Chapter 282: Bo Leng Saved An Yan

Chapter 282: Chapter 282: Bo Leng Saved An Yan

The echoes of Bo Leng’s voice filled the empty ancient tomb, and An Yan suddenly halted her steps, but it was already too late.

The sound of whooshing came from both sides towards the center, exactly where she was.

Instinctively, she threw herself to the side, only to feel her body being tightly grasped by someone, rolling together to the side.

She was completely passive, especially with a man’s arm tightly wrapped around her chest.

A wave of humiliation and helplessness swept over her, and it was incredibly embarrassing!

With a thud, the two finally stopped, a muffled grunt coming from the man’s throat.

The arm that had been holding her suddenly loosened, and An Yan quickly rolled out of the man’s embrace, sitting up with a push.

The flashlight that had fallen earlier now conveniently illuminated their positions, and An Yan saw Bo Leng leaning his back against the wall with a tight frown.

Supporting himself with his hands on the ground, he slowly sat up, one leg stretched out and the other bent.

He took a long breath, "Are you all right?"

An Yan pursed her lips, "Even without you, I would have dodged it."

After hearing this, Bo Leng chuckled scornfully, "Are you saying I’m doing a redundant and unnecessary act, like taking off my pants just to fart?"

An Yan wasn’t ungrateful, but the thought of his arm touching her really irked her.

Although it wasn’t deliberate, she still felt awkward.

It’s like walking down the road and suddenly encountering a pile of dung, which you find disgusting.

At that moment, a vicious dog pounces towards you.

In a time of crisis, you turn and run, only to find that the dog hasn’t caught up.

Turning back, you see the dog busily devouring that pile of dung.

You are grateful for the dung, but you still wouldn’t find it adorable.

Of course, she only thought these thoughts in her mind, for if this bastard knew she compared him to dung, he’d probably explode in anger.

What if he were to lash out and do something disgraceful?

After all, his Combat Power was higher than hers.

An Yan cleared her throat, "Are you all right?"

"If I say I’m fine, would you believe me?"

"Yes."

Bo Leng’s lips twitched, "...Do you have no heart at all?"

An Yan responded calmly, "My heart is only for my husband and children."

Bo Leng flicked his tongue against his cheek, feeling strangely moved yet uncomfortable.

An Yan looked at his downcast face and asked again, "Are you really okay?"

Bo Leng felt that even if he said he was in pain, she would not sympathize; he shook his head, "I’m fine."

An Yan stood up, dusted off her clothing, and turned around to look, the flashlight was shining among several arrows.

Today, she had committed a blunder she hadn’t made in many years.

The ancient tomb was filled with mechanisms, and just a bit of carelessness could cost one’s life.

She had ignored the danger because she was upset with Bo Leng.

But this man really had a way of affecting her emotions.

An Yan walked over, retrieved the flashlight, and saw a green coating on the arrows; she didn’t need to guess to know it was poison.

She turned back to Bo Leng, "Since we’re here, let’s make a round. You’d be thinking about it otherwise."

Bo Leng slowly stood up, his slender fingers flicking off the dust on his clothes, and chuckled lightly, "You’re so kind to take me around? Aren’t you just hoping to use me as a live target, to clear all the traps, so the archaeological team can enter safely?"

He was indeed not dumb, An Yan had exactly that in mind.

She shrugged, "I meant what I said, it’s your own thinking that’s dark, assuming others are the same."

Bo Leng clicked his tongue, "It’s hard to deal with women and villains in this world."

An Yan glared at him, and turned to walk forward.

This tomb was indeed very large, the largest of the Han Dynasty era that had been excavated thus far.

An Yan walked cautiously, noticing several pairs of green eyes in the darkness.

Ferret-badgers, small creatures that latch onto their prey without letting go, were nearly extinct.

Unexpectedly, there were quite a few still existing in this ancient tomb.

The two continued forward, abruptly stopping in their tracks at the same time.

In front of them was a coffin, a lacquered coffin inlaid with jade.

The idea of extravagant burial in the Han Dynasty was deeply ingrained in people’s minds, especially during the Western Han period, where some royal tombs had many invaluable jade threaded garments and lacquered coffins inlaid with jade.

However, due to enormous expenses, not every king or monarch could afford such elaborate burials.

Not until the Eastern Han period did people gradually abandon this luxurious burial method.

This jade coffin was different from those seen in other ancient tombs, not only was it inlaid with jade, but its uniquely shaped jade pieces were connected with gold and silver foils for decoration, the jade discs symmetrically placed among diamond-shaped jade pieces, gracefully crafted with exquisite design.

Bo Leng examined the jade coffin carefully, "This coffin must be for a joint burial of a husband and wife. Because the jade pieces on either side of the coffin, one side is soft, the other side is sharp."

An Yan nodded, "Indeed it is, how long have you been a tomb robber?"

"Almost five years."

An Yan looked at him somewhat surprised, "You learned the Divining the Perfect Burial Spot Technique in just five years?"

Bo Leng nodded, "I might have a bit of talent."

An Yan scoffed lightly, "Just say you were born to be a tomb robber."

Bo Leng caught her sarcasm but wasn’t angry; instead, he smiled and said, "If I hadn’t become a tomb robber, I wouldn’t have met you."

An Yan gave him a cold stare, he was indeed a man who shone with a bit of sunshine.

Her voice was cold as she retorted, "Even if you met me, you and I could never share common ground, not even enough to be friends."

Bo Leng wasn’t upset; for some reason, no matter if she reproached or insulted him, he always felt good hearing her voice.

He suddenly realized he might be a bit masochistic.

"My name is Bo Leng." He introduced himself earnestly, "Bo as in thickness, Leng as in cold."

An Yan chuckled, "Cold-hearted and unemotional, so your name is Bo Leng.

Bo Leng: "..."

"Mu Anyan."

Bo Leng was somewhat surprised; he thought she was too scornful to introduce herself to him.

Even though he knew her name, her introducing herself was not the same concept as him knowing it.

"There are characters here." An Yan crouched at the lower right corner of the jade coffin, pointing at a line of small characters.

Bo Leng got up and crouched beside her, his eyes on her fair neck, and he swallowed.

"What does it say above?"

An Yan carefully discerned the text, but the characters were incomplete.

They could vaguely make out that it was a tomb of the Liu family, surely the tomb of a prince or duke.

An Yan turned and spoke, "It should be a duke..."

Bo Leng was only inches away, close enough for them to hear each other’s breathing.

An Yan’s heart skipped a beat, and she forcefully pushed him aside, anger in her voice, "Why are you standing so close to me?"

Bo Leng looked at her flustered state and found it amusing, "You said there were characters here, didn’t that mean to go look? Besides, I was worried you might be in danger, just in case you triggered something."

An Yan felt he was being unreasonable, "I have seen so many jade coffins, none without opening the coffin has a mechanism."

She pointed emphatically at the characters below, visibly annoyed, "Just a few characters, what kind of mechanism could it possibly have?"

Her fingertip accidentally touched the missing characters, and suddenly, with a thunderous noise, the ground she was crouching on collapsed, and she fell down.

Bo Leng was equally astonished; he had seen numerous ancient tombs over these five years.

Just as An Yan had said, as long as the coffin was not opened, there were no mechanisms in the jade coffin itself, for it would damage the construction of the jade coffin.

Bo Leng leaned over the collapse shouting, "Mu Anyan, are you alright?"
