Chapter 30: Annoying people

When they arrived home, the bodyguards went to ’report’ to Liu Dai. Although it was called reporting, it was just the bodyguards describing how Mo Chou’s day had been like. Liu Dai would listen quietly and occasionally ask a question.

Liu Dai’s secretary was also present today because Liu Dai had started to work from home more often nowadays and his secretary had to be there personally for some work related matters.

The secretary looked on as Liu Dai listened to the bodyguards reporting seriously and felt that it was quite strange. Last time Liu Dai had attended the competition personally and now he was even listening to daily reports about Mo Chou.

Liu Dai didn’t care at all about her just a few months back.

While listening to the bodyguards, Liu Dai suddenly spoke up, "What about her friends? Does she have any male friends?"

The bodyguard scratched his head, "She is accompanied by a boy from her classes. I think the young master has met him before, he was the one who took her to the hospital previously."

Liu Dai was quite displeased hearing his words. He hadn’t even had the opportunity to spend much time with his sister but a ’brat’ was already trying to steal her away. "You should help the young miss stay away from him" he said to the bodyguards.

The bodyguards were dumbfounded, how would they do that? They couldn’t even approach miss at university. Still they had no choice but to agree. Liu Dai dismissed them and resumed his work ignoring the speechless secretary.

The next day was a weekend, so Mo Li had decided to spend some quality time together. She had booked appointments for her and Mo Chou at a new spa that had opened recently. It had top notch service and only a few select people could get membership.

Mo Li decided that she would have a relaxing day with Mo Chou and spend some quality time bonding.

Liu Qiang was actually thinking of spending ’family time’ with Mo Li and Mo Chou but gave up on the idea seeing how excited she was.

They all had breakfast together in the morning like the previous time, minus Mo Li’s cooking. After breakfast Liu Dai and Liu Qiang went to their respective study rooms to catch up on some extra work while Mo Li took Mo Chou to her room and showed all the mother and daughter matching clothes that she had bought previously.

Mo Chou looked at the clothes and cringed. Most of them had sparkly glitter and the others were all various shades of pink. She already thought that wearing matching clothes was overkill but in order to please Mo Li she had agreed but she was really unwilling now.

Mo Li had bought an entire closet full of clothes and Mo Chou went through them trying to find something which was easier to the eyes. After looking around, she finally found nice ones.

For Mo Li, she chose a long dress of muted rose color. It looked classy and stylish, and for herself, it was a knee length dress of the same color.

Mo Li obviously praised her choice, she would be happy no matter what she chose as long as she agreed to wear matching clothes. They changed into their clothes and headed out. They took a car to the spa and reached it after twenty minutes.

Liu Qiang was not strict with anything aside from safety, so they had bodyguards following them from a distance. Mo Li had wanted to argue with him regarding the bodyguards but Liu Qiang reminded her how Mo Chou had constantly been in an accident recently, so they both compromised and made the bodyguards protect them from afar.

When they arrived at the spa, a valet opened their door and they stepped out. Although the valet had seen many celebrities and rich socialites, he was still dumbfounded when he saw Mo Li and Mo Chou. They had dressed up and with their innate good looks, they immediately became the centre of focus.

He couldn’t help but stare but quickly snapped back to his senses as he knew that he couldn’t afford to offend anyone here. Mo Li walked to the entrance with confidence and grace.

Even though Mo Li was a candid person, she still had the aura of a sophisticated rich madam when she was not with her family. Mo Chou couldn’t help but admire her posture.

They walked into the spa together and Mo Chou couldn’t help but marvel at the sight. Although it was called a ’spa’, it looked like a palace instead. It was decorated in a vintage European style.

They were greeted by the receptionist who politely asked them for their names. An assistant arrived shortly and started leading them to their lounge. They were just walking when someone called Mo Li.

"Hello madam Pei’’ Mo Li greeted her. Seeing Mo Chou look at Madam Pei curiously, Mo Li introduced her as the wife of one of Liu Qiang’s business partners.

Mo Chou politely greeted her but she didn’t like this madam Pei, although madam Pei was acting friendly and enthusiastic, she could see the hostility in her eyes. Madam Pei looked down on them.

Mo Chou didn’t want to interact with this kind of two faced person but she couldn’t rudely interrupt them either. It was good that Mo Li also seemed to be distant and was just giving Madam Pei curt replies.

Madam Pei kept talking despite Mo Li’s dry replies. She looked at Mo Chou and said "Is your daughter also in university? My daughter actually got an offer to study at the best university in Country A. I always remind her not to work so hard but the child hardly listens."

Madam Pei then went on and on about her ’obedient’ daughter. Mo Chou had had enough, so she acted spoiled and pulled Mo Li’s arm and acted cute saying "Mom, let’s go I want to enjoy the private sauna".

Mo Li immediately bade goodbye to Madam Pei using this opportunity and hurriedly followed the assistant who was waiting for them.

Looking at their backs Madam Pei snorted, "What’s there to be proud about? The daughter is useless just like the mother".

Madam Pei decided to tell everyone in her friend group about how both Mo Chou and Mo Li were snobs.

Mo Li heaved a sigh of relief after putting some distance between them. She looked at Mo Chou and said worriedly, "darling, you shouldn’t keep company with these kinds of people in the future, my ears almost fell off due to her high-pitched voice".

Mo Chou "..."

Finally they arrived at the private lounge. They had booked a special appointment so they had private masseuses and a private sauna too. Mo Chou enjoyed the pampering while chatting with Mo Li. It was really a different experience than when she went to the spa with her friends previously, they were treated like royalty here.

’Money does talk’ thought Mo Chou. They enjoyed all the services from pedicures to massages. Mo Chou exited the spa feeling like a completely new person, she was simply glowing. They had had some snacks in between the pampering but were a little hungry.

Although the spa had a whole buffet, Mo Li didn’t want to eat there in case she met Madam Pei again. Thinking of how her pitiful dad might have felt neglected, Mo Chou suggested just eating at home.

Mo Li obviously agreed since it was Mo Chou who said it.

After reaching home though, both Liu Dai and Liu Qiang seemed to be absent. When they asked the butler, he just said that they had gone to work. Mo Chou looked at Butler Xue’s shifty eyes and felt that something was wrong. Mo Li also noticed it and warned Butler Xue about the consequences of angering her.

Butler Xue wanted to cry, he had been especially instructed by Liu Qiang to make up an excuse about their absence and not let anything slip.

"I really don’t know madam, master went out with the young master about two hours ago and they haven’t returned".

Mo Li believed him but was a little worried. Mo Chou on the other hand could tell that it was not the full truth. She decided to call Liu Qiang but his phone was switched off.

She then tried calling Liu Dai’s phone as they had headed out together. Liu Dai answered the phone on the third ring.

Mo Chou asked him where they were and Liu Dai replied "We are at work. I’ll be home soon, don’t worry".

Mo Chou immediately noticed something wrong and asked "What about dad?"

"He is going to stay at the office tonight for work," replied Liu Dai.

Mo Chou found it strange as it was the weekend and lately Liu Qiang had been quite free. ’How come he has to work overnight all of a sudden?’

She threatened Liu Dai, "tell me the truth or I will go to the office myself".

Seeing that he had no choice, Liu Dai finally said "Dad is at the hospital". Before he could continue, he heard a gasp.

Mo Li who had been listening at the side had fainted.
