Spoiled By My Ex-Fiance's Uncle
Chapter 97: Exposing Her Ugly Face

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Exposing Her Ugly Face

After changing clothes in the restroom, An Yan transformed back into the valiant Y.

Upon exiting, she passed the tall and handsome Bi Chong, handing him a bag and then taking a small silver briefcase herself, heading directly into the elevator.

The operating room was on the fifteenth floor; when the elevator doors opened, she stepped out.

At the same time, the Mu Family approached her.

The man in the lead exuded an aura of nobility, with a stern demeanor. He approached her, his expression somewhat grave, "Hello, Doctor Y, I am Mu Hongsheng, my wife is in your hands."

An Yan could see from the man’s eyes that he truly loved his wife, and she felt guilty. If she hadn’t spent the past two years chasing the Dark Night Organization around the world, she might have undertaken this surgery sooner, and Mrs. Mu might have already awakened.

However, luckily it was not too late. She stated firmly, "Rest assured, I am very confident in this surgery."

A man in a suit, stunningly handsome but with a trace of melancholy, approached, extending his hand with a deep voice, "Hello, I am Mu Shaoci, Qianfan’s older brother."

An Yan nodded, "Hello, everyone please rest assured, I will ensure Mrs. Mu’s safety."

Mu Shaoci said, "My mother is in your care."

Footsteps followed from behind; Mu Boyan arrived with a six-person medical team, "Y, this is my team, assisting you with the surgery today."

An Yan gave a slight nod, "Ok, then let’s go in."

Due to Y’s arrival, the director of Jiangcheng Hospital provided a separate operating room and the most advanced surgical equipment.

He wanted to arrange for a few specialists to observe the surgical process, but An Yan refused.

An Yan and Mu Boyan changed into surgical gowns and washed their hands at the sink, sterilizing them.

Mu Boyan looked at her, "Surgery carries certain risks; don’t feel too much psychological pressure or burden."

An Yan smiled faintly, "I am still very confident in this surgery."

Mu Boyan’s lips curled up slightly, "Thank you."

"You’re welcome."

Both donned medical gloves and walked into the surgical room.

The woman on the operating table looked even paler under the illumination of the shadowless light.

An Yan opened the silver case and glanced at Mu Boyan, "This is a coagulant developed by my lab; it’s more effective than those coagulant injections available on the market if excessive bleeding occurs during the surgery. I also have some nutritional supplements and post-operative recovery agents to discuss with you later."

Mu Boyan nodded in agreement.

The surgery officially began.

Craniotomy required more precise skills; An Yan carefully operated a drill on the shaved area, and subsequently, the only sound in the operating room was of surgical instruments clinking on the trays.

The surgery lasted six hours. An Yan had anticipated the emergencies that occurred during the operation, and she performed each step impeccably; the injections she brought were also put to good use.

Mu Boyan’s team was very professional, and they coordinated very well.

After the surgery, An Yan looked at the woman on the operating table, recalling that Mu Qianfan mentioned she had eyes similar to hers; she was somewhat eager to see what the woman would look like when she opened her eyes.

"We’ll observe for an hour before moving her to the ICU." An Yan turned and handed the silver case to Mu Boyan, "Professor Mu, come with me for a moment."

The two went to the changing room, where An Yan explained the precautions and usage of the injections, emphasizing her earlier words.

Mu Boyan nodded solemnly, "I won’t let anyone near my mother."

He took out a card, "There is five hundred million in here, a small gesture from our family."

An Yan immediately declined, "No need to be polite, I have a good relationship with Fang Zhou, his friends are my friends. Mrs. Mu will probably wake up in about five days; you can contact me if any problems arise during this period."

Mu Boyan was astonished; Y was a highly sought-after doctor who commanded a hefty fee, yet now she was helping without taking a dime, despite it being for Fang Zhou’s sake, his heart was still filled with gratitude and amazement.

After changing her clothes, An Yan greeted Mu Boyan and left through the operating room’s special passage.

Upon reaching the first floor, she took the bag that Bi Chong had kept for her and went into the restroom to change.

Just after she had changed, Fu Shiyan’s call came in, "Why aren’t you replying to texts or answering calls?"

"I was sleeping at home and just woke up."

Fu Shiyan hummed in acknowledgment, "What do you want to eat tonight?"

"Anything is fine, I’ll leave it up to you."

Fu Shiyan laughed and agreed.

They chatted for a few more moments before they finally hung up.

Fu Shiyan sat on his home’s sofa, the smile on his face gradually fading.

He stared at the darkened screen of his phone, pondering why An Yan said she was sleeping at home, why she lied to him.

Meanwhile, An Yan left the restroom, and Bi Chong followed up, "I haven’t even eaten lunch yet, how about you treat me?"

Just as An Yan was about to agree, her phone vibrated again.

Seeing a string of unfamiliar numbers, she raised an eyebrow. Except for Fu Chenyu, she couldn’t think of anyone else who might know her number, especially since people like An Zaili were still detained.

She answered, and a soft, weak voice came through.

"Is this Miss An?"

An Yan narrowed her eyes, "Miss Su?"

"Yes, it’s me, Su Manxi. I got your number from Jinqiao. Are you free today? I’m alone in the hospital and it’s really boring, can you come and keep me company?"

An Yan thought to herself that she certainly did not believe Su Manxi was genuinely bored and wanted her company.

She decided to see what this woman was really after.

She smiled and said, "Sure, I’ll come see you in a bit."

After hanging up, An Yan turned to Bi Chong, whose face was grim, "Sorry, I’ll treat you next time."

Bi Chong scoffed, "Why bother with such a white lotus green tea?"

"To expose her ugly true face, to spare myself from further disgust next time."

"Then I wish you success!" Bi Chong clicked his tongue, "I will go enjoy myself."

...

Since she was visiting a patient, An Yan stopped at a flower shop to buy a bouquet of lilies.

She walked into the hospital room to find only Su Manxi there, engrossed in watching something on her tablet.

"Miss An, you’re here, come sit over here."

An Yan placed the flowers into a vase and sat down on a chair next to the hospital bed.

Su Manxi pointed at the screen, "This movie is really good, it’s about a pair of childhood sweethearts. They’ve been neighbors since childhood, and were in the same class from kindergarten, elementary, middle, to high school. Although they never made it clear, they were sure about each other. But, the male protagonist got attracted to another girl in college and they became a couple. Still, he eventually realized that she wasn’t worth his affection and chose to go back to his childhood sweetheart."

An Yan understood the hint she was making. She picked up a fruit knife from the table, grabbed an apple, and started peeling it methodically.

"Miss Su, have you heard of the saying, ’a heavenly strike is better than childhood friends’?"

The smile on Su Manxi’s face froze, "The male protagonist was just attracted by beauty. Once it became tasteless, he mercilessly discarded the heavenly strike and turned back to his childhood love."

An Yan laughed, as a long strip of apple peel fell to the ground, "Having beauty proves there are benefits to be had, but beware of those who are mundane yet self-satisfied and self-righteous. Not all childhood friends end up together. Being together in the past does not imply they were in love, it could have been just one-sided affection."
