Space Odyssey: Spectre -
Chapter 190 190: Tearing Through the Enemy
Nila ducked behind cover as another set of plasma bolts hit the wall she was hiding behind. The rest of her people were in similar precarious situations. One of the members of her new squad was dead, he had been blown up by a bomb on the seventh floor. Another was injured, he had his leg melted by a plasma grenade, he was unconscious now.
The only fortunate thing was that all of the council members and war council members were still safe, a few were injured. Granted they would not be able to stay that way for long if they stayed on this floor. She looked back down the hall where the injured were staying. She could also see the Accer Imperial Guards as well. Their invisibility was off for the moment. While on her side where the windows were located was herself. Three other members of her new squad as well as the High Priestess. All of which were trying to break through the enemies fortification they had made here.
"Nila, are you sure you can not sneak past them. The soldiers on the roof can only hold out for so long." The High Priestess pointed out as she peaked out from behind cover and fired a few shots with her laser pistol before moving back to cover.
"They have the entire doorway covered." Nila pointed out as she sighed. She pulled out the human revolver. She only had six shots left, but she would have to make them count. "I will try to make an open-"
She stopped mid sentence as the entire room went dark like they were covered in a shadow. She looked toward the windows just in time to see four figures come through the windows. But what attracted her gaze even more was the emblem she had gotten familiar with that was on their shoulders.

CRASH!
Jace crashed through the window. As he did he noticed his HUD lit up as several friendly symbols listed as members of the Cerberus Squad were displayed. He glanced at the other side where it looked like a bunch of people had set up a choke point.
The moment his feet touched the ground he charged straight toward the choke point. Several of the plasma bolts bouncing off the yellow hexagonal shield that appeared. "Secure the VIPs onto the transport." Jace ordered as he arrived in front of the Mar'talic that was covering the door.
Jace grabbed the Mar'talic's gun and then kicked the lizard creature and he could hear a crunch as the Mar'talics bones broke. Then he went flying through the air leaving his plasma bolt gun in Jace's hand.
Jace moved into the room. Grabbing an Ola by the face as he placed the plasma bolt gun on his back. He threw the Ola at a Tacole who had stood up in the corner of the room. Jace pulled his knife and darted toward an Accer who was raising his own weapon.
Jace's knife flashed with movement and blood covered the wall. He then spun the knife in his room and threw it at the forehead of the Tacole who was recovering from have an Ola thrown at him. The Tacole collapsed onto the broken corpse of the Ola. But before Jace could continue his assault he felt hands grab his shoulders.
At the same time he heard an unfamiliar voice speak over their Squad Channel. "Permission to move the injured aboard the transport."
"Negative. Prioritize the VIPs, then the Injured, then Cerberus Squad." Jace answered as he flipped forward. Pulling the shoulder grabber with him and sending the Hydragentia through a window with a scream.
Now next to the Tacole he spun around and looked down the hall where an array of different species were looking at him in surprise. He pulled his knife from the Tacole's head. Under his helmet, unseen by others he was grinning madly.
"Understood." The voice answered but sounded confused.
Jace dashed forward. Pulling his Pyre as he moved into the hallway. The first was a Mar'talic who raised his gun but had a bullet go through his head before he could pull the trigger. Then Jace jammed the knife into the head of a blue skinned creature that had four arms.
He slid across the ground ducking down under a sword that was attacked toward him. He fired twice. One bullet went through an Ola turning the feathered version's head into mist before it hit a Mar'talic in the arm. The other bullet went through the core of a blob-like creature. It collapsed into a puddle of goo.
Five enemies left in the hall. Jace jumped using a single leg, spinning his body in the air so when he reached the roof he was standing on it. In the place he was crouched at a moment before a spear had stabbed into the ground. A Mar'talic had stabbed at him with a spear but had missed because of his movement.
Jace fired at the Mar'talic with the spear just as gravity seemed to realize he existed. But the Mar'talic moved his head just in time so the bullet just ricocheted off the side of the helmet. Jace clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"Did the boss just click his tongue?" Charlie asked with a tone of surprise.
As Jace's body started to come off the roof he kicked off the roof going straight toward a Tacole. The Tacole barely had a chance to react before his knife sunk into the Tacole's skull. As the Tacole collapsed onto the ground he managed to fire off another shot. This time the bullet hit its target as the Hydragetia made of vines collapsed as its core was destroyed.
Three were left, including the Mar'talic with the spear. But all three of these enemies were armored. One was the Mar'talic with the spear. The other was an Accer with a sword who swung at him earlier. The last was the four armed blue skinned creature. But he was just using his fist, although they each had an armored glove covering them.
All three of them were using weapons that were not ranged. He grinned for a moment before he raised his Pyre and then slowly put it in his holster. While he spun his knife in his hand.
They seemed to understand as they waited for him to put away his gun. Then the Accer leaped forward swinging her sword down at him. He leaned back, dodging the vertical strike. Then he turned his body and raised his leg and then slammed his foot down. Embedding the head of the spear into the ground as it tried to stab him in the leg.
He was then jostled forward as the four armed creature punched him in the back. It sent him forward toward the Accer. The spearman was able to pull his spear out of the ground. The Accer quickly backed up repositioning.
Instead of fighting the movement, Jace leaned forward and turned his uneven position into an attack. He stabbed forward, his knife cut a gash through the Accer's armor. But he had to twist his body to the side as he dodged the flurry of blows coming from the four armed blue skinned alien.
He twisted around the alien's body maneuvering behind it. He then grabbed its head with his empty hand and forced it to the side so a chink in its armor that he spotted earlier was exposed. Then he stabbed into the chink with his knife. It sank into the flesh of the creature easily.
Then his hip was forced to the side as something pushed him. Jace looked over to see a yellow hexagonal shield pattern covering his hip area that was being triggered by the spear from the Mar'talic.
Jace slipped backwards, kicking the four armed alien forward with his foot. Pulling out his knife, cutting through more of the alien's throat. The spear slid off his forward, sending the Mar'talic stumbling forward.
He used his knee to kick up the spear by the middle. He then slammed his elbow down on top of it in an attempt to break the spear in half.
DING!
Instead he felt his teeth chatter as metal hit metal. The plates of his armor shaking and resonating with the metal spear. Anything less than his armor should have broken and snapped in half.
He stepped back feeling his armor still shaking so he adjusted himself as he took a closer look at those weapons of theirs. He already knew the armor was not the same. But the spear, sword, and gauntlets were all made of the same material that his Spectre Armor and his sword were made of.
Jace watched the four armed alien try to staunch the bleeding from its neck, stumbling forward before it collapsed. Jace turned his attention to the other two. He deflected the blade from the Accer and then had to step back as the Mar'talic tried to jab him with his spear.
He flipped his knife in his hand. One down, two more to go.
