Chapter 314: Chapter 314: Fourth Young Master Mu is Just a Small Fry

That dazzling, fiery redness hurt Zhou Ziqiao’s eyes.

Not just her eyes hurt, but her heart ached as well, as if pricked by needles.

Her eyes were sore, and she bit tightly onto her lower lip.

If she hadn’t gone to the Mu Family to break off the engagement today, she would have had to wear the green hat her fiancé had given her.

At the very least, she still had some dignity now, as it was she who had initiated the breakup.

Taking a deep breath, there was no longer any relationship between them, and although she felt sad and heartbroken, it was only temporary, and she would gradually forget.

Zhou Ziqiao looked away, but that shade of red was so conspicuous that it was visible even in her peripheral vision.

She took out her phone to scroll through videos but found her hand was shaking badly.

Her eyes couldn’t see it, but her ears could still hear.

"Shaoze, thank you for picking me up," He Xiyue’s voice was sweet and pleasant. Her eyes shone brightly, and she asked cautiously, "Miss Zhou won’t be mad, will she?"

Fourth Young Master Mu frowned slightly. Miss Zhou had kicked him to the curb, but he couldn’t just say that; it would be too embarrassing.

He was about to say Zhou Ziqiao wouldn’t be mad when he heard He Xiyue, sounding quite surprised, "Oh, she came along too."

Following He Xiyue’s gaze, Fourth Young Master Mu turned and saw Zhou Ziqiao standing not far behind him.

Fourth Young Master Mu’s lips curled up. She’d taken the initiative to break off the engagement during the day, and by evening, she seemed to have regretted it.

Wasn’t she still concerned about him, tracking him?

A wave of inexplicable pleasure washed over him, dissipating the irritation he had felt before.

He was about to step forward to mock her when he saw a tall man striding past, embracing Zhou Ziqiao tightly in his arms.

The smile on Fourth Young Master Mu’s lips vanished in an instant, and his cold eyes fixed on the scene, exuding a dangerous air.

The woman who had professed her love for him fervently for five years was now in the arms of another man, it seemed she had been fooling him the whole time.

That’s why she was so eager to call off the engagement, she must have already found a new lover.

Fourth Young Master Mu licked the back of his teeth, feeling blocked up inside.

He couldn’t suppress this feeling; he wanted to ask Zhou Ziqiao when she had started making him wear the green hat.

Just as he was about to step forward, he was tugged at the arm by He Xiyue, "Shaoze, Miss Zhou didn’t come here with you. But don’t get me wrong, maybe that man is just her good friend. Sorry, if I hadn’t asked you to pick me up, you wouldn’t have seen this."

Now, Fourth Young Master Mu felt utterly humiliated. He shook off He Xiyue’s hand and headed straight towards the embracing couple.

At this moment, Zhou Ziqiao, who was being embraced and almost suffocated, saw the man with a dark face coming towards her furiously.

She quickly patted Song Nanli, "Alright, my former fiancé is coming."

Song Nanli let go of her and turned back to look at the approaching man, directly draping his arm over Zhou Ziqiao’s shoulder in a provocative manner.

Zhou Ziqiao saw the anger in Fourth Young Master Mu and stepped in front of Song Nanli to confront him, "What do you want?"

Fourth Young Master Mu, towering thirty centimeters above Zhou Ziqiao, looked down at her, his tongue clicking against his cheek, "Wearing the title of my fiancée, you’ve found yourself a lover—that’s pretty impressive!"

Zhou Ziqiao clenched her teeth, "Mu Shaoze, I’m not as disgraceful as you say, he’s my friend."

"Friend?" Fourth Young Master Mu scoffed, "What kind of friend can hug and hold each other like that?"

Zhou Ziqiao took a deep breath, "I’ve broken off our engagement. I have nothing to do with you now and don’t need to explain myself. From now on, you go your sunny path, and I’ll cross my log bridge."

Fourth Young Master Mu ground his teeth fiercely and leaned down to whisper by her ear, "What, I didn’t satisfy you last night, so you’re looking for someone else to fill the emptiness today?"

Zhou Ziqiao’s nose was sour, and she was shaking with rage.

She looked at Mu Shaoze’s smirking face, originally wanting to snap back at him, offering the retort: Aren’t you also here to pick up your First Love?

Suddenly, she realized it was all meaningless.

