Chapter 284: Chapter 284: Bo Leng Feels He’s Not Worthy of An Yan (Extra)
Tomb robbers, when digging tunnels, would not just make one; they would dig holes in three directions: east, south, and north, in addition to the west, to ensure they had a way out.
Because the archaeological team’s tent was in the southeast, both the eastern and southern entrances were no-go zones, so Bo Leng chose the northern entrance to escape.
After all, having been poisoned by a snake, he was somewhat affected, experiencing palpitations and nausea.
He leaned against a tree to catch his breath, then ran towards another exit of the dense forest.
Following the plan they had made earlier, Bo Leng arrived at a pawnshop in Banqiao Town.
Sheng Xing and the shop owner had been friends for many years.
After Bo Leng entered the shop, Sheng Yu and Little Ou gathered around him.
Little Ou frowned, "Brother Leng, you look really pale, did something happen?"
Bo Leng nodded, "That ancient tomb had many mechanisms, and even a tomb within a tomb, with venomous snakes. I got bitten by a cobra."
Little Ou asked, "How are you now?"
"I’ve already had the antivenom, it’s fine, don’t worry," Bo Leng said.
When Sheng Yu thought about Bo Leng jumping into the ancient tomb to save Mu Anyan, she felt so furious she could gnash her teeth.
"Brother Leng, what about that Mu Anyan?"
Bo Leng gave her a look, "What are you trying to say?"
Sheng Yu’s eyes reddened, "You only mentioned the tomb had traps and dangers, why didn’t you mention how many treasures were inside? Brother Leng, are you planning to betray our team for Mu Anyan?"
Silence fell around them.
Bo Leng’s cold eyes narrowed, "Little Ou asked me why my complexion was poor, I was merely answering his question. I haven’t even had the chance to elaborate on what exactly is in the tomb, and you’re already questioning my attitude like this. If you think I’m betraying the team, I can leave right now."
Sheng Yu hadn’t intended to push him away; she was merely looking to vent her own emotions and hadn’t thought it would drive him off.
Seeing Bo Leng turning to leave, Sheng Xing stopped him, "Aleng, Little Yu didn’t mean it, don’t stoop to her level."
Bo Leng turned around, "Uncle Xing, five years ago, you all saved me, and I willingly entered this trade with you, but if you doubt my loyalty, then I think there is no need for me to stay here."
Sheng Yu, wiping her tears, "Brother Leng, I was wrong, it’s just that seeing you jump into the ancient tomb for that Mu Anyan, regardless of your own safety, made me..."
"You know exactly how Mu Anyan fell into the tomb. The ground had been disturbed, and if someone got injured or killed, the whole team would be wanted."
Sheng Yu argued, "But we’ve done this kind of thing before!"
Bo Leng coldly said, "Mu Anyan has the backing of both the Fu Family and the Mu Family. Even if she doesn’t rely on her family background, just by herself, she is an influential figure in the world of archaeology, someone we can’t afford to provoke. Do you want to make us wanted worldwide?"
Sheng Yu choked, unable to utter a word in rebuttal.
She bit her lip and ran back to her room.
Sheng Xing sighed, "Aleng, Little Yu is just being childish, I’ll talk to her later. You go and rest."
He looked at Little Ou, "Take Aleng to rest."
Little Ou nodded, "Brother Leng, I’ll take you to your room."
Since the shop was only a temporary lodging, there weren’t many rooms available, so some rooms were shared by three or four people.
Knowing that Bo Leng was always aloof, they reserved a single room for him.
Bo Leng said thank you and entered the room.
He went into the bathroom, took off his T-shirt, and looking at the mirror at the snakebite on his chest, he recalled the scene of Mu Anyan sucking out the venom for him.
He didn’t dare to open his eyes wide, squinting slightly at the waterfall of soft ink-black hair, he couldn’t help wanting to touch it.
Her lips were so soft, he longed to taste them.
He sharply closed his eyes, stepped under the shower, turned on the knob, and let the ice-cold water pour down on him.
This woman was fatally attractive to him.
But, he wasn’t worthy of her.
He had to suppress the thought of wanting to possess her.
Zhumu Inn.
An Yan had taken a shower and brushed her teeth five times before finally leaving the bathroom.
Fu Jinqiao held a hairdryer by the bed, "Younger Auntie, come here, let me take care of you."
"Boot-licker," An Yan chuckled softly, sitting by the bed.
Fu Jinqiao turned on the switch to blow dry her hair, "Younger Auntie, you have no idea, when Professor He was banging on the door, I was squinting against the headboard. I thought it was an earthquake; I rolled straight onto the floor."
