Chapter 164 Reconciliation

Chapter 164: Chapter 164 Reconciliation

Fu Shiyan turned off the wall light, holding her, but not feeling the slightest bit sleepy.

An Yan lay on her side, her gaze unfocused as she stared toward the curtains, feeling a chill in her heart.

Fu Shiyan didn’t say anything to her; she had waited all afternoon and night.

It seemed she was too confident, too confident in their relationship.

For the next two weeks, An Yan left early and returned late, even soaking herself in the studio on rest days.

Su Yue noticed something was off and called An Yan into the office.

"What’s happened? You’re not resting on your days off?"

An Yan sipped her coffee, "Nothing."

"Old Dog Fu is cheating?" Seeing that An Yan didn’t argue, Su Yue’s eyes widened, "No way! Did I guess right? Did Old Dog Fu really cheat? Who is the other woman?"

An Yan set down her coffee cup and sighed lightly, "There’s a woman clinging to him, although he’s refused, it’s not like the way he used to refuse."

"Playing hard to get?"

"No, it’s not like before when he might have beaten her up and driven her out of Jiangcheng. Now it’s more like he’s saying ’keep your distance from me’."

Su Yue frowned, "So Old Dog Fu is soft on her?"

"You could say that," An Yan didn’t want to admit it, but she eventually lost to the words ’soft hearted’.

"Who is she?"

An Yan stopped hiding it from her, "Mu Yingying."

"You haven’t seen her many times, right? Once at the Mu Family and once at the resort. When did she and Old Dog Fu start something?"

"I don’t know." An Yan took a deep breath, feeling a twinge in her heart.

"Could it be that Old Dog Fu had something with her before you?"

An Yan shook her head, "I’m certain they didn’t have anything before, and I don’t know what went wrong in between."

"Hasn’t Old Dog Fu been acting off in any other way?"

"Yes, he’s been sleepwalking quite a few times, but recently it’s gotten much better."

"That’s because he has a guilty conscience! But is he blind? How can Mu Yingying compare to you? She’s not as shapely or as beautiful or as talented as you, she falls short in every aspect. I’m really curious where Mu Yingying’s confidence comes from, thinking she can definitely steal Old Dog Fu away."

An Yan shook her head, "I don’t know."

"But by being so cold to him, doesn’t he wonder what’s going on?"

"He hasn’t thought of it that way; he just thinks I’m busy with work, too tired."

"How about I have Si Heng probe him a bit?"

"No need. I hope he will talk to me on his own, not through someone else."

Su Yue sighed along with her, "My Baby Yan, why are you so pitiful?"

"There’s nothing pitiful about it." An Yan smiled, but the smile on her face lasted only a few seconds before fading away.

After work, An Yan walked out of the design studio.

The weather turned cold at the end of October; she tightened her scarf and walked down the stairs, only to see Fu Shiyan leaning against the car door, smoking.

"You’re early today." Fu Shiyan smiled and walked towards her, holding her tightly in his arms, "Wife, I’ve missed you so much."

"Don’t we see each other every day?"

"Every day?" Fu Shiyan released her, "You leave early and return late, and all I can do is hold you in my sleep. Wife, it’s been so many days without makeup. It hasn’t seen you in so many days."

An Yan naturally understood his insinuation, but with the thorn in her heart, she couldn’t be intimate with him. She pursed her lips, "Watch your language."

Fu Shiyan looked at her slightly reddened nose and found it incredibly cute. He couldn’t help but kiss it before kissing down to her lips.

An Yan gently pushed him away, "There are people around."

"Then we shall continue tonight." Fu Shiyan put his arm around her shoulder, "What would you like to eat? How about Moon Restaurant?"

"Sure, it’s been a while since I’ve had Sister Tang’s cooking."

"Eat more this time."

"Okay."

When they arrived at Moon Restaurant, Sister Tang was already waiting at the door, "An Yan, you haven’t been here for a while, what keeps you so busy?"

