Chapter 1192: Chapter 1197: Infamous Reputation

Anton came back. He drove around in a circle and returned because he was afraid Tyler wouldn’t notice Yang Yi and the others.

Yang Yi rolled down the window, waved toward Anton, and shouted, "Let’s go. Find someplace nearby to eat."

Anton hurriedly said, "No, wait. I planted another bug. I need to know if Tyler says anything."

Yang Yi said in puzzlement, "Didn’t you say planting bugs was a waste?"

"But this guy is very interesting. I just want to learn more about him, that’s all. Let me listen."

Xiao Ran frowned and said, "You planted another one? I didn’t hear anything earlier."

"Different frequency. Not using CIA’s devices. If the CIA overhears, it’ll be a headache, so I used my own bug. Turn it on, turn it on."

Anton put on the headphones, listened attentively for a moment, then immediately smiled and said, "He’s already stepped out. He doesn’t dare make calls at home since he knows there’s a bug. So, where will he go? Outside, he has to worry about being photographed, so he’ll need a place far from the bedroom but out of sight. For now, the most likely spot is that tool shed over there."

Xiao Ran promptly said, "In the car."

Before Anton could respond, Yang Yi casually said, "Do you really think he’ll still use his own car? Being tracked, bugged—all that—it’s obvious he wouldn’t dare drive it anymore."

Xiao Ran shrugged her hands and said, "No need for the explanation. I already thought of it, just said it offhand earlier."

Anton chuckled and said, "That’s why you can only work in the operations team."

Xiao Ran frowned deeply and asked, "What did you just say?"

Anton shrugged apologetically and said, "You’re not fit for the intel group. You’re only suited for the operations team. Is there a problem with that?"

Xiao Ran pouted, shook her head, and said, "Forget it. Around you, it’s not an issue."

Anton laughed and said, "Exactly. You can’t even beat me."

Yang Yi found it amusing—Anton wouldn’t hold back toward Xiao Ran, not even for the sake of her being a beauty.

Anton took a deep breath and said, "How will this guy let his partner know he’s being watched? Directly saying it seems unlikely. Even though his methods appear childish to us, he should use some kind of code words or rely on subtle tacit understanding, right?"

After pondering seriously for a while, Anton suddenly said, "Not guessing anymore. It’s pointless. This isn’t a balanced game."

Xiao Ran said coolly, "You can’t guess, can you?"

Anton nodded and said, "Yes. I can’t guess. Just like a person can’t guess what a lion is thinking. While behavior may be predictable, thoughts are not."

Yang Yi asked curiously, "Huh? You compared Tyler to a lion?"

Anton laughed and said, "Because he’s one of Satan’s men. You should know Black Devil is with Satan now, so I have to accord him proper respect. Otherwise, I’d say you can’t guess what a dog is thinking."

Yang Yi looked exasperated and said, "Fine. Where did you place the bug?"

Anton laughed and said, "Tossed it. Not far from the tool shed. As long as Tyler doesn’t start combing the ground, he probably won’t find it."

Yang Yi sighed helplessly and said, "That expensive thing—just throwing it around?"

"You spend tens of millions of US dollars without batting an eye, but you’re fretting over one bug?"

"For a smoker, losing ten dollars might not hurt, but losing a ten-dollar pack of cigarettes stings for a long time. Do you get the difference?"

Anton laughed and said, "That’s true. Alright, fair point."

After waiting a while, Anton suddenly said, "There’s sound. He’s on the phone!"

Anton turned up the volume and switched to speaker mode, letting Yang Yi and the others hear as well.

It was a ringtone—Tyler hadn’t made the call yet. Instead, someone called him first.

"Hello?"

The bug was still somewhat far away—what the other end of the line was saying couldn’t be heard. All they caught was Tyler speaking softly: "Alright. I’ll come over tomorrow. Let’s meet at the usual place. That’s it, hanging up now."

After the call ended, Yang Yi frowned and said, "The usual place. What place could that be? Judging by his tone, this is clearly someone Tyler knows well. He directly said he’d go to the usual place tomorrow without elaborating further. This shows they’re very familiar. If it’s one of Satan’s men calling him, then the usual place must be New York. Satan’s people are almost all in New York now."

Anton clapped his hands and laughed, "Great. Now we don’t need to worry about anything else. Tyler contacted Satan’s people—let’s head straight to New York and wait."

Xiao Ran asked, "Should we follow him?"

Anton immediately shook his head and said, "Follow him? That’s way too dangerous. Think about this—you need to consider the worst-case scenario if he’s meeting Gong Yang and his crew."

"What’s the big deal? Isn’t the worst simply getting discovered?"

Anton calmly said, "So, how would Gong Yang and his kind react if they realized they were being followed? Here’s a hint—Gong Yang’s crew includes Black Devil operatives. More than one of them."

"So what?"

"Hmm?"

Xiao Ran thought for a moment, then smirked and said softly, "Gong Yang and his type would immediately eliminate the risk. They’d likely take proactive measures, ensuring they’re not exposed. That means they might kill witnesses to silence them, right..."

Anton nodded and said, "Exactly. Every person and organization has its own crisis-handling protocol. You can’t definitively say one is better than another. However, typically, for mercenaries like Gong Yang, their methods are simple and direct. They don’t bother with counter-surveillance tricks—they’ll simply kill you, or worse, capture you to extract everything you know under Black Devil’s torture, and then—snap!"

Anton dragged his hand across his neck twice and then said in a low voice, "That’s why I wouldn’t follow Tyler in New York. The risk is way too high. See, the cleaner picked this surveillance target perfectly. Tyler is on his own, not living with Satan. If he were with Satan’s group, could we monitor him this easily? Don’t be ridiculous. I wouldn’t dream of playing surveillance games in front of a bunch of Black Devil operatives."

Yang Yi shrugged and smiled, "No need to follow him. They’ll create their own tension. Right now, forget Satan and Tyler—just wait to clash directly with the cleaner."

Indeed, the goal had already been achieved. After all, the cleaner was the real protagonist here. Next up, we’ll see how Yang Yi collaborates with the cleaner to put on a perfect show for Aaron.
