Spoiled By My Ex-Fiance's Uncle
Chapter 313: Breaking Off the Engagement with Him

Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Breaking Off the Engagement with Him

An Yan and Zhou Ziqiao left the room to wait for the elevator.

As the elevator doors opened, just as they were about to enter, they saw Mu Shaoze with his hands in his pockets, looking rebelliously at Zhou Ziqiao.

He scoffed, "Telling tales again? Yesterday and today too, you truly are a snitch."

Zhou Ziqiao’s hands, hanging by her trouser seams, clenched tightly. At that moment, An Yan held her hand and they both walked in.

An Yan glanced at Mu Shaoze, "Fourth Brother, I came to deliver clothes for Ziqiao. Her dress was torn and she can’t wear it anymore."

Mu Shaoze, realizing it was his own doing, backed off a bit.

He watched as Zhou Ziqiao straightened up stubbornly, showing no signs of submission, which irked him a little.

When they reached the first floor, An Yan and Zhou Ziqiao stepped out of the elevator, while Mu Shaoze lazily followed behind.

Seeing the two get into the car, he also got in his car and followed from a distance.

An Yan glanced in the rearview mirror, "Fourth Brother is following us, how childish."

"Maybe he’s also headed to the Mu Family," Zhou Ziqiao looked down at her hands.

An Yan smiled slightly, "That’s not necessarily the case, let’s test it out."

She changed the route to the Mu Family’s manor, taking a right turn and driving forward.

Sure enough, Mu Shaoze’s car followed.

An Yan stifled a laugh, Mu Shaoze was the most childish of her four brothers.

After turning at two more intersections, Mu Shaoze realized An Yan’s intention, so he stopped following and turned his car around and left.

An Yan sighed internally. He had a clear path in romance but chose the hard way.

But let him learn his lesson. The girl had liked him for five years; he didn’t believe her and even acted pridefully arrogant. He deserved to chase after his wife.

She would definitely not help him. This kind of personality needs to experience the bitterness of love to appreciate what’s in front of him, recognize his own heart, and genuinely treat the girl right.

An Yan looked at Zhou Ziqiao, who was still downcast. She said, "Ziqiao, there are plenty of good men in this world. You can’t hang yourself on one crooked tree. Away from that crooked tree lies an Amazon Rainforest. Warm-hearted uncles, dashing and wealthy CEOs, younger adorable guys—there’s always one type that you’ll fancy. As for my Fourth Brother with his love-impaired brain, unless he undergoes rehabilitation training, he’ll stay foolish forever."

Zhou Ziqiao burst into laughter, "An Yan, you have such a way with words. But you’re right, three-legged toads are hard to find, but men with two legs are everywhere. I’m sure someone will appreciate me."

As Zhou Ziqiao’s friend, An Yan truly considered Zhou Ziqiao’s perspective and was also very objective about Mu Shaoze.

But as Mu Shaoze’s sister, she naturally hoped that such a wonderful girl could end up with Mu Shaoze, so she couldn’t let Zhou Ziqiao go.

This kind of girl, once she truly lets go, will never look back.

An Yan said, "Ziqiao, why not delay your departure by a few days? I’m planning to open a dessert shop; come help me out."

In their years of acquaintance, An Yan had never asked her for anything. Since Zhou Ziqiao would overthink if she returned anyway, she might as well stay and help An Yan.

She nodded, "Sure."

An Yan smiled, "Thank you, Ziqiao."

"There’s no need for thanks. We’ve been friends for so many years."

An Yan thought to herself, Zhou Ziqiao really is a sweet, innocent rabbit.

Soon, the car arrived at the Mu Family manor, and An Yan and Zhou Ziqiao entered the villa.

In the living room, Fu Shiyan was peeling an apple, while Mu Hongsheng was telling a story to two children.

Mu Shaoze sat in an armchair, legs crossed, fiddling with a bright metal lighter, looking indifferently aloof.

Hearing footsteps, Mu Hongsheng looked up, "Little Five and Ziqiao are back. Go wash your hands; there are fresh egg tarts to eat soon."

An Yan, along with Zhou Ziqiao, sat down, "Dad, Ziqiao has something she wants to say."

Mu Shaoze suddenly lifted his eyelids, his gaze coldly fixed on Zhou Ziqiao.

Feeling the chilling gaze, Zhou Ziqiao became nervous. She bit her lip and turned to Mu Hongsheng, "Uncle, I’m sorry, I want to call off the engagement."

As her words fell, Mu Shaoze’s long fingers tightly gripped the lighter, making a chilling noise.

Mu Hongsheng glanced at Mu Shaoze, "Did Shaoze do something to upset you? Tell your Uncle, and I’ll reprimand him."

Zhou Ziqiao shook her head, "No, Shaoze is quite nice, it’s just that we’re not compatible."

Xu Wanqing, carrying a tray of freshly baked egg tarts, walked over, "What’s this about? Why aren’t you compatible? Weren’t you getting along well? The engagement is already settled; the next step is marriage."

Mu Shaoze snorted coldly, "Incompatibility is real. Marriages born out of scheming will inevitably end."

Zhou Ziqiao’s eyes involuntarily reddened, her hands on her knees curled up. "Let me say it again, this has nothing to do with me. This is the last time I’ll say this. Believe it or not, that’s your choice. From now on, to each their own path."