An Yan laughed out loud, "That’s very much your style. It would be abnormal if you were normal."
Fu Jinqiao pouted, "Where am I not normal? If I were not normal, could Third Brother love me so much?"
An Yan nodded repeatedly, "You’re absolutely right, you’re abnormally normal."
Fu Jinqiao was all smiles, "Oh, by the way, Younger Auntie, who were you trying to save when you jumped into the tomb earlier?"
An Yan’s eyes dropped, "I was saving a dog that got bitten by a snake."
"Huh? Then why didn’t I see you carrying it out?"
An Yan ground her teeth, "Guess it thought it was too ugly and didn’t want to ’ugly’ up to me, so it went off to die somewhere else."
Fu Jinqiao’s eyes darted around; she felt An Yan was alluding to something, "Younger Auntie, why do I feel like you’re not talking about a dog, but a dog of a man?"
An Yan: "..."
My dear niece, when did you get so clever?
Fu Jinqiao blinked, "It couldn’t really be, could it?"
An Yan glanced at her, "How could that be? Alright, my hair’s dry now, let’s sleep early."
Fu Jinqiao said, "You go to bed first, Younger Auntie. I’ll wait up for Third Brother to come."
An Yan raised an eyebrow, "Third Brother is coming?"
Fu Jinqiao sighed faintly, "Well, with your accident and all! I got quite scared. So, I called Third Brother and he’s rushing over."
"You continue to make things up."
"I’m not making it up, I’m not just using you as an excuse to have him come see me." Fu Jinqiao coughed lightly, her voice getting softer, "I just missed him a tiny little bit."
An Yan smiled, "Go on then, get him a room. Where else do you expect him to stay?"
Fu Jinqiao nodded, "Look at my blockhead, I totally forgot about that. I’m off to do that now."
An Yan crawled into bed, "Make it quick and turn off the corridor lights and all, don’t come back here."
Fu Jinqiao exclaimed, "Oh I’m almost too embarrassed."
An Yan waved it off, "Jinqiao, I’ve realized that you’re increasingly showing potential to be a Green Tea Bitch."
Fu Jinqiao: "...Well, I’m off then! You can sleep some more."
An Yan kindly reminded, "Don’t pick the room next to mine, the soundproofing here isn’t good."
Fu Jinqiao: "..."
After hearing the door close, An Yan pulled up Fu Shiyan’s recording and put on her eye mask.
Fu Jinqiao went to the service desk downstairs and took two more guest rooms, one for her and Mu Qianfan, and one for his assistant.
She made sure the room she shared with Mu Qianfan was quite far from An Yan’s.
Back in her room, she lay on the big bed and sent the room number to Mu Qianfan.
After rolling around a couple of times, she suddenly jumped out of bed and dashed into the bathroom, wanting to wash up nicely for Third Brother’s arrival.
Fifteen minutes later, she emerged from the bathroom smelling fragrant, just as there was a knock at the door.
Fu Jinqiao opened the door excitedly and saw the man she hadn’t seen in half a month standing before her.
She threw herself into his arms, "Third Brother, I’ve missed you."
Mu Qianfan, carrying his suitcase, hugged her and walked inside.
"How’s Little Five doing?"
Fu Jinqiao nodded earnestly, "Younger Auntie and Little Five are doing fine, although it seems like a dog has annoyed her."
"A dog?"
Fu Jinqiao recounted the recent events, to which Mu Qianfan surmised, "I seriously suspect that dog is actually a man in human skin doing a dog’s deeds."
Fu Jinqiao agreed, "That’s what I think, too."
Mu Qianfan smiled, "Apart from Old Dog Fu, I haven’t seen any man who could affect Little Five’s mood. Maybe this time Little Five’s spring has arrived?"
"What if that person is a tomb robber?"
"Then it’s all about fate."
Fu Jinqiao’s small hand sneaked up his shirt, searching upwards, "Third Brother, what about my spring then?"
Mu Qianfan caressed her slender and soft waist, "Your spring, Third Brother will create for you."
The next day, when An Yan saw Mu Qianfan and Fu Jinqiao, it was already noon.
The three of them found a stir-fry restaurant, ready to have some dishes.
An Yan and Fu Jinqiao ordered the food.
Mu Qianfan glanced outside and said, "You order first, I’ll go outside for a smoke."
The two didn’t think much of it and continued selecting dishes.
Stepping outside the restaurant, Mu Qianfan eyed the figure from just moments ago and followed after it.
