Chapter 1204: Chapter 1209 Congratulations on Passing
Aaron quietly looked at Yang Yi, then suddenly reached to his waist and pulled out a handgun.
He flipped the gun around, handing the grip to Yang Yi.
Yang Yi reached out and took the grip.
Aaron held Yang Yi’s hand tightly and helped him lift the handgun.
"I know your hand lacks strength. I’ll help you."
Yang Yi turned to look at Aaron, who said calmly, "Show me your sincerity. Alright, Keaton!"
Aaron shouted loudly. Keaton immediately pushed the door open and walked in. Aaron, still calm, said, "Bring the person in."
Keaton slipped out through the door but returned quickly, gripping Bonnie’s arm as he walked in and then closing the door behind him.
Bonnie looked somewhat haggard, though she didn’t appear to have been harmed.
Upon seeing the gun in Yang Yi’s hand, Bonnie first seemed surprised, but her expression only lasted for less than three seconds. Then, her face turned expressionless as she stared coldly at Yang Yi.
Bonnie had already given up pretending. Regardless of whether she had undergone interrogations before or how she had maintained her facade, the moment she dropped all pretense and hardened her face, it was clear she had given up entirely.
Aaron leaned into Yang Yi’s ear and whispered, "I know she’s one of the Cleaners. At first, I wasn’t sure, but now I am. Although I’ve never interrogated her—because she doesn’t interest me—I know a minor player like her, even if willing to say everything, could never say anything meaningful."
Yang Yi turned to look at Aaron, his face emotionless. "What do you want to do?"
Aaron smiled and straightened up. "Kill her. I need to see your sincerity. Start by taking her out. If you kill her, I’ll believe you. If you don’t, then..."
Aaron shrugged, stepped back two paces, and stood behind Yang Yi.
Bonnie exhaled softly and looked at Yang Yi with a relaxed expression, saying nothing.
Yang Yi’s hand trembled slightly, but he had no intention of pointing the gun at Bonnie. After Aaron let go of his hand, Yang Yi merely raised the gun toward Bonnie for a glance, then lowered it.
Aaron spoke in a low voice, "Where’s your sincerity?"
Yang Yi took a deep breath, hesitating. Finally, he raised the gun again, but this time, he pointed it at Keaton.
Keaton’s expression darkened, but he didn’t move. He still held Bonnie tightly and stared at Yang Yi fiercely.
Yang Yi looked as though he was about to pull the trigger, but he couldn’t do it. At that moment, Aaron sighed behind him and said softly, "You’ve made a wrong decision, but you still have a chance. Since you haven’t fired, I’ll give you another shot—you can still choose."
Yang Yi said firmly, "I won’t kill my own woman—never!"
Aaron chuckled. "Would you rather die together here? You know that if you make the wrong choice, neither you nor she will die—yet—but you should also understand that your fates will be far worse than death, including that neighbor next door, and the one on the other side of her."
Yang Yi’s breathing grew rapid, but he still didn’t pull the trigger, nor did he point the gun at Bonnie.
As for aiming at Aaron? That was impossible. Aaron’s position was too high, and he wasn’t someone you could easily mess with.
Yang Yi looked utterly defeated, knowing that Aaron wasn’t bluffing—it would immediately become reality.
In other words, if Bonnie didn’t die, Yang Yi’s sincerity couldn’t be proven. Without proof of sincerity, Yang Yi, Xiao Ran, Anton, and of course Bonnie—all of them—would die.
One dies, or all die, and not just die—suffering unspeakable torment before death. The choice should have been easy, right?
Yang Yi trembled as he spoke to Bonnie, "I’m sorry. I’m so sorry..."
Bonnie hadn’t intended to say anything, but now she finally began crying. She nodded faintly at Yang Yi and said in a shaky voice, "Pull the trigger. This is the only choice—the best ending we have. I... forgive you!"
Yang Yi nodded, then turned viciously to glare at Aaron. But his hands didn’t move, and he said in a low voice, "I’ll make you regret this!"
With that, Yang Yi suddenly pulled the gun back, pointed it at his own forehead, and pulled the trigger.
Everyone froze in shock when the trigger clicked with a "snap," but there was no gunshot—no bullet.
Bonnie shouted emotionally, "You’re insane!"
Aaron walked over, took the gun from Yang Yi’s hand, and spoke flatly, "You’d rather kill yourself than her? What a profoundly foolish choice."
Yang Yi’s face was filled with despair. Aaron exhaled and bent forward, his hands on his knees, staring into Yang Yi’s eyes. He said, "How, exactly, do you intend to make me regret this?"
"There’s nothing more to say—you’ve won."
"No, no, no—tell me. How do you plan to make me regret? I’m genuinely curious."
Yang Yi smirked coldly. "If I die, you’ll never find the Cleaners. That’s right—you can start torturing me and see how long it takes before I confess everything I know. But let me warn you, if I do talk, the value of what I say will be negligible. You missed your chance. All because you forced me to kill Bonnie. Now you understand—I’d rather die! I’d rather take everyone down with me than aim my gun..."
Yang Yi glanced briefly at Bonnie, sighed softly, and continued, "Alright, since I’m going to die, there’s no sense hiding anything. I love Xiao Ran. But since you’re my woman, I won’t aim that gun at you—ever. I’d rather die with you—and die before you—so that in your suffering, you might find some comfort."
Yang Yi closed his eyes and said softly, "I’m selfish like that, especially when it comes to certain things. I’m sorry. Forgive me."
Bonnie sobbed softly, then asked, "Do you love me? Even just a little?"
"Perhaps I... do love you—in a small way."
Bonnie smiled faintly, then whispered, "That’s good. I won’t regret dying. Truly."
Aaron took one step closer and smiled at Yang Yi. "Truly touching. Incredibly touching. Though unbelievably foolish. Now, you’ll pay the price for your foolishness."
Yang Yi muttered wearily, "Enough talk. Do what you must."
Aaron was silent for a moment, then abruptly said, "Tell me—how would you contact your informants? What do you think you can still achieve?"
Yang Yi raised his eyes to Aaron. "Dream on."
Aaron smiled. "Actually, if you had killed her earlier, I wouldn’t have trusted you. You see, I never trust people willing to sacrifice everything to save themselves. How do I put it? Such people? They’re unreliable. Your actions were foolish, but oddly enough, I find this world saturated with shrewd individuals. Sometimes, it needs someone foolish—someone clever yet foolish. So... congratulations. You’ve passed."