She stood up, "Uncle and Aunt, I have other matters and must leave now. I’m sorry for troubling you over mine and Shaoze’s matters. If you ever need me, just call, and I will unquestionably help."

An Yan stood up, "I’ll see you out."

Zhou Ziqiao bowed respectfully to Xu Wanqing and Mu Hongsheng, then left with An Yan.

Xu Wanqing stood at the doorway, watching the car drive through the wrought-iron gates, furious. She walked up to Mu Shaoze and twisted his arm forcefully, but the arm was too solid, unsqueezeable.

"What exactly is going on between you and Ziqiao? What did you do to that girl?"

Mu Shaoze ground his teeth fiercely, "Why does she get to call off the engagement first? Just because she wants to?"

Fu Shiyan shared apple slices with the two little ones, "Why can’t she call off the engagement first? If you have someone else in your heart, don’t waste her time."

Mu Shaoze looked at Fu Shiyan, his eyes filled with hostility, "Who said I have someone else?"

Fu Shiyan put down the fruit knife and methodically wiped his hands with a napkin, "Is that not so? Without finding out the facts, you pinned the blame on Zhou Ziqiao. Is it because you don’t want to tarnish the image of your first love? I’d respect you more if you just admitted it."

Mu Shaoze glared at Fu Shiyan, who seemed to enjoy the drama unfolding.

Fu Mu’an and Fu Jinyan stood by Fu Shiyan’s side, like two little bodyguards.

Seeing this, Mu Shaoze couldn’t help but laugh in anger.

"You two little traitors, have you forgotten how Uncle Four doted on you and took care of you when you were young? As soon as Dad comes back, you immediately switch sides."

Fu Mu’an shook his head, "No, Uncle Four, I think Dad makes sense. We think you haven’t been good to Auntie Ziqiao."

Fu Jinyan nodded, "You really do treat Auntie Pig Demon badly. She’s young and beautiful, why should she have to tolerate you? Wouldn’t it be better to find a man like Dad who is tall, handsome, rich, and warm?"

Mu Shaoze was surprised, "Am I not tall, handsome, or rich?"

Fu Jinyan said earnestly, "You’re not warm."

Mu Shaoze: "... You really are my dear nephew!"

Meanwhile, An Yan had arranged for Zhou Ziqiao to stay at Zhuo’er Apartment, a highly sought-after property located behind Zhuo’er Street.

Zhuo’er Street is a famous shopping district in Jiangcheng, known as the "Little Paris."

An Yan owned five shops on this street, and coincidentally one of them had a lease expiring. She had initially planned to open a flower shop, but since it didn’t align with Zhou Ziqiao’s hobbies and career, she changed plans last minute to a dessert shop instead.

Zhou Ziqiao looked out from the floor-to-ceiling window, the expansive view refreshing and pleasing to the eye.

"Just feel at ease living here. I bought this place because of its location. I never lived here after remodeling, but a cleaner comes every three days. I’ll ask her to come daily now that you’re here," said An Yan, patting her shoulder. "I’ll leave the dessert shop’s decoration, hiring, and opening all up to you."

Zhou Ziqiao smiled, "As long as you trust me, that’s all that matters."

"You’ve traveled and tasted the world, naturally I trust you," An Yan laughed. "It’s noon now, what should we order?"

"Crayfish?" Zhou Ziqiao suggested.

An Yan nodded and started ordering on her phone.

In less than forty minutes, the delivery arrived.

The two sat on the carpet, eagerly opening the food packages.

During the meal, Zhou Ziqiao received a message.

She read out with raised eyebrows, "I’ll arrive at Jiangcheng Airport tonight at seven, roll over to pick me up."

She looked at An Yan, "My childhood friend, Song Nanli."

An Yan blinked, "Is he interested in you?"

Zhou Ziqiao shook her head, "It’s absolutely impossible between us, because he’s that, haha."

"Does my fourth brother know?"

"He doesn’t know, he doesn’t understand the people around me, probably because he doesn’t care."

An Yan’s eyes shimmered, "Someone as wonderful as you is bound to find that person who values you."

Zhou Ziqiao chuckled softly, "I feel unprecedentedly relaxed now. I’m ready to say goodbye to the past."

She pulled out her phone and thoroughly blocked and deleted all contact information of Mu Shaoze.

An Yan: "..."

After lunch, An Yan left her car keys with her, "I’m leaving the car with you. Ayan is coming to pick me up. The shop’s matters can wait; do it when you feel like it. Call me if you need anything."

Zhou Ziqiao nodded, "Okay."

After sending off An Yan, she sat on the sofa and covered her face with her hands.

Soon, tears began to flow through her fingers.

Deleting contact numbers was useless because they were etched in her heart.

These five years, she had truly lost herself, which was quite sad.

From today, she decided to live for herself.

At seven in the evening, at Jiangcheng Airport.

Zhou Ziqiao got out of the car and hurried to the arrival gate.

As she approached, her breath hitched at the sight of the man’s tall and statuesque silhouette; she would recognize him even if she turned to ashes.

"Shaoze!" a crisp female voice called out.

Zhou Ziqiao looked over to see He Xiyue in a red coat, quickly approaching with her suitcase.
