Chapter 445: Chapter 445: Second Brother’s Romance 22

Rumors and slander can kill a person, and this is no falsehood.

An entirely fabricated charge could drown and destroy someone.

Lin Chu listened coldly to the cursing and malicious intent hurled at her.

These people were strangers passing by in life, yet at this moment, they played the role of adversaries.

"Enough!"

The man’s angry voice came from behind Lin Chu.

She turned and saw Mu Boyan rushing towards her.

When he drew near, he pulled her into his embrace.

The eyes behind his spectacles were filled with fury and a murderous intent.

"Today, I’ll hold each of you legally accountable!" Mu Boyan’s words resonated with determination.

At this, some tried to flee, only to find themselves surrounded by a ring of men in black suits.

The instigator who threw the eggs was restrained, and the remaining hecklers were also controlled and taken to the police station by the suited men.

Mu Boyan looked at the woman in his arms, her hair and body covered in egg fluid and shells.

He wanted to reach out and wipe it away, but Lin Chu stopped him, "Don’t touch, it’s too dirty."

Mu Boyan felt extremely heartbroken as he picked off the eggshells, "I’m sorry, I didn’t protect you well enough."

Lin Chu compressed her lips, "I’m the one who should apologize to you; I’m still causing you trouble at this time."

"It’s my fault for getting you involved; let’s go clean you up."

Mu Boyan wrapped Lin Chu in his arms and entered the hospital. He found an upscale ward and let Lin Chu take a shower.

Hearing the sound of water abruptly stop, Mu Boyan knocked on the door, "Chuchu, put on my T-shirt first."

"Okay."

The door opened a crack, and a fair little hand reached out to take the T-shirt from the man’s hand.

When Lin Chu came out again, she was wearing Mu Boyan’s black T-shirt that nearly reached her knees.

She saw the man standing by the window, smoking a cigarette.

Mu Boyan seldom smoked. Lin Chu knew that he must be feeling especially annoyed now.

She went over and asked quietly, "What exactly happened?"

Mu Boyan extinguished the cigarette, "Xu Shicheng’s surgery was actually a minor one and very successful, but an hour ago, he suddenly suffocated to death. His body has been sent to forensic science for examination."

"There must have been something that happened; a minor surgery wouldn’t result in death post-operation."

Mu Boyan nodded, "Now we’re just waiting for the forensic results."

Lin Chu frowned, "And in the meantime?"

"In the meantime, I’ll cooperate with the investigation."

Lin Chu understood that this decision from the hospital effectively suspended Mu Boyan’s medical practice.

For a doctor, such a thing is extremely cruel.

Lin Chu stepped forward and took the man’s hand, "I’m with you."

Mu Boyan gave a faint smile, "Chuchu, we’re just pretending to be a couple. You really don’t have to do this."

Lin Chu looked up at the man, "Boyan, would you like to be my real boyfriend?"

Mu Boyan narrowed his eyes intently at her.

Lin Chu caressed the palm of the man’s hand, "I know I’m not worthy of your status, but after spending so much time together, I’ve long been moved by you. However, if you want to just be ordinary friends, then pretend I never said anything."

She slowly drew back her hand, "Then let’s just be ordinary friends."

Mu Boyan’s lips curled into a faint, hardly noticeable smile.

"It looks like we can’t be just ordinary friends."

Lin Chu furrowed her brows, "We can’t even be ordinary friends?"

She was so sad.

If she had known this would happen, she’d have kept her words to herself for a lifetime; at least then, future encounters wouldn’t be awkward, and they could simply greet each other.

Now, not even being ordinary friends was possible, and it felt like such a failure.

Mu Boyan watched her frustrated expression, struggling to suppress a laugh, "Yep."

Lin Chu couldn’t help her tears welling up, "I understand. Then I won’t bother you anymore. But don’t ask me to leave right now, okay? I want to stay with you."

Mu Boyan hadn’t meant to make her cry and so he also couldn’t hold back any longer; he pulled her into his arms, "We can’t be ordinary friends, only lovers. Chuchu, I accept your confession."

Lin Chu was shocked. Had she just succeeded in her confession?

Mu Boyan wished he could blend her into his very bones and flesh; it was a while before he released her.

"Aren’t you going to kiss me now?"

The man was dead serious, and Lin Chu felt that what he said wasn’t wrong, but should she be the one to initiate it?

It wasn’t out of the question, considering she was the one who confessed.

But why did Mu Boyan seem like a peacock, almost as if he was about to display his feathers?

Lin Chu looked at the man’s lips and tiptoed closer.

"If that’s how much you want to kiss me, then I’ll satisfy you."

The man chuckled lightly, bending down to meet her advance, kissing her lips.

Before, their kisses were under the pretense of being a fake couple, but now, it was completely legitimate.

Mu Boyan relished the feeling, as Lin Chu laid in his embrace, allowing him to take all he wanted.

"Mm, it tickles."

Lin Chu murmured softly during a breath.

Mu Boyan asked with a smile, "Where does it tickle, hm?"

Lin Chu turned her flushed face away, "You... you’re not allowed to speak."

Mu Boyan chuckled, whispering teasingly in her ear, "Chuchu, it’s normal for you to want to do indescribable things with me, you don’t have to be embarrassed. Just tell me, and I’ll satisfy you."

Lin Chu clutched his shirt, "I... I didn’t think about it."

"A woman holding onto a man’s shirt is actually a hint."

Hearing this, Lin Chu quickly let go.

Mu Boyan kissed her cheek, "You’re so adorable."

A knock at the door interrupted them.

Mu Boyan held Lin Chu’s hand as he went to open the door.

It was the police. They showed their badges.

"Mu Boyan, Xu Ying, the daughter of Xu Shicheng, accuses you of conspiring against Xu Shicheng’s life. Please come with us to the station for investigation."

Lin Chu’s brows knit together, feeling indignant on behalf of Mu Boyan.

Mu Boyan squeezed her hand, "Don’t worry, it’s just assistance with the investigation."

Lin Chu nodded, "I’m coming with you."

Mu Boyan smiled and left with the police, hand in hand with Lin Chu.

The incident stirred up a huge commotion, and the internet was rife with malevolent comments, suggesting Mu Boyan took advantage of the situation to settle personal scores, even going so far as to take Xu Shicheng’s life.

Lin Chu sat outside the interrogation room, feeling utterly useless, as if she couldn’t help at all.

Then, Xu Ying emerged from another interrogation room.

Her eyes red with fury, she glared at Lin Chu, "Slut, if it weren’t for you, Mu Boyan wouldn’t have opposed Xu Corporation to please you, nor would he have killed my father because of you!"

Lin Chu couldn’t stand to hear another person accusing Mu Boyan of murder.

She retorted, "Stop slandering! The truth will come out! If Boyan really wanted to avoid suspicions, he wouldn’t have taken on the surgery! Justice may be late, but it will come! Xu Ying, you’ll pay for your baseless accusations!"

Xu Ying snorted and left, spewing curses as she went.

As Lin Chu felt overwhelmed, the forensic report came back.
