Chapter 444: Chapter 444: Second Brother’s Romance 21

Mu Boyan had just finished performing surgery on Father Xu and then took on another operation.

By the time it ended, it was already 9:30 pm.

He sat on the bench in the changing room, pinched the bridge of his nose, and took out his phone to check it, noticing a message on WeChat.

It was a photo sent by Lin Chu.

There were four dish covers on the dining table.

The message was sent three hours ago.

He dialed Lin Chu’s number, but she didn’t answer.

He estimated that around this time, Lin Chu was likely taking a shower.

Mu Boyan got up quickly, changed his clothes, and left the hospital.

The car window was half down; the breeze swirled in, slightly disheveling the hair on his forehead.

Behind his glasses, his eyes sparkled with amusement, and his lips curled up slightly.

Having a woman waiting at home for him to come back for dinner was exactly the life he wanted.

Passing by a milk tea shop, Mu Boyan bought two cups of milk tea, the flavor Lin Chu liked.

It was forty minutes later when he arrived home.

Mu Boyan entered the password, opened the door to Lin Chu’s house, and walked in to find the aroma of food wafting through the air.

"Chuchu?"

Lin Chu ran out of the bathroom, wearing a light pink bunny pajama, "I was just drying my hair. Have you eaten?"

"Not yet," Mu Boyan replied, handing her the milk tea, "I picked these up from a milk tea shop on the way."

Lin Chu smiled as she took it, "Thank you. I messaged you and saw you didn’t reply, so I figured you must be in surgery. I’ll go heat up the dishes; we can eat in just a bit."

Mu Boyan smiled and grabbed her wrist, "I’ll take care of it; you enjoy your milk tea."

Lin Chu hummed obediently and sat at the dining table.

Mu Boyan lifted the dish covers, his eyes lighting up with surprise, "Fried beef fillet, braised shrimp balls, cold sea cucumber, dry-fried green beans. How many hours did you spend cooking?"

Lin Chu slowly held up three fingers, "It was okay."

"Why didn’t you eat first?"

"I wanted to wait for you."

A warmth spread through Mu Boyan’s heart, "Wait for me for a sec."

He took the dishes into the kitchen to warm them up, then brought them back out to the table.

The heated dishes smelled quite appetizing.

Mu Boyan sat opposite Lin Chu, who looked at him expectantly, "Go on, try some."

Mu Boyan took a piece of beef fillet and put it in his mouth, "It’s really good."

He then tried the other dishes in turn.

Lin Chu watched him continually nodding and felt extraordinarily content, "Then eat more."

This was the first time Lin Chu had seriously cooked, and although the result was delightful, the process had been quite strenuous.

She said it took her three hours, but actually, she had spent over five hours.

She had thrown out a pound of beef fillet and some undercooked green beans.

Lin Chu enjoyed the dishes she made herself as they tasted very delicious to her since she had achieved them with her own effort.

She sipped her milk tea, "Do you want some?"

Mu Boyan raised an eyebrow at her, "Sure."

Lin Chu, holding the straw, pierced the other cup of milk tea and handed it over.

Mu Boyan still looked at her, "This one isn’t sweet enough."

Lin Chu blushed, remembering the day they shared a straw for coconut juice.

She bit the straw, "There’s nobody else around now."

She pushed her milk tea towards him.

Just as Mu Boyan was about to drink, his phone in his pocket buzzed.

He took it out and answered, his expression turning serious.

He said softly, "I’m on my way now."

Lin Chu asked, "What happened?"

"It’s nothing. Get some sleep early," Mu Boyan stood up to leave.

Lin Chu ran around the table and grabbed his arm, "Is something wrong?"

Mu Boyan smiled, ruffling her hair, "Really, it’s nothing. Go to bed early, okay?"

Watching him hastily leave, Lin Chu felt very uneasy.

She glanced at the unfinished meal and began to clean up the dishes.

After tidying up, she curled up on the sofa with her milk tea and browsed her phone.

She was quite surprised when she saw the various negative news about Xu Corporation.

Had Mu Boyan taken action against the Xu family for her?

She came across news about Father Xu being hospitalized and that Mu Boyan had performed the surgery.

Then, a live broadcast popped up.

It was Xu Ying’s stream.

Lin Chu clicked on it, and Xu Ying was crying pitifully.

"I never expected my father to pass away like this. I earnestly request everyone’s help to find out the true cause of my dad’s death. The Mu Family is too powerful; I really can’t stand against them on my own. After Mu Boyan finished the surgery on my dad, my dad had an accident. Such a renowned cardiology expert, how could he let someone die under his care?"

Lin Chu’s mind buzzed.

So, Mu Boyan had left because Father Xu had died.

Before leaving, he had told her to rest well, trying to soothe her mood.

Unable to sit still anymore, Lin Chu changed into casual clothes, put on a mask and hat, and left the house.

Driving to the hospital, Lin Chu had never felt a sixty-second red light last so long.

When she arrived at the hospital, a lot of reporters were gathered at the entrance, along with some people holding white banners with red writing.

"Murderers must pay with life, unfit to be human."

"Mu Boyan, blood for blood!"

...

Lin Chu knew these were troublemakers incited by Xu Ying; they didn’t care about the truth, they only wanted money.

Thinking of Mu Boyan getting into trouble because of her made her feel awful.

She got out of the car, intending to enter from the side, but didn’t expect a reporter to recognize her.

"Look, it’s Lin Chu!"

...

The crowd swarmed her, encircling her.

"Lin Chu, Mu Boyan took action against the Xu family for you, now that Xu Shicheng is dead, what do you think?"

"Lin Chu, do you think Xu Shicheng’s death has anything to do with Second Young Master Mu?"

"Lin Chu, Second Young Master Mu acted out of rage for a beauty; are you moved?"

...

Lin Chu faced the barrage of questions from the reporters, took off her hat and mask.

"You call yourselves journalists, but all you do is speculate? Has Xu Shicheng’s death been investigated thoroughly? What basis do you have to claim his death was caused by Mu Boyan? That’s slander! As journalists, instead of reporting the truth, you only think about gaining eyeballs! Without the police giving out the investigation results, you’re here fabricating stories!"

"And those causing trouble, how can you stir things up here with no conscience? How much did Xu Ying pay you to create this scene?"

"You reporters love to sensationalize and use headlines to earn clicks. Usually, I don’t see you promoting justice, but now you all suddenly show up!"

Lin Chu spoke vehemently, visibly angered, "Mu Boyan is a respected cardiologist in Hua Country. Since the surgery was successful, it means something else must have gone wrong with Xu Shicheng later. Until the matter is investigated thoroughly, I hope you don’t engage in false reporting!"

After finishing her speech, she tried to turn towards the hospital.

Snap!

An egg smashed onto her head, with the yellow yolk streaming down her hair.

Lin Chu pursed her lips and looked in the direction of the culprit.

The disruptive people didn’t stop; another egg was thrown at her, followed by countless others.
