Spy-x-War Showdown
Chapter 1019 - 1024: Welfare

Chapter 1019: Chapter 1024: Welfare

The CIA is an intelligence agency of the United States, representing the strength of the nation, and the biggest difference between a state-backed intelligence agency and small organizations like the Organization of Water is their power and efficiency.

The CIA, when they want to investigate someone, do not need to sneak around like the Organization of Water does; they can access all information whenever they desire.

Of course, they can only obtain relatively simple information that doesn’t require in-depth investigation in a short period of time, including private details such as bank transactions, shopping lists, recent flights, and places visited.

Yang Yi had thought that since Aaron had already sabotaged Petra’s engagement, he must have investigated her, and indeed, that was the case.

It took only about fifteen minutes for Yang Yi to receive all the information he wanted.

"Your requested information is available now, is there anything else you need?"

"No, thank you."

Aaron stretched out his hand and said, "Wait, you... are going to lead a team, don’t you need some technical equipment?"

Aaron was surprised because Yang Yi had not asked him for any spy-specific devices, which was quite astonishing for someone who had just joined the CIA.

Yang Yi was also surprised at his own oversight; now he was a spy at the CIA but had completely forgotten that he could request a batch of equipment from Aaron.

"Is that possible?"

"Of course, it is..."

Aaron appeared quite helpless, and after Yang Yi paused for a moment, he said, "What can I get?"

"Whatever you need, of course, we can provide it to you. If we don’t have it, we can request it from logistics."

Aaron put down the pen in his hand and then said with a wry smile, "You know, you’re the first one to join the Operations Division and have absolutely no interest in your own equipment. Everyone, I mean everyone who can go on field duty, is curious about what weapons they can get, what kind of equipment they can use. Influenced by spy movies, everyone is interested in those things. Why aren’t you?"

Yang Yi said in a low voice, "Maybe because I no longer find it novel anymore. Hmm, I’ll claim some communication devices and..."

Aaron waved his hand and said, "You don’t need to tell me those details; go to our equipment department, and you’ll naturally get what you need."

Yang Yi cautiously said, "You just mentioned the influence of movies; indeed, everyone is curious about the high-tech marvels that appear in them. May I ask if our equipment is really as advanced as portrayed in the movies?"

Aaron looked at Yang Yi and then sighed, "Okay, our equipment is more than a decade ahead of what’s shown in movies; that’s generally the case. Of course, we don’t have the downright unfeasible gadgets, but if the principle makes sense, then our equipment definitely surpasses what’s featured in films. Hollywood has a rich imagination, but they also need to get their movies approved, so you understand."

Yang Yi looked enlightened and said, "I remember now, I was responsible for external liaisons at the management department, and that includes this kind of work, right?"

"Yes."

Now, he wouldn’t have to spend his own money on equipment, and it would certainly be more advanced and more comprehensive—a great feeling indeed.

Could he possibly profiteer from this situation?

Suddenly, Yang Yi thought of this question—could he possibly take the CIA’s equipment out and use it for the Organization of Water?

The more he thought about it, the more feasible it seemed.

Yang Yi started to smile and said, "Chief, when can I collect my equipment?"

Aaron gestured with his hand and said, "You shouldn’t personally go to collect it. Just tell Ferguson what equipment you need, and he will get it for you. I will give you all the necessary equipment for your team, and..."

Aaron hesitated for a moment, then finally shook his head and said, "Unless it’s an emergency, try to minimize contact with your CIA colleagues. So, I’m thinking of not granting you access to the CIA’s transportation system, but I’m sure such a minor matter won’t trouble you."

Yang Yi was already quite satisfied and nodded, "Yes, Chief, thank you."

Aaron nodded and said, "Alright, you can go about your business. I’ll have Ferguson contact you. Complete your assignment as quickly as possible, the sooner the better."

"Yes, Chief."

Yang Yi left Aaron’s office, and couldn’t help but let out a few smug chuckles before deciding to finish up whatever he could.

He started up his Ferrari and revved the engine, purposely making the exhaust roar with loud pops and crackles, as he drove from headquarters to the training camp.

It was quite showy, especially when the guards checked his credentials upon arrival and confirmed that Yang Yi was an agent—all their eyes widened.

There had been agents who arrived at the training camp in sports cars before, but Yang Yi was the first to show up in a supercar like a Ferrari.

Familiar with the place, he reached Hegelhaus’s office and upon entering, Yang Yi smiled at Hegelhaus, "Hello, Instructor."

Hegelhaus’s feelings towards Yang Yi were complicated. On one hand, Yang Yi was his prized student; on the other, seeing Yang Yi’s not unpleasant face, Hegelhaus simply couldn’t bring himself to like it.

"Are you heading out on field duty?"

"Yes, Instructor. So, before I leave, I wanted to bring you a small gift."

Yang Yi placed a box in front of Hegelhaus and then smiled, "Hope you like it."

Hegelhaus picked up the box and looked at Yang Yi before unwrapping it and pulling out a box of cigars. After opening it, Hegelhaus’s eyebrows rose several times. "Cuban cigars, this is good stuff."

Not the most expensive of its kind, but whatever Yang Yi gave could not be ordinary—it was at least among the finest cigars available. The kind that could be auctioned off for sky-high prices wouldn’t be appropriate to give.

Hegelhaus closed the cigar box and said expressionlessly, "Is this a bribe?"

"Please, I’ve already finished my training and am leaving, and besides... do I need to bribe you?"

Hegelhaus tapped lightly on the cigar box with his hand and then nodded, "Alright, I’ve never smoked cigars this fine, and I don’t have a cigar room or humidor to keep these top-tier cigars, so I’ll enjoy them. Thank you."

Yang Yi smiled, "I won’t disturb your work, but may I have a word with Reggie?"

Hegelhaus shrugged and then called out loudly, "Reggie."

Waiting for Reggie to come out, Hegelhaus looked at his watch and said, "You have ten minutes. Go on."
