Chapter 126: ENCORE
“How mysterious,” Sinead said with interest in her eyes.
“Hmph, she’s just trying to save her Diva title.” Niktots Ucad retorted.
“Well, we’re about to find out as it appears Diva Lorelie is taking the stage,” Sinead said as a figure emerged onto the large stage in the back of the shot to thunderous cheers and applause.
Lorelie smiled brightly and waved at the crowd of tens of thousands as she came out onto the stage wearing a gorgeous silver pleated back crossed strap dress with a slit that showed one of her amazing legs.
As she started to sing, people happily joined in with the songs they knew and cheered after each one until finally the sixth song was about to begin.
Lorelie stood before a microphone stand that had been placed before her and smiled at the crowd before saying, “I promised you all a surprise, and here it is, I dedicate this song to the man who saved my life.”
After she finished speaking, music began to play using instruments the likes of which no one in the known universe had ever heard before, save for those who had watched a certain streamer when he listened to some music.
The crowd, the VIP guests, the imperial family and even those presenters who were covering the concert stayed deadly quiet and listened along to a type of music they had never heard before as Lorelie began to sing.
It was a song she had found when going through all the music that Adam had given her from Earth. It spoke of finding love and wanting to remain by their side forever.
Lorelie was well aware that she had promised not to plagiarise the music from Earth; however, after hearing this song, something within her told her that she had to sing it here tonight and that afterwards she would do anything to earn that man’s forgiveness when she apologised.
She sang to a level she had not managed in a long time. While her other music was enjoyable, the main reason Lorelie was losing popularity was that she was no longer able to give her heart and soul to her music, meaning it failed to resonate with her fans like it once did.
Now, however, with this song, she had not only managed it again and matched how good she was in the prime of her career, she had, in fact, exceeded it.
Throughout the entire song, no one cheered or danced; they all just listened in silence. Even those who watched the concert via broadcast could only sit in silence and enjoy the type of music made with instruments they had never heard before.
As Lorelie finished, there was silence as no one spoke or moved. It took a while for someone to realise that the song had finished before they stood up and applauded.
One after another, Terran and alien alike stood, clapped and cheered until the entire audience in attendance, including the imperial family, stood and applauded Lorelie, granting her a standing ovation.
“I have never heard anything like that before.” Andrew Spencer said in shock as he, Sinead and Niktos also stood and applauded.
“It certainly was extraordinary. How can anyone claim she will soon lose her title of Diva?” Sinead commented.
“It’s far more important and impactful than that,” Niktos said, causing the other two to look at him and Sinead to ask.
“What do you mean?”
“What we just heard is music that has never been heard before. Diva Lorelie just invented an entirely new branch of music that may very well revolutionise the industry. This won’t only stop her from losing her Diva title, but it will firmly place her as the top diva in the music category for years to come.
“Drotas Entertainment will be kicking themselves after they realise this, if the company survives, of course.” Andrew Spencer said with a smirk.
As Sinead was about to reply, they heard a chant from the audience that made them all look over.
“ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE.”
The entire audience was chanting for Lorelie to do an encore and sing another song like they had just heard.
Lorelie smiled and held up her hands for silence before saying, “I’m afraid I’m only slated for six songs.”
“BOOOOOO.” The audience reacted before once again chanting, “ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE.”
Eventually, Emperor Daniel Terran stood up and motioned for silence before saying, “While it is true that you are only slated for six songs.”
He began before, “BOOOOOO” came from the crowd, causing him to smile as he once again motioned for silence before continuing.
“I believe everyone here, including myself, would be delighted to hear more Diva Lorelie.”
This time, the audience cheered loudly until Lorelie smiled and raised her hand before saying, “If you so wish, then I will be happy to oblige; however, I have only one more song that is finished.”
The crowd erupted into cheers for a few moments before they quietened down, and Lorelie began another new song.
💫💫💫
Adam had remained seated in front of the Skull Rose gang leader for the past ten minutes while he waited for the effects of Party Time to wear off.
While he was waiting and nothing interesting was happening in the stream, some of the chatters focused their attention on the Terran celebration that was being broadcast. Once Lorelie had finished her second song and left the stage to yet another standing ovation, those in the chat who had watched it couldn't help but discuss it.
[Superior4horns (Vinox 3): OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG. That was EPIC! 🤩]
[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Nothing happened?]
[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): She’s not talking about the streamer, she’s talking about Diva Lorelie’s performance.]
[Celebrityhunter69 (Earth): Wait, that was tonight? She did mention something about it in chat before.]
[Superior4horns (Vinox 3): THIS IS HUGE.]
[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): Seems it went well.]
[Superior4horns (Vinox 3): It went better than well, it was amazing. She just revolutionised the music industry.]
[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): What?]
[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Allow someone more composed to explain. Diva Lorelie just performed at the Terran celebration concert, and her last two songs were like nothing we have ever heard before …. Well, there was that time during the streamers stream when he listened to music, now that I think about it.]
[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): Wait, do you think that's where she got the music concept from? Did the streamer help her invent a new kind of music that actually originates from Earth?]
[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): That’s plausible.]
[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Hey, streamer, spill the beans, did you help Diva Lorelie invent an entirely new branch of music?]
“What?” Adam asked in confusion.
[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Let me explain.]
Adam and the chat read as Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage went over what just happened with Lorelie at the concert and how she sang two songs using instruments and music that were before now unknown to the known universe.
“Hmm, is that so?” Adam mussed with a thoughtful expression before saying, “I did give her a gift before she left my ship.”
[Celebrityhunter69 (Earth): She mentioned that in the past, did you give her a copy of Earth’s music?]
Adam didn’t reply and just smirked.
[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): I think that smirks a yes.]
[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): OMG, this is amazing, the streamer just plagiarised Earth’s entire music industry. The whole industry is going to go nuts when they hear about it. Kekeke.]
[HackerSu (Trillion): This is going to revolutionise the music industry in the known universe. She received two standing ovations with the audience demanding encores.]
[OrangeeyedStace (Trillion): Not only that, but with this, she has firmly placed herself as the top Diva in the music industry.]
[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): As long as the streamer does not give out Earth’s music to anyone else, she will have the monopoly on it for many years. Only she has access to how Earth’s instruments sound, and it will take a long time for people to be able to reproduce them.]
[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): Can’t someone just break down the music using a program or something?]
[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Not possible. To prevent illegal copies of music being sold, all music played is encoded so that it's impossible to copy or break down. If they try, all they will get is white noise.]
[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): But Earth music doesn't have that encoding.]
[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): It does when it's played in the known universe. Take the concert, for example, that was streamed over the universal subspace network. As soon as it hit the subspace network, the encoding was placed upon it while it was in transit to its destinations, where it was heard.]
[Whostolemyduck (Earth): So how would another artist or entertainment company get a hold of Earth’s music?]
[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): They would have to make a request from Diva Lorelie for a copy; however, since she is no doubt going to be recognised as the inventor of this new branch of music, by universal law, she has the right to refuse for the next 50 years.]
[Justiceistruth: (Earth): 50 years? 😱]
[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): Yup she will hold the patent for Earth’s music for that long, unless she decides to release it before then. Only after the 50 years is up will the patient become public knowledge.]