She lifted the corners of her lips, grabbed the man’s collar with both hands, tiptoed closer to his ear, "Exactly, Fourth Young Master Mu’s skills were too poor. That was the most important reason for breaking off the engagement."

Having said that, she turned around, took Song Nanli’s arm, and gave Mu Shaoze a sweet smile, "I hope Fourth Young Master Mu can grow from a little chick to a big bird. Farewell."

Watching Zhou Ziqiao and the man leave, Fourth Young Master Mu’s face was as sour as ten bags of river snail rice noodles.

This damn woman took away his first kiss and his virginity, and now she was calling him a little chick with poor skills. This was nothing short of a huge insult to him.

He pressed his brow bone, a headache brewing from his irritation.

He Xiyue stepped forward, a tinge of regret in her voice, "Why did you break up? I still feel quite sorry, if it wasn’t for picking me up, you wouldn’t have seen such an upsetting scene."

"Upsetting?" Mu Shaoze chuckled, "How could that be possible?"

He looked at He Xiyue, "Where do you live? I’ll take you home."

He Xiyue blinked, "I still live in the old neighborhood."

Mu Shaoze turned to pick up her suitcase, "Let’s go."

The black Ghost headed toward Jiangcheng’s old neighborhood.

Inside, He Xiyue was incredibly excited. She had thought she would have to defeat Mu Shaoze’s fiancée upon returning, but now even that step was spared.

She grew up fatherless, with an ill mother. Because of her family’s circumstances, she felt very inferior.

She knew she was beautiful, so she hoped to find a rich man to change her fate.

During her senior year of college, Mu Shaoze pursued her, but he didn’t reveal his family background.

Although He Xiyue liked Mu Shaoze’s appearance, family circumstances were a solid requirement, so she was hesitant.

It was then, at a sculpture exhibition, that she met her ex-husband, the artist Chen Duo.

Chen Duo, although ten years her senior, divorced and childless, was wealthy and famous.

So, without a second thought, she rejected Mu Shaoze and chose Chen Duo. The two quickly moved in together, got married, and emigrated to Country C.

Never did she expect to learn from the news of a Mu Family recognition banquet that Mu Shaoze was none other than the fourth young master of the Mu Family.

She regretted it so deeply that her insides turned blue. If Mu Shaoze had revealed his background at the time, she would definitely have chosen him.

She resented Mu Shaoze deeply and grew ever more disdainful of Chen Duo, often quarreling with him over trifles.

Chen Duo, too, had enough of her cold sarcasm, cheated with different women, and later turned to domestic abuse.

He Xiyue endured in silence because leaving Chen Duo meant losing her financial support.

After encountering Mu Shaoze again, she began to consider divorcing Chen Duo.

With some scheming, Chen Duo’s violence worsened, earning her the sympathy of the judge and jury. She hired a well-known lawyer in Country C, successfully divorced Chen Duo, and obtained half of his property.

She returned to Hua Country with one goal in mind: to claim Mu Shaoze.

The car stopped at an old block in the neighborhood, Building D, Unit 3.

He Xiyue smiled, "I didn’t expect you to remember this place."

Mu Shaoze hummed noncommittally, "I have a rather good memory."

He Xiyue pursed her lips, "I’ve heard people with good memories tend to be more faithful."

Mu Shaoze’s eyebrows tightened slightly, "I’ll escort you up."

He Xiyue nodded.

Mu Shaoze got out of the car to fetch the luggage from the trunk and took it up to the third floor.

The building was old, still fitted with sound-activated lights.

Suddenly, the light went out.

He Xiyue let out a scream and flung herself onto the man, feeling his body tense immediately.

The light came back on, and she quickly stepped back, a bit embarrassed, "Sorry, I’m not used to this."

"It’s okay," Mu Shaoze handed over the suitcase, "Go inside."

He Xiyue nodded, took out her keys to unlock the door, "Would you like to come in and sit for a while?"

Mu Shaoze declined, "No, I have things to do. I’ll be off then."

He Xiyue felt a sense of loss, "Then drive safely. Shaoze, don’t dwell on the thing with Miss Zhou. You’ll meet someone who truly cherishes you."

Mu Shaoze hummed an acknowledgment, said he was leaving, and went downstairs.

He Xiyue touched her red lips with her fingertips. Mu Shaoze, she was determined to have him!
