Chapter 150: Chapter 150: You Are the Main Reason Behind My Severe Lack of Sleep

Fu Shiyan and An Yan left the police station at 3:30 in the afternoon.

Han Yang rose and slid the partition, splitting the car into two spaces.

An Yan, observing Fu Shiyan’s somewhat exhausted demeanor, said, "Ayan, I think something isn’t quite right with you these days."

Fu Shiyan didn’t want her to overthink, so he didn’t mention to her the woman who kept appearing in his mind.

He folded her into his arms and kissed her hair, "I’m fine, don’t worry."

An Yan leaned into the man’s embrace, feeling an inexplicable unease.

Two people had died in two consecutive days.

It seemed to have no connection, but in reality, it targeted her and Fu Shiyan.

An Yan speculated that this wasn’t an accident but the act of someone intentionally doing this, like a hidden mastermind behind the scenes constantly pushing them forward...

Following the address An Yan had given, Han Yang drove to the border between Xiangcheng and Sucheng, stopping in front of a traditional courtyard house.

The setting sun bathed the earth in orange-red hues, and its gentle light streamed into the exquisite courtyard.

The polished red doors, the gleaming gate knockers, and the two majestic stone lions standing on either side of the door—all were carriers of An Yan’s childhood memories.

Fu Shiyan, taking some of the gift boxes from Han Yang with one hand, led An Yan into the gate with the other.

Han Yang, carrying the gift boxes with both hands, followed behind them.

There was a piece of bluestone beneath the old pagoda tree in the yard, faintly glowing.

An elderly woman was pressing down the lever at the well for water; when she heard footsteps, she looked back, and her eyes instantly brightened.

She got up and ran over, embracing An Yan, "Oh, my dear granddaughter, you’ve finally come back. Grandma has missed you so much."

An Yan smiled and hugged her back, "Grandma, Yan has missed you too."

"Let grandma have a good look at you, almost half a year hasn’t passed, and you seem to have lost weight."

"Not at all, I’ve actually gained a pound."

Lu Yun wiped away tears. "Grandma’s eyes aren’t that clouded yet, just look, you must have not been resting well, with dark circles under your eyes. Don’t let the design drafts affect your sleep."

Affect sleep?

An Yan raised her eyebrow at Fu Shiyan, hear that? You are the main reason for my severe lack of sleep.

Lu Yun glanced at the affectionate exchange between An Yan and the man beside her, only then did she shift her gaze to Fu Shiyan.

An Yan, linking arms with Lu Yun, said, "Grandma, this is my man, Fu Shiyan."

"Isn’t it improper, referring to him as ’my man’ without being married yet?"

"Grandma, Ayan and I have registered our marriage."

Lu Yun’s mouth fell open, "Yan, why didn’t you tell grandma and grandpa about such a big matter sooner?"

An Yan’s eyes were lively as she led Lu Yun toward the house, "I’ll tell you more about it later, where’s grandpa?"

"You’re quite the headstrong child. Let’s see what your grandpa has to say about you later!" Though Lu Yun said so, her eyes were full of laughter.

Fu Shiyan watched the grandchild and grandmother go inside, then asked Han Yang, "Am I dressed appropriately?"

Han Yang, having never thought that Fu Shiyan could have such moments of insecurity, was momentarily stunned before nodding repeatedly, "Absolutely, you look incredibly handsome."

Fu Shiyan nodded and, straightening his tie, strode forward to follow them.

Inside the courtyard house, an elderly man with white hair sat at a square table, with two chess sets by his side, filled with black and white chess pieces.

He was immersed in contemplating his next move.

"Old man!"

The familiar voice reached his ears as Bi Mang looked up to see An Yan walking in with Lu Yun.

"Hmmph, you still know to come back?"

An Yan walked behind the old man and massaged his shoulders, "What a petty old man you are!"

Bi Mang put down the chess piece in his hand, "Grandpa is very angry, the consequences are serious."

An Yan smiled and said, "I’ve brought you a gift."

"What?"

An Yan ran to the door and brought Fu Shiyan in, "A son-in-law for my daughter!"

Bi Mang of course knew who Fu Shiyan was, not only because his reputation was legendary, but also because he was the savior of his granddaughter’s life.

Fu Shiyan set down the gift box in his hand and respectfully bowed, "Grandpa, Grandma, I am Fu Shiyan, Yanyan’s husband."

Bi Mang looked at the man in surprise, then turned to An Yan, "You, registered?"

An Yan’s eyes were all smiles, "Do you like this big gift?"

Lu Yun nodded, "As long as our Yan likes it, it’s fine. Shiyan, what do you like to eat? Grandma will go make it for you now."

Fu Shiyan, "I’m fine with anything, Grandma."

Lu Yun turned to see Han Yang following behind, "And you, young man, what would you like to eat?"

Han Yang naturally didn’t dare to order dishes, "I’m fine with anything. Elder Madam, may I help you with the cooking?"

Lu Yun looked at this clean and neat young man and smiled, "Sure, you can help me out."

Han Yang set his gift box aside and followed Lu Yun out.

An Yan took Fu Shiyan and sat opposite Bi Mang, "Grandpa just looks stern, but actually he’s very kind. You don’t need to be too nervous."

Fu Shiyan smiled and agreed.

Billion-dollar projects had never made Fu Shiyan nervous, but facing Bi Mang, he still felt somewhat restrained.

An Yan looked at Bi Mang, who was keeping a straight face, "Old man, if you keep being so serious, I’ll take my man and leave."

Bi Mang couldn’t help but laugh and cry, "Taking his side? The saying ’A grown daughter can’t be kept at home’ really is true."

He asked Fu Shiyan, "Can you play chess?"

"A little."

"Alright then, let’s play a game." Bi Mang said to An Yan, "You go and help Grandma."

An Yan knew that her grandpa and Fu Shiyan had things to discuss, so she shrugged, "Alright then, I’ll go. But you can’t bully my man."

Bi Mang watched her hopping figure and chuckled, "This child."

Fu Shiyan took off his suit jacket and draped it over the back of a chair, "Yanyan really missed you."

"Don’t speak too well of her now. The kid’s got a mind that knows no bounds," Bi Mang picked up a black piece and played it, "Although Yan is carefree, you must not let her be sad."

Fu Shiyan played a white piece, "I will definitely take good care of her, I swear on my life."

Bi Mang’s fingertip paused, "Two years ago."

Fu Shiyan said, "Two years ago, I was shot in the head and underwent a surgery, but it has no impact on my regular life."

Bi Mang heard this and knew that An Yan hadn’t told him the whole truth, probably not wishing for him to stir these troubled waters again.

Oh, his granddaughter, with such a sincere heart.

But the man did once save her with his own life, so it was worth it.

Bi Mang nodded, "You must treat her well, she had it tough when she was little. Abandoned by her father at the age of five, she lived on other people’s charity until I took her in at eight. Even though the villagers were kind to her, her soul was still wounded. When she came to the Bi Family, she was cautious and developed a people-pleaser personality. I found a psychologist to assess her, and the conclusion was that she had once suffered from autism. Probably during the time when she was abandoned by her father. When she was retrieved by An Zaili, I opposed it, but Yan still craved family affection, and also..."

She went back for you.

He did not say this, only sighed.

Fu Shiyan looked at Bi Mang, "Grandpa, it seems An Yan hasn’t shared this with you."

"What is it?"

"An Zaili is not Yanyan’s biological father, and Xu Zhen is not her biological mother."
