Chapter 178: Chapter 178: Issues with the Appraisal Report
Bishui Bay.
After returning home, Fu Shiyan changed into a set of loungewear and went into the kitchen.
An Yan curled up on the sofa calling Su Yue, talking about the things that had happened these past few days.
Su Yue had a facial mask on, and her mouth movements were minimal, so she spoke as if she had something in her mouth.
"Do you think that Qianqian might be another daughter of the An Family? Parents are usually the ones without any guard against their children. Du Xinlan is so cautious now, how could she casually open the door to a stranger?"
An Yan hummed in acknowledgment, "I’ve had that suspicion too, but all these years, An Zaili hasn’t had another daughter."
"One from the past? One who’s so scandalous that the An Family dare not acknowledge her?" Su Yue pondered.
An Yan sighed, "I’ve thought about that as well, but after looking into it, there’s no sign of such a person as Qianqian existing."
Su Yue also sighed, "I’m not good at wrapping my head around these convoluted matters, I can’t help you there. Oh, is Old Dog Fu beside you right now?"
"He’s in the kitchen cooking."
"Well, that’s more like it. You’ve been upset because of his romantic past. But how did he get involved with Mu Yingying two years ago?"
An Yan pursed her lips, "I don’t think I can bring myself to ask that. Honey, how did you get into bed with her?"
"If it were me, I wouldn’t be able to ask either. Just hearing about it feels like swallowing a dead fly – absolutely disgusting. And it’s like a terrible curse, replaying over and over in my mind. I wouldn’t be able to live with that." Su Yue said, "Luckily, I don’t have that trouble now. I’m just hoping Si Heng cheats sooner so we can end our agreement and rush to the Civil Affairs Bureau for our little red book."
An Yan chuckled, "I think Si Heng seems nice, don’t you have feelings for him at all?"
"Have feelings? I don’t want any. I heard he has a First Love, and I don’t want to end up heartbroken when the time comes. Nowadays, nothing is cheaper than a crush or sincerity."
The two chatted for a while longer before hanging up.
An Yan walked into the kitchen and leaned against the marble countertop, watching Fu Shiyan cook the noodles in an unhurried manner.
"I would like some praise. Today’s noodles are handmade by me."
"Well done, President Fu."
Fu Shiyan clicked his tongue, "That sounds perfunctory."
An Yan raised an eyebrow, "Then what do you want? I’m still evaluating you, mind you."
Fu Shiyan lifted the noodles into a bowl, turned around, and took her slender waist in his hands, "Wife, can you please stop being angry with me? Is that okay?"
An Yan looked at him – she still loved him, deeply so.
She took a step forward and leaned into his chest, "Let’s reconcile. I was really overcome with a mix of emotions before and was somewhat unfair to you. But I don’t want you to have any contact with her at all, understand?"
"Understood." Fu Shiyan hugged her gently and swayed. "I will uphold my virtue as a husband; my heart has room only for you and no one else."
He kissed her forehead, then her eyebrows, eyes, nose, and finally her lips.
An Yan pushed him lightly, "Stop kissing, let’s eat first."
Fu Shiyan’s Adam’s apple bobbed, "Then we’ll eat first, and have another kind of dessert afterwards."
An Yan punched him playfully, "Your mind is filled with nothing but those messy thoughts all day long."
Fu Shiyan teased her, "Don’t you think about it too?"
An Yan snorted, "I don’t have time to think about such romantic matters right now; the leads are about to dry up."
Fu Shiyan looked at her gaunt little face with heartache. "After we eat, let’s go through the clues together again."
An Yan nodded, "Yes, we’ll think better on a full stomach."
Fu Shiyan prepared beef soup, and two bowls of beef noodles were served.
On a cold winter’s night, the two sat side by side, eating the steaming bowls of noodles.
It was very cozy.
An Yan patted her round little belly, "I’m a bit stuffed."
"Eat more, you’ve lost a lot of weight recently." Fu Shiyan also put down his chopsticks, "From now on, it’s my responsibility to fatten you up."
An Yan leaned her head on his shoulder, laughing, "Then you better not complain about me later, forcing me to lose weight."
Fu Shiyan kissed her perky little nose, "I never will."
An Yan pushed his head away, "Your mouth is greasy, don’t kiss me!" After which she scooted off to wash up.
Fu Shiyan also got up and followed her.
An Yan brushed her teeth while handing him a toothbrush with toothpaste already applied.
Fu Shiyan took it, and the two stood in front of the mirror brushing their teeth together, like an old married couple.
They gargled and washed their faces in unison, bubbling sounds filling the space.
As they washed, it was unclear who initiated, but they ended up kissing each other.
The loneliness of this period wasn’t near enough to be sated by just last night.
The two kissed each other desperately, their lips and teeth conveying their love as clothes rustled to the floor, ushering in a night of tender passion.
In the middle of the night, An Yan, with swollen eyes, pounded on him, "Can’t you be a little gentler?"
"I was very gentle, I was afraid of hurting you."
An Yan covered the man’s mouth, fearful of more rough words.
"Go get the medicine, I need to take it."
Fu Shiyan hummed in agreement, got up to fetch the medicine and water.
He popped a pill into his own mouth, then took a sip of water.
Seeing this, An Yan wanted to flee but was held down and forced to take the medicine.
She glared at him fiercely, "You’re not allowed to touch me for a month!"
"Hmm, my mistake."
An Yan discovered that since being with Fu Shiyan, he was the fastest to admit his wrongs.
It made her feel as though she was punching cotton, utterly powerless, with all the words she’d prepared stuck in her stomach.
Fu Shiyan embraced her, "Come, let’s go through the recent events carefully."
An Yan calmed down instantly, leaning on him as she started analyzing from the beginning.
The conclusion they reached was that they had to find Qianqian.
An Zaili would still need someone to keep an eye on, while for Yang Suhua, they could only hope she would wake up sooner, looking to find a breakthrough with her.
The following afternoon, hospital.
Mu Boyan went to the forensics department to collect the paternity test report.
After checking the report, a gleam flashed in his eyes, with the document saying: Not a mother-daughter relationship.
He called An Yan, and she quickly answered.
"Let’s meet."
An Yan couldn’t guess the result; she was a bit excited.
She called Fu Shiyan, "Ayan."
"Did the results come out?"
"Second Brother Mu asked to meet with me."
"I’ll come to pick you up," Fu Shiyan said softly.
"No need, he might feel awkward if he sees you. I will come to you after meeting with him."
"Alright, be careful on your way."
"I know."
An Yan put on her down jacket and grabbed her bag before heading out the door.
She and Mu Boyan had agreed to meet at a coffee shop, and when she arrived, he was already there.
The man waved at her, "An Yan, over here."
An Yan walked over quickly and sat opposite him, "Second Brother Mu."
Mu Boyan took a report out of his pocket and handed it to her.
An Yan took a deep breath before opening it, unable to hide the disappointment in her eyes, her lips twisting slightly, "So it turns out not to be the case."
Mu Boyan pushed his glasses up, "There’s a problem with the paternity report."
