Chapter 31: Expensive demands

Mo Chou quickly held Mo Li before she hit the floor. Liu Dai heard the butler shout and started panicking. "What happened? Is mom alright?" He asked through the phone. Mo Chou still had the phone in her hand and answered him in a calm voice, "It’s alright. Mom just fainted because of shock".

Although Mo Chou said it like it was not a big deal, she couldn’t help but worry. Her soul had almost left her body when she saw Mo Li falling, but she was an assassin who had been trained after all so she quickly calmed down and started thinking for solutions instead.

Butler Xue was also terrified, if something happened to Mo Li, Liu Qiang would not spare him at all, but calmed down slowly when he saw Mo Chou’s calm demeanor. He was about to call the maids to carry Madam to the sofa nearby when Mo Chou handed him the phone in her hands and carried Mo Li herself as if she was a feather stuffed pillow.

Butler Xue ’...when did the young miss get so strong?’

She gently laid Mo Li down on the sofa. Mo Chou was wondering if she should take her to the hospital just in case when Mo Li actually woke up. After fully gaining consciousness, she started panicking again, she held Mo Chou’s hand in a tight grip and anxiously said, "let’s go to the hospital, your dad.. your dad is there".

Mo Chou quickly soothed her and calmed her down, assuring that Liu Qiang was fine. Mo Li calmed down a little but still insisted on going to the hospital to see him. Mo Chou agreed and headed to the hospital after asking the butler for the hospital’s name.

When they arrived there, they saw Liu Dai waiting at the entrance. He had been informed by Butler Xue about their visit. He saw that Mo Li was completely fine and heaved a sigh of relief. After Mo Chou cut the call, he had called the butler to ask about the complete situation and found that Mo Li had fainted but had woken up shortly and was headed to the hospital with Mo Chou.

Liu Dai knew that he could not hide it from Liu Qiang and had told him about Mo Li suddenly fainting. Liu Qiang had panicked and wanted to immediately go home to find her but Liu Dai told him they were already on the way and he would fetch them.

Mo Li saw him and immediately started interrogating him. He just said, "You should just ask dad" and scratched his head awkwardly.

Mo Li didn’t have time to think and made him lead the way to Liu Qiang while Mo Chou followed. Liu Qiang was in a private hospital room, when they entered, they saw that he was fine and looked in good health but his leg was wrapped in bandages.

Mo Li actually started crying and immediately went to his bedside. Liu Qiang saw his wife’s tears and got scared. He wanted to pull her into his arms but since their children were there he held her hand and comforted her.

After consoling her for a while Mo Li finally calmed down and asked, "What happened to your leg? Are you in pain?" Liu Qiang looked embarrassed and said, "I fell and sprained my ankle."

Mo Chou and Mo Li: "..."

Liu Dai felt like laughing looking at their expressions. He explained the full story, It turned out that Liu Qiang wanted to cook dinner for Mo Li, he had declared that he would make the dishes himself and didn’t need anyone’s help. The chef had no choice but to watch as he made a mess in the kitchen and while rushing around Liu Qiang had slipped on some oil that he had spilled on the floor.

Liu Qiang was in pain and thought that his leg was broken and wanted to call their family doctor but the doctor was not picking up his calls, so he had no choice but to call Liu Dai. Liu Dai took him to the hospital and Liu Qiang ordered him to make an excuse so that Mo Li and Mo Chou wouldn’t worry about him as the doctor had said that it was just a sprained ankle.

It turned out to be a bad decision as it had the opposite effect and Mo Li had even fainted. When Mo Li heard that he had injured himself because he wanted to cook for her, she wanted to hit him but couldn’t bear to. She scolded him but her eyes were overflowing with love.

Mo Chou and Liu Dai looked at their parents and couldn’t bear to stay in the room, so they excused themselves. Mo Li told them to return back and rest as she would accompany Liu Qiang. They agreed and headed home together after telling Liu Qiang to take care of himself.

In the car, on the way home Mo Chou was replying to her friend’s text when she heard Liu Dai ask, "Did you enjoy your time at the spa?"

"Yes, it was very relaxing," replied Mo Chou.

"Actually, the company is going to be hosting a ball and I haven’t found a partner yet, I was wondering if you could attend it with me" Liu Dai said with a nervous expression. Mo Chou was surprised as Liu Dai had rejected the villainess every time she asked to go to events with him but this time he was even taking the initiative to ask her.

The villainess had actually not been allowed to attend anything by Liu Dai after she had embarrassed herself once. She had worn a counterfeit dress claiming it to be the real deal.

It was actually Zhou Lili’s ploy as she had gifted her the dress and convinced her to wear it to the event. The villainess had even picked a fight with someone who had told her that the dress was fake by calling them a jealous liar.

Looking at Liu Dai’s slightly nervous expression, Mo Chou agreed on going. Liu Dai gave her a smile and told her to leave the preparation to him. Mo Chou looked at her handsome brother and sighed, ’If he was in the entertainment industry, he would probably make girls go crazy’.

They arrived home and Mo Chou informed Liu Dai that she was heading to bed as she felt a little tired. Liu Dai asked her if she wanted to have dinner in her room but Mo Chou replied that she wasn’t hungry.

Liu Dai was sad that he couldn’t have dinner with her but didn’t reveal it. Mo Chou went to her room and did her nightly routine before lying down on her bed. She had made a habit of replying to the texts she got before bed.

She looked at the chats and saw that she had gotten a new text from Lu Jinhai.

She had changed his name to ’bad guy’ when she was angry with him previously. She felt that she should change it now and thought about what to change it to.

She pondered and changed it to ’sleepy head’ as he was always sleeping in class.

She actually wanted to change it to ’pretty boy’ but stopped herself, she was already having ’perverted’ dreams and felt that it would be inappropriate.

He had asked her if she had dinner.

Mo Chou replied, "I didn’t have dinner tonight, I’m tired today and want to sleep".

She sent the text and immediately got a reply, "then have a good night and dream about me".

Mo Chou immediately started blushing when she read his text remembering her recent dreams. She just sent a sticker of a cat sleeping and turned her phone off.

’Please stop giving me such perverted dreams, oh dream god’ she joined her hands and prayed before going to sleep.

Huo Zhai looked at his boss who was constantly checking his phone. He was reporting to his boss about the training of new recruits. Lu Jinhai seemed distracted and only half listening but still could point out some mistakes in the training.

Suddenly, Lu Jinhai raised his hand to signal him and replied to someone on the phone. Huo Zhai saw that his ruthless boss smiled while texting someone and was stunned.

Huo Zhai had been sent on a mission by Lu Jinhai and did not have any clue of the changes in Lu Jinhai. ’I have to ask Huo Jichen what is going on’ he thought, he of course didn’t dare ask Lu Jinhai directly even though he seemed to be in a good mood. He was Lu Jinhai’s right hand man and also the only person who knew how dangerous and ruthless he was.

Lu Jinhai looked up from his phone and said, "continue to report tomorrow, I don’t want to be late for bed". With that, he got up and went to his bedroom.

’Doesn’t the boss have insomnia?’ Huo Zhai scratched his head.

He sent a text to his brother, "What’s been going on with the boss recently?"

"Give me the new calligraphy or figure it out yourself".

Looking at Huo Jichen’s reply, Huo Zhai was furious. The calligraphy was worth his salary for half a year.

"I’ll figure it out myself, nobody asked for your help" he said and turned off his phone.