An Yan linked arms with Sister Tang as they walked inside, "The studio’s been so hectic, I spend all day drawing drafts..."

Fu Shiyan followed behind the pair, unable to conceal the warmth in his eyes.

Sister Tang introduced several new dishes to An Yan, "You help Sister Tang test these dishes, give me your opinion."

"Okay," An Yan said with a gentle smile.

Soon, the dishes were served.

An Yan looked at Fu Shiyan, "You had this arranged in advance?"

Fu Shiyan curved his lips into a smile, "I was afraid you’d be hungry, so I let Sister Tang know ahead of time."

"How could you be so sure I’d get off work at this time today?"

"Because I wait outside the design studio every day after work. It’s just that I never see you."

That sentence made An Yan’s eyes well up with tears, and she hugged Fu Shiyan, "Ayan..."

"You’ve been neglecting me lately, Yanyan. I don’t know what I did wrong, but I’m really scared, my heart flutters in fear that you won’t talk to me."

An Yan thought that Fu Shiyan hadn’t done anything to betray her, she was just dissatisfied with his handling of the situation with Mu Yingying.

She shook her head, "I’m sorry, I’ll try to come home earlier from now on, okay?"

"Okay. Then can you make up for all the time you’ve neglected me tonight?"

An Yan playfully punched the man’s chest, "You’re so annoying!"

Fu Shiyan laughed as he held her tightly, and at that moment, his heart was finally full.

An Yan had been leaving early and coming back late these days, and even when he held her, he couldn’t get a response.

He felt very desolate, his heart hollow.

It wasn’t long before the door to the private room was pushed open, and Sister Tang brought in all the dishes.

Fu Shiyan served An Yan food, peeled shrimp for her, and picked out the bones from the fish, taking care of all aspects.

Looking at her slightly rounded belly, Fu Shiyan gently rubbed it, "Are you full?"

An Yan instantly became wary, "Is your next sentence going to be that you’re full and now it’s my turn to eat?"

"You’re stealing my lines," Fu Shiyan laughed, "But I can’t bear to press you just after you’ve eaten."

"And then?"

"First, I’ll take you to do some other exercise."

Driven by her curiosity, Fu Shiyan drove to the front street.

Everywhere was decorated with festive lights; there was a temple fair tonight.

Fu Shiyan and An Yan wove through the bustling crowd, wandering around like an ordinary couple.

Fu Shiyan bought her a palace lantern with eight characters embedded on it: "May you have a harmonious union and bear children early."

Fu Shiyan, smiling, said, "This suits us well. Yanyan, perhaps we should have a baby."

An Yan thought of Michael as a ticking time bomb and smiled, "Let’s wait a bit longer."

The disappointment in Fu Shiyan’s eyes was fleeting, but An Yan caught it.

She tiptoed up to kiss his lips, "Can we wait a little longer?"

Pleased by the kiss, Fu Shiyan wrapped his arms tightly around her waist and greedily kissed her lips, prying them open and chasing after that softness within.

The two embraced and kissed deeply amidst the crowded sea of people as if they were the only two people in the world.

Back at Bishui Bay, as soon as they entered the door,

Fu Shiyan pinned her against the wall, and a flurry of kisses rained down.

An Yan responded with equal passion, calling out Ayan’s name over and over again.

After a thoroughly satisfying round of intimacy, An Yan lay there lazily, "We didn’t take precautions just now, and we’re out of pills at home, could you go buy some?"

"I’m sorry, I got too excited earlier."

"Silly, I don’t blame you, go on."

Fu Shiyan kissed her forehead, "I’ll be back in a moment."

An Yan thought the barriers between them should have disappeared by now.

It was only ten minutes before Fu Shiyan returned.

He brought over a glass of water and popped out a pill.

An Yan reached out to take it, but Fu Shiyan drew back his hand.

"What’s wrong?"

Fu Shiyan put the glass and the pills on the nightstand and began unbuttoning his shirt, "Before we take the pill, let’s do it one more time."

An Yan: "..."
