Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Buying 999 Roses
Fu Shiyan turned around and saw Su Manxi’s face turn red. She pointed to her throat in agony, unable to utter a word.
An Yan stepped forward, "She’s having an allergic reaction."
She looked back at Fu Shiyan, "Go get a doctor quickly."
Fu Shiyan immediately rushed out of the hospital room to find a doctor and explain the situation, quickly returning to the room with one.
After examining her, the doctor hurriedly said, "This is acute laryngeal edema caused by an allergic reaction. Take her to the emergency room immediately!"
Su Manxi’s complexion turned purplish-red, and by the time she was rushed into the emergency room, she had already begun to show symptoms of suffocation.
The doctor took emergency measures and began injecting corticosteroids.
Fortunately, the timely rescue allowed Su Manxi to gradually breathe more easily.
The doctor asked the nurse to connect her to a vital signs monitor, then walked out.
Ailin’s face was streaked with tears, "Doctor, how is my daughter now?"
The doctor took a deep breath, "The patient’s condition was caused by an allergy. If we had been any later, we would have needed to perform a tracheotomy. What is she usually allergic to?"
Su Bingcheng said, "Mangoes and peanuts."
Fu Shiyan asked, "Did the soup you brought contain peanuts?"
Ailin’s eyes darted around, "That shouldn’t be, Manxi is allergic to peanuts and mangoes, the housekeepers also know that." She stomped her foot hard, "I recall now, Sister Zhou is new. I forgot to tell her about this, she must have used peanuts. That nearly cost Manxi her life!"
Su Bingcheng was initially stunned, then his brows creased, but eventually, they relaxed, "That was our mistake too; we can’t blame others for it."
Ailin began to cry out loudly, as if releasing the stress of Su Manxi’s close brush with death, but amid her crying, she fainted.
Seeing this, the doctor quickly instructed Su Bingcheng to carry her into the emergency room.
Fortunately, it was just extreme emotional turmoil, and she soon woke up.
Su Bingcheng turned to Fu Shiyan, his voice full of plea, "Shiyan, you see what state your aunt is in. She really can’t stay with Manxi now. Your uncle has a favor to ask, could you stay with Manxi tonight? Though the caregiver and Assistant Han are both here, I truly can’t rest easy. Please do it, considering your long friendship with Manxi."
Fu Shiyan furrowed his brows, then looked at An Yan, who nodded.
He then said okay.
Su Bingcheng appeared relieved, "I’ll take your aunt home now."
Shortly after Su Bingcheng and his wife left, Su Manxi was transferred back to her own VIP hospital room.
The caregiver, not daring to be negligent, hurried to her bedside to watch over her.
Fu Shiyan checked the time; it was already eleven o’clock.
He rubbed his brows tiredly and walked out with An Yan.
"Yanyan, I need to stay here tonight. I’ll have Han Yang drive you home. Sorry I couldn’t go home with you."
An Yan said softly, "I understand, things happen suddenly and no one wants this. If you leave now, it would be really inconsiderate. Don’t stay up all night by yourself, there are the caregiver and Assistant Han, take turns resting, else you won’t be able to cope tomorrow."
"I know, then see you at Fu Corporation tomorrow, okay?"
"I have class tomorrow."
"I’ll pick you up for lunch, okay?"
"Okay."
Fu Shiyan saw An Yan off into the car, and only turned back to the hospital when the car was out of sight.
He sat on a bench outside the hospital room, his head slightly reclined against the pristine white wall.
Half an hour later, he received a call from Han Yang, who reported that he had safely escorted her home.
He responded with a hum, then suddenly said, "Go buy 999 roses and send them to Bishui Bay."
Han Yang knew that President Fu felt he owed his delicate wife, so he hurriedly complied, knowing that a job well done could double his year-end bonus.
...
As soon as An Yan got home, her phone buzzed with a message.
Seeing the name on the screen, she smiled slightly, "Back in Jiangcheng?"
"Yeah! Grandmother asked me to bring you some rose cakes, when will you have time for me to deliver them?"
"How about tomorrow noon? I’ll introduce you to someone."
"Don’t tell me it’s Fu Shiyan."
An Yan clicked her tongue, "Why so nosy, will you meet or not?"
Bi Chong sounded anxious, "For a guy, you’re really insulting me?"
"When did I insult you?"
"You’re calling me cheap!"
An Yan brushed off the cloud of gloom with a laugh, "I mean ’meet’, as in ’to see’, what were you thinking?"
"Oh, okay, I just got back and haven’t had dinner yet. I really miss the Yangchun noodles you make."
An Yan thought for a moment, "Then roll over to my place, I’ll make you a bowl of noodles, then you can roll back home."
Bi Chong cheered, "Boss, you’re the best!"
An Yan hung up the phone and sent him a location, then went to prepare ingredients.
Han Yang entered an elevator with a big bunch of roses, pressing the floor for the twelfth level.
Soon, the elevator doors opened, and as he stepped out, his smile froze because he watched a skinny man with a buzz cut enter An Yan’s apartment.
At the same time, his phone vibrated and he freed a hand to answer it, "President Fu."
