Chapter 1145: Chapter 1150: Such Strong Tastes
Anton climbed to the rooftop, and as his second hand gripped onto the edge of the wall, another hand grabbed his wrist.
Although Ben’s instinct was to shake it off, Anton’s hand merely twitched a little before he ultimately used Yang Yi’s pulling force to flip himself onto the rooftop.
Silently collecting the parachute that had been torn a big hole, Anton ignored Yang Yi behind him. Once he had packed the parachute into his bag, he abruptly turned to Yang Yi and said, "Do you have any cigarettes?"
"I don’t smoke, and how would I possibly bring cigarettes at a time like this? Oh, are you scared? Did you get cold feet afterward?"
Anton looked at Yang Yi for a while, then turned away and said softly, "Not scared, just feeling very embarrassed. You, a rookie, landed safe and sound, while I got stuck on a wall. It feels... I’d rather be dead."
"Don’t be like that, everyone makes mistakes sometimes."
Taking a deep breath, Anton spoke again in a low voice, "I’ve calmed down now. Let’s erase any traces first."
It was inevitable that dust would settle on the glass façade, and Anton could not avoid brushing against it. If someone with intent conducted a thorough investigation afterward, any discovery would be a clear giveaway.
That’s why it was necessary to clean up the traces and make some makeshift repairs, at least to avoid making it obvious at first glance. Of course, if someone closely observed, they would always notice something odd, but who would hang mid-air to scrutinize the minute traces on a glass façade?
If Larry Bell wasn’t killed by an obvious murder, who would have the leisure to investigate a crime scene for no reason?
After waiting to spray a carefully prepared mud-like substance over the areas he had touched, Anton packed away the spray bottle and then told Yang Yi, "It’s time for us to go down."
"Okay, taking the elevator or climbing down the window?"
"Hmm, compared to hacking electronic locks, I actually prefer the traditional way."
"Traditional way is just an outdated way, right?"
"Traditional, but will never be outdated."
"Fine, I trust you. Not that I have a choice now. Let’s go, no, let’s go down."
The two changed direction, and after triple-checking that they were above the correct window, they confirmed the spot to start their rappelling.
Anton took off his backpack and pulled out three ropes, each less than one centimeter in diameter. After tying all the ropes securely, he made a rappelling loop for himself and secured the hand brake.
Yang Yi also made a rappelling loop for himself, then looked at Anton and said, "Your way of tying the knot is different from mine."
Anton gave Yang Yi a cold look and said, "Yours is more convenient to operate with gloves on, thick gloves, but my way of knot-tying is faster."
"Ah, seems like it. This is what the people from Aurora taught me. Hmm, the Soviet Union is also very cold."
"First, the Soviet Union is vast, second, I know a hundred and sixty types of knots, third, shut up!"
Yang Yi exhaled and said, "I’m a bit nervous, please talk to me."
"You get nervous?"
"I’m not afraid of heights, but I have to trust my life to this thin rope. Of course, I’m nervous. I never thought of rappelling from this high before."
Anton gave Yang Yi another disdainful look, but he couldn’t afford to give Yang Yi a disdainful smile.
After letting the rope between him and Yang Yi fall, Anton started to descend with his face against the wall.
Meanwhile, Yang Yi, with a face full of regret, spoke into the radio, "Package delivered, you can evacuate now."
Since they would not be using a helicopter anymore, Yang Yi had the helicopter leave and then slowly turned around, suppressing the urge to look down as he climbed down.
Trusting his life to a thin rope, Yang Yi lowered himself to Anton’s side.
Anton had already secured two suction cups to the glass, and once Yang Yi reached his side, he whispered, "Do you know how to take them apart?"
"Of course, hidden frame glass installation, I’ve studied it."
The fully hidden frameless glass curtain wall, as the name implies, is that there is no glass frame to separate the glass panes; the panes are spaced apart by gaps. Therefore, this type of curtain wall cannot directly serve as window glass, but it does look a bit nicer. The installation involves using four aluminum frames that resemble the kind you’d see with a suction cup stuck around the outside of the glass.
The most ingenious aspect is that this type of glass curtain wall can be dismantled from the inside, but also from the outside.
The trouble is that there’s usually another pane of glass behind this type of curtain wall, and it’s typically a large one, like the kind you see in floor-to-ceiling windows.
Anton had removed one corner, and by the time he was about to finish the second, Yang Yi had just finished his first.
Anton climbed back to the rooftop, waiting for Yang Yi to descend a bit further. After Yang Yi had removed the last glass frame holder, Anton slowly lifted the whole pane of glass and carefully set it down.
While Anton was hoisting the glass wall, Yang Yi had directly entered through a window that had been left open.
With one hand on the rope and the other grabbing the window ledge, Yang Yi then pushed his upper body into the window. He detached the connection ring from the rope and, holding the window, gently flipped into the room, landing softly on the floor.
Fifty floors up, opening a window directly would cause a mess inside due to the strong winds, but with the glass curtain wall, and the tiny slits between them, opening windows became possible.
Of course, this window wouldn’t be in a bedroom or bathroom.
So where did Yang Yi enter? The answer is Larry Bell’s private gym and swimming pool.
Gently landing, Yang Yi didn’t speak. He observed his surroundings and quickly headed towards a door.
Larry Bell should now be sleeping in his bed.
Yang Yi quietly took off his shoe covers, stuffed them into his pocket and zipped it up to ensure they wouldn’t be lost. Wearing expensive custom-made thin-soled shoes, he moved past the gym and arrived in front of a door.
The benefit of having the whole floor to oneself is being able to install doors wherever one likes, for convenience and comfort.
Thus, Larry Bell’s residence could practically access every private area without needing to go through the places for servants, bodyguards, or assistants.
Of course, this also made things convenient for Yang Yi.
Anton glanced down. When he realized Yang Yi had already entered, he sighed quietly and followed, pushing open the window that Yang Yi had closed but not secured, and climbed in.
Yang Yi had arrived at Larry Bell’s home office. Just like anyone would occasionally handle some work at home, even though Larry Bell’s company office was just downstairs, he still had a large office set up at home.
Yang Yi gently pushed open the door. As soon as he cracked it open, he sensed something was wrong due to the light and sound.
The soundproofing was too good; Yang Yi hadn’t heard any noise from outside just before.
After pushing the door open just a bit more, Yang Yi saw a person sitting in front of the desk, staring blankly at the computer.
Yang Yi quietly drew the syringe that was tucked in front of his chest, pushed the door a little more with one hand, and then slowly advanced.
Larry Bell had no awareness of the footsteps behind him. One reason was that Yang Yi’s steps were very quiet; another was that the computer was making some noise.
Yang Yi approached behind Larry Bell. Of course, he couldn’t yet be 100% certain it was Larry Bell, but the figure from the back seemed unmistakable.
Aiming the needle at Larry Bell’s neck, Yang Yi refrained from thrusting it in, thinking success had come too easily, which made him doubt—what if this person wasn’t Larry Bell?
So Yang Yi leaned forward slightly and then he saw Larry Bell’s profile.
No mistake, Yang Yi thrust the needle downward and slowly injected the sedative.
The needle was very fine, exceedingly so, but Larry Bell still felt a slight sting. Before he could turn his head or reach up, he had just realized his neck hurt for a moment when he lost the ability to move.
Larry Bell toppled forward, collapsing onto the desk.
Yang Yi slowly withdrew the needle, then he carefully checked to ensure that there would be no noticeable mark from the injection or any resultant swelling on Larry Bell’s neck.
Breathing a quiet sigh of relief, Yang Yi whispered very softly, "Staying up late isn’t good for you, and your tastes are too extreme."
