Chapter 274: Chapter 274: The Man’s Figure Resembles Fu Shiyan
The night in Banqiao Town was bustling and lively, with red lanterns hanging from shops on both sides, outlining the town’s quaint architectural style. Numerous stalls were set up along the streets, with vendors calling out and tourists laughing, filled with the thick scent of life.
This long alley gathered life together, and when spread out, became the human world.
Passing through the bustling crowd, An Yan caught up with a figure.
Her hand had not yet touched the man’s shoulder when he quickly turned around, eyeing her warily.
An Yan paused, unable to retract her hand in time, and it hung mid-air.
Their eyes met.
It was a handsome face with sword-like eyebrows, phoenix eyes, a straight nose, and thin lips; but it was not the face she longed for day and night.
A hint of disappointment was unavoidable in An Yan’s eyes, as her heart sank.
The man’s eyes narrowed slightly, observing the woman’s disappointed expression, and raised an eyebrow, "What, you think of committing a crime from behind, and of self-defense in front?"
This voice wasn’t right either.
Fu Shiyan’s voice was more crisp, unlike this man’s husky and slightly roguish tone.
An Yan slightly furrowed her brows, withdrawing her hand, "I’m sorry, I mistook you for someone else."
The man’s gaze remained unyielded, inspecting her as if assessing a treasure, which made An Yan very uncomfortable. She turned and walked back.
The corner of the man’s eyes suddenly glanced not far away, and his expression hardened.
He went straight to a man with a buzz cut, grabbing his wrist and lowering his voice, "Dongzi, don’t stir up trouble, hand it over to me."
Dongzi clicked his tongue, "Brother Leng, are you interested in that girl?"
"Don’t create unnecessary problems, remember why we’re here," Bo Leng said sternly.
Dongzi reluctantly handed over the phone, "Here, take it."
Bo Leng took the phone and walked against the crowd.
An Yan walked back with her head down, feeling dejected.
The instant she saw the man’s back, her heart surged.
Alas, a similar back was still not her Ayan.
Over the years, they had never stopped searching, following every little clue in hopes of finding something, but to no avail.
Initially, she had installed a waterproof tracker inside the bullet pendant she gave Fu Shiyan. Unfortunately, the tracker had always been showing the Soli Sea Area until one day, the signal disappeared, probably due to battery failure.
Perhaps the pendant sank to the bottom of the sea or was swallowed by a fish.
Either scenario terrified her, for it might have been Fu Shiyan’s fate as well.
However, she imagined that during Fu Shiyan’s struggle with Gu Chengming, the pendant broke off and fell into the sea.
No matter what others thought, she believed that Fu Shiyan was still alive.
Unconsciously, her eyes began to blur.
She raised her hand to wipe her cheek when suddenly her wrist was grabbed.
An Yan glanced quickly; it was a man’s hand.
With her other hand, she gripped the man’s arm, pulled her grabbed wrist free, and attempted to throw him over her shoulder.
The man was prepared and firmly held her, pressing his solid chest tightly against An Yan’s back.
An Yan caught a glimpse of the man’s smooth, tan forearm, and for a moment, was bewildered. Fu Shiyan had also liked to envelop her like this, though much more gently.
Observing the woman in his embrace appearing lost in thought, the man let out a soft chuckle.
It being summer, people dressed quite lightly.
The man’s body temperature was naturally higher than the woman’s, so the intense heat felt like a fire burning An Yan’s back.
This entangled posture, coupled with the man’s teasing laughter, made An Yan very angry.
She rebuked, "Let go!"
Bo Leng scoffed lightly, "The dog bites Lv Dongbin and doesn’t recognize the good-hearted."
An Yan remembered this voice; she had just heard it.
She hadn’t expected to accidentally provoke such a nasty creature.
Just as she was about to explode, the man released her.
An Yan quickly turned around, ready to hit him with a straight punch, but the man caught it with his palm.
Bo Leng smirked, "Is this a ’shy punch’?"
An Yan shook off his hand, and just as she was about to hit him, the man presented a cellphone to her, "It was just stolen by a pickpocket."
An Yan was momentarily stunned. So, he was here to return her phone.
She thought about it, and the phone must have been lost after she patted the man on the shoulder and became distraught.
She should thank him, because the phone contained things related to Fu Shiyan.
But the thought of him having hugged her and touched her hand made her reluctant to express her thanks.
However, good manners didn’t allow her to act like that.
An Yan snatched the phone and said "thanks" brusquely, then turned and left.
Bo Leng squinted his eyes slightly, his lips curling up a bit.
An Yan gripped the phone tightly, blaming herself for nearly losing it and feeling embarrassed and annoyed that she had been held by a stranger; how could this man compare to her Ayan!
As she walked, fuming, she bumped straight into Fu Jinqiao, who had come looking for her.
Fu Jinqiao staggered, and An Yan quickly grabbed her arm.
"Sorry, Jinqiao, I bumped into you."
Fu Jinqiao clutched her chest, "Yours are soft, I bumped into you and it’s fine. But mine are kind of fake, did it hurt when I bumped into you?"
At this, An Yan burst out laughing, her frustrated mood instantly improving.
"Yours are like sponges, not stones."
Fu Jinqiao giggled, "You say, despite ’Third Bro’ squeezing them, these little buns haven’t turned into big buns."
An Yan tapped her on the forehead, "Should I be hearing this?"
Fu Jinqiao linked arms with her, "Only noble members get to hear, you treating to dinner tonight will count as your membership fee."
An Yan laughed, "It seems my membership is a fake one, why don’t you tell me what true members get to hear?"
"I’m really shy, sorry."
Fu Jinqiao was now playing the role of the good girl. She had even taken An Yan to a lingerie store before, helping her choose underwear.
She spoke bluntly about planning to present herself as Mu Qianfan’s birthday gift during his birthday.
At that time, Fu Jinqiao was drooling so much, An Yan couldn’t bear to look.
six years had almost passed since they had been together, and they were planning to have their wedding at year-end.
They had initially wanted to wait for Fu Shiyan to return to hold the wedding, but when exactly could Fu Shiyan come back?
Perhaps in ten years, twenty years, or even fifty years; nobody could be sure.
An Yan knew they were sympathetic towards her, wanting to give her something to look forward to, but how could she let them keep waiting for her.
Over the years, she had repeatedly suggested they hold the wedding, and finally, they agreed to have it at the end of the year.
An Yan pinched Fu Jinqiao’s cheeks, "This layer of makeup is pretty thick, your skin’s not that thin."
Fu Jinqiao glared at her, "Keep that up, and I may start calling you Little Five Sister."
An Yan had figured out her tricks; she called her "Younger Auntie" when she needed favors and flipped to calling her "Little Five Sister" when she was really annoyed.
She smiled, "Fine, I won’t accompany you to the tomb tomorrow."
"Younger Auntie, what do you want to eat? I’ll treat you later."
"Your face changes faster than a Sichuan opera mask."
"It still lacks a bit," Fu Jinqiao suddenly remembered An Yan bumping into her, "Younger Auntie, what happened just now? You seemed distracted?"
