, but clothes do need to be changed. Elvin knows she changes her clothes every day."

Bonnie murmured, "Something practical for moving around and taking care of people. Hmm, no, I don’t want to change. Ever since he got hurt, I haven’t exactly been in the mood to change clothes."

Aaron smiled. "Your call. Get ready, then."

Keaton turned and left, while Aaron smiled at Yang Yi again. "The rest is up to you. I won’t interfere. Good luck."

Twenty minutes later, Yang Yi was seated in a wheelchair, with Bonnie pushing him out of the hospital to a nearby coffee shop.

The shop was crowded. Yang Yi and Bonnie sat at a table for four. Yang Yi quietly scanned the people around him but couldn’t figure out which one was a subordinate of Aaron’s.

The environment was noisy, not ideal for a meeting, especially with Yang Yi in a wheelchair, making him more conspicuous. But since Elvin had chosen this place, he must’ve had his reasons.

In fact, Yang Yi didn’t think Elvin would show up at all. But it didn’t matter who sat across from him; Yang Yi would treat them as if they were Elvin.

At 7:59 PM, the door of the cafe opened again. A man in a trench coat scanned the crowd before striding straight towards Yang Yi.

Yang Yi’s expression didn’t betray anything, but internally, his mind was in turmoil.

It was Elvin.

Didn’t Elvin know the Grey-cloaked People had already monitored this place?

Didn’t Elvin know that coming here meant he wouldn’t leave?

Of course, he knew. He absolutely knew!

So Elvin came, fully intending not to leave.

Elvin was ruthless. He understood he was the sacrifice, one of the prices the Cleaners had to pay!

Yang Yi was genuinely stunned. No, he was in awe of Elvin, in awe of the Cleaners.

What kind of organization was the Cleaners, to make someone willingly give their life for it?

Elvin sat across from Yang Yi and spoke directly. "Your injury was a misunderstanding because... Gong Yang is also one of our clients, and the ones protecting him are completely disconnected from us."

As he spoke, Elvin’s gaze rested on Yang Yi.

His eyes were sad, yet filled with resolve.

Yang Yi locked eyes with him and replied solemnly, "Three of us nearly died, and now you’re telling me it was all a misunderstanding?"

Elvin leaned forward, his face sincere. "It was a tragedy, and it truly was a misunderstanding. By the time I got the information, it was too late. You should’ve told me earlier that you were targeting Gong Yang."

What Elvin said and what his eyes conveyed were two completely different things.

Yang Yi’s gaze reflected sorrow, reluctance, and anger.

Why did Elvin come in person? Just to make the act more convincing?

The Grey-cloaked People had likely launched their assault on the Cleaners the moment Elvin sat across from Yang Yi.

Do it, end it quickly!

Yang Yi tried to convey his thoughts through subtle eye contact and whispered, "But the price I paid was too steep!"

Elvin said slowly, "In our line of work, there’s always a price to pay. But I’ll do my best to compensate for your losses. In any case..."

Elvin took a deep breath, the sorrow in his eyes flashing briefly, and then he said softly, "But I still have to finish what I must do."

Yang Yi understood what Elvin meant. Elvin wouldn’t commit suicide. He was letting himself be captured alive, willingly being taken by the Grey-cloaked People.

Yang Yi didn’t know what to say. He really couldn’t say anything. He just stared quietly at Elvin until Keaton appeared behind him.

Sorrow glimmered in Yang Yi’s eyes. Elvin noticed it, and a faint smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. Then, his expression froze abruptly, and the light in his eyes disappeared as he slumped forward onto the table.

Keaton exhaled deeply, nodded subtly at Yang Yi, and then spoke into the air, "Target neutralized!"
