Chapter 1207: Chapter 1212: All Premises

The Grey-cloaked People need to urgently launch an ambush against the Cleaners.

After obtaining intelligence, laying a long-term plan to bait them is impossible, because once the Cleaners realize Yang Yi has defected, they’ll inevitably switch their communication methods urgently and recall all potentially exposed personnel.

Another possibility is that the Cleaners have already suspected Yang Yi of betrayal, and they’ve modified their previous contact methods. In that case, even if Yang Yi betrays the Cleaners, the Grey-cloaked People won’t gain any significant advantage.

Of course, there’s also the issue of whether the Cleaners deliberately sacrificed Yang Yi to protect Gong Yang. If that’s the case, Yang Yi’s foundation for betrayal doesn’t exist anymore. Any secret organization facing potential betrayal would first eliminate the threat. Even if they can’t immediately kill Yang Yi, at the very least, they would take protective measures.

So if the Cleaners have already decided to abandon Yang Yi and haven’t managed to eliminate him right away, they would logically withdraw all potentially exposed personnel.

Still, there’s a reasonable explanation that could ensure the Grey-cloaked People don’t suspect this loss was intentional on the Cleaners’ part.

That is, the team protecting Gong Yang and Yang Yi’s team are unaware of each other’s existence.

Yang Yi keeps insisting that the Cleaners have abandoned him, but this could just be his emotional outburst. If the Cleaners themselves didn’t realize this mix-up between their two clients, it’s a situation that can still be understood and accepted.

Ultimately, everything hinges on whether the Grey-cloaked People can secure a major win against the Cleaners based on Yang Yi’s intel. If they can, everything can be perfectly explained.

If they cannot, then Yang Yi is as good as dead—absolutely dead.

The Grey-cloaked People have already begun their preparations. However, this kind of covert operation demands a significant amount of manpower, and whether they have sufficient capacity is genuinely hard to say.

When you gaze into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.

As the Grey-cloaked People launch their attack on the Cleaners, the Cleaners could use the opportunity to probe the Grey-cloaked People’s strength. This is an inevitable reality.

Aaron left. He didn’t contact the Grey-cloaked People in front of Yang Yi, nor did he assign anyone to monitor Yang Yi—initially showing his fundamental trust in Yang Yi.

A full two and a half hours later, Aaron returned.

"We’ll attack at 8 PM Eastern Time. At the same time, all the locations you’ve provided will be hit simultaneously. The effectiveness of this strategy might not be ideal, but we have no other choice. In short, in two and a half hours, it’s go time."

Five hours to launch coordinated attacks across multiple countries worldwide—the Grey-cloaked People are showcasing their initial strength impressively.

Yang Yi said flatly, "Then I’ll arrange to meet the contact at 8 PM. If he meets me, you launch the attack. If he doesn’t, you can choose to abort it."

Aaron smiled and said, "That’s actually what I had in mind. If your contact doesn’t meet you..."

"No need to elaborate; I know what the consequences will be."

Aaron gestured politely, then placed Yang Yi’s cellphone and satellite phone next to him.

"Did you inspect the phone?"

"No, honestly, we didn’t."

Yang Yi picked up the satellite phone and said softly, "This was given to me by the Cleaners. I hope you haven’t tampered with it; otherwise, they might indeed find out. Even if you wanted to study the phone carefully, you should have waited until after I made a call. So, now tell me again: did you inspect or tinker with it?"

Aaron responded seriously, "Of course. I understand the gravity of this, so, no, we haven’t touched your phone."

Yang Yi nodded slightly and dialed the phone.

The line connected quickly, and Elvin’s voice came through.

"Where are you? What happened?"

Yang Yi exhaled and replied in a low voice, "I’m in Mexico tailing Gong Yang. We were attacked. I’m injured—seriously. All three of us are badly hurt. We’re in the hospital now. Old Demon and the Queen are badly wounded but not in critical condition. Bonnie is fine and taking care of us."

Elvin sighed in relief and said, "No life-threatening injuries?"

"No."

"That’s good—very good. This was a misunderstanding. Uh, where are you right now?"

Yang Yi said softly, "Misunderstanding?"

"Uh, let’s talk in person."

Yang Yi said quietly, "Alright. Tonight at 8 PM. I’m not in a condition to move, so you’ll have to come meet me."

"I’ll head over right now. I’ll contact you when I arrive."

"Alright."

Yang Yi hung up the phone and looked at Aaron. "You heard him. It seems there’s nothing wrong for now, but... he really should’ve explained things in more detail to ease my doubts. Yet he didn’t do that."

Aaron frowned and asked, "You suspect he’s already becoming wary of you?"

Yang Yi nodded. "Yes. What do you think?"

Aaron thought for a long time, then shook his head. "I’m not familiar with your contact, but I don’t think his behavior indicates suspicion of your loyalty. If he truly doubted your motives, he would’ve clarified things. His lack of explanation suggests he still trusts you."

Yang Yi looked unconvinced. He spoke with a grave tone, "He didn’t specify where to meet me. I’m injured. If he trusted me, he should’ve directly come to the hospital. But instead, he said we’ll contact again later."

Aaron nodded decisively and said, "Any of our hypotheses could be valid right now. If we rely solely on speculation, we’ll end up in a loop of doubts, unable to pinpoint the truth. The simplest solution is to meet your contact face-to-face. If he shows up, it means he doesn’t doubt you. If he doesn’t or sends someone else, then... it’s unfortunate."

Yang Yi exhaled and said, "Prepare the team. He likely won’t come to the hospital to meet me. You’ll need to position some skilled operatives close to me."

Aaron chuckled and said, "For safety’s sake, they should keep some distance instead. All you’ll need is a listening device on you, so we can track your movements and safety in real time. Oh, will your meetings typically involve frisking?"

Yang Yi shook his head. "Never. But whether there are hidden signal-blocking or monitoring devices in the vicinity, I’m not sure. We always meet in crowded places, so it’s difficult for him to block signals. But monitoring signals is definitely possible."

Aaron contemplated and said, "I’ll arrange six operatives. As soon as Elvin shows up, we’ll await your signal and capture him."

Yang Yi paused for a moment and then sighed, "He knows too much. Avoid killing him if possible—he must be taken alive."

Aaron smiled and replied, "Of course."
