Chapter 95: The Visit

It had already been two days since Mo Chou returned home after being discharged from the hospital. She had actually insisted on being discharged the day after she woke up.

Mo Li was still a little hesitant but couldn’t say no to Mo Chou so they got a doctor to do one more check up and got her discharged after getting the green light.

Although Mo Li had agreed not to stay at the hospital, she was still super cautious. She would panic even if Mo Chou just let out a small cough.

Mo Li had even been accompanying Mo Chou to sleep so she could look after her at night. Even though her mother’s company was nice, Mo Chou was getting bored just lying in her bed.

Another thing was that Lu Jinhai still hadn’t contacted her. She had hoped that he would reach out to her from a different number but there was no sign of him at all. This made Mo Chou really restless.

She wanted to go and visit him in his home since he didn’t really leave her with any other choice.

Mo Chou knew that Mo Li would definitely not agree to her going out even if it was with her friends.

She didn’t want to sneak out at night like always either. Mo Chou was thinking about what to do when she saw Liu Dai. She decided to ask for his help hoping that he would feel pity on her.

"Big brother", she called out to Liu Dai while giving him her best puppy eyes. "I really want to go out with Li Chen and Huang Chunhua. Just a short trip. Can you please help me distract mom"?

Upon seeing Liu Dai’s hesitant expression, Mo Chou said once again, "please big brother, I promise I’ll be back soon. I just want some fresh air".

Liu Dai let out a resigned sigh and finally agreed. "Okay but don’t be gone for too long". He knew that Mo Chou was physically fine now and would be fine. He still told the bodyguards to follow her just in case.

Liu Dai informed Mo Chou that her bodyguards would also accompany her and Mo Chou agreed for the sake of his peace of mind.

"Of course, don’t worry. I’m just going to hang out with Huang Chunhua and Li Chen for a short while and then return home", Mo Chou reassured him.

Liu Dai then went to his parent’s room. He made the excuse of needing a new suit for an important event and needing Mo Li’s advice.

Mo Li was actually very happy to help as Liu Dai rarely asked anything from her.

Once they left for the mall, Mo Chou called both Huang Chunhua and Li Chen and they decided to meet near Lu Jinhai’s house.

Since she wasn’t going on an assassination mission, Mo Chou just took one of the family cars.

She was actually feeling a little nervous.

In order not to worry anyone, Mo Chou quickly got ready and arrived at the meeting place that they had decided.

Li Chen and Huang Chunhua also arrived not long after. They had been dropped off by their parents and there was still some distance till Lu Jinhai’s house so Mo Chou told them to get in the car.

Inside the car they were discussing how long Lu Jinhai had been out of contact and Mo Chou realised that he had actually been unreachable since the flooding and landslide.

"I hope that he’s alright," said Huang Chunhua in a low voice. Mo Chou and Li Chen also felt the same.

They reached the house (mansion) gateway. There was no security guard but there was a gate intercom with a camera.

Mo Chou pressed the button and was greeted via the intercom. Once she stated that she was Lu Jinhai’s friend, the gates opened and Mo Chou was able to drive through.

Once they reached the actual house, they were greeted by Lu Jinhai’s butler. Since they had met before, everyone was a little familiar with the butler.

Mo Chou went ahead and greeted the butler. The butler was polite but distanced but Mo Chou didn’t mind it. She then said, "We were worried about Lu Jinhai. Can you please inform him that his friends are here?".

The butler seemed a little troubled upon hearing her question. He quickly acted normal but Mo Chou still noticed it.

Not being able to help herself, Mo Chou questioned him, "Is everything alright? Is Lu Jinhai in any kind of trouble?

Upon hearing her worried tone, the butler said, "oh no, not at all miss, Young master is absolutely fine. Let me go inform him. I will be right back". The butler left right away leaving them in the reception room.

Now that they knew that Lu Jinhai was fine, Mo Chou, Lu Chen and Huang Chunhua were finally relieved.

But for some reason Mo Chou still had a feeling that the butler’s attitude was a little strange.

She didn’t want to worry Li Chen and Huang Chunhua unnecessarily based on her hunch, so she just kept her mouth shut and just waited patiently. The butler had gone to inform Lu Jinhai after all.

They waited for a while and finally saw the butler again but Lu Jinhai wasn’t with him like they hoped.

Rather, The butler just handed a cell phone to Mo Chou with a slightly apologetic expression. Mo Chou was a little confused but still took a hold of the phone handed to her.

"Hlo"? She greeted the caller in a questioning voice but all she heard was a sharp intake of breath.

Just as Mo Chou opened her mouth to question the butler, she heard Lu Jinhai’s voice from the other end of the phone, "hi, it’s me".

Mo Chou recognised his voice right away. She had several questions for him but she was unable to voice them out.

She saw that Li Chen was signalling her to ask him where he was so she asked, "Where are you? You’ve been gone and unreachable".

Huang Chunhua and Li Chen were also listening from the side as the phone was on loud speaker. A few seconds went by and Lu Jinhai finally spoke up again, "I switched universities and moved somewhere else. I’m okay but it’ll be best if you don’t try to contact me again".

Mo Chou just stood there in stunned silence upon hearing Lu Jinhai’s answer. Li Chen and Huang Chunhua were also extremely surprised, especially hearing Lu Jinhai’s cold voice. They had never heard Lu Jinhai use it with Mo Chou before.

Surprisingly, Huang Chunhua was the one who spoke up first. She said to the phone, "Why did you move all of a sudden? Why can’t we contact you"?

"It’s none of your concern. Just forget I ever existed".

The call abruptly hung up leaving everyone speechless. The butler gently took the phone back from Mo Chou’s hand.

"I think you young ladies should head home now", he said with a sigh. Mo Chou opened her mouth to ask the butler about Lu Jinhai but he just shook his head with a sympathetic expression.

Mo Chou knew that she would probably not be able to get anything out of the butler so she just gave up.

Lu Jinhai’s words were still echoing in her mind. Mo Chou had a lot of questions but no answers. Li Chen and Huang Chunhua were also quiet.

When Mo Chou dropped them off, they both gave her a hug.

Mo Chou was thankful for their silent comfort. After saying goodbye, Mo Chou started her drive back home. Although Lu Jinhai’s words had hurt her, Mo Chou didn’t want to lose contact with him.

Even the thought of losing him was painful. She knew that there must be a reason behind his abrupt decision.

Mo Chou had always respected his privacy but now, she wanted to get the answers no matter what.

"I’ll find you no matter where you hide".
