Chapter 1082: Chapter 145 : Complete
*Sasha*
Lena handed me a fresh bouquet of blue and white flowers with greenery and sparkling gold accents.
“Sasha, you look like the perfect bride. I wish you’d given me more time to throw together a proper wedding.”
I shook my head. “Even if you had three years to plan, I doubt Lucas and I would have settled for anything different.”
Lena rolled her eyes. “Fair enough. Still, you look stunning.” She nodded to a mirror behind me.
I turned around and got a full view of myself for the first time.
Lucas and I wanted to get married quickly, before I was showing my pregnancy. We also wanted to have a wedding that was completely opposite from what the other Sasha had been planning for her and Donovan.
That was why we went with the minimalist way.
I looked at myself in the mirror. Even though we didn’t want something big, I still found a dress I thought was perfect.
It had a satin, sleeveless bodice with a short-sleeved lace overtop. The sleeves hung off my shoulders slightly and it had a low-cut V in the front. The skirt was satin underneath with a longer lace covering and a moderate train off the back. There were little satin-covered buttons down the front of the lace, all the way to the floor.
Even though it was short notice, Lena had someone come do my hair and makeup. My hair was loose with a few small braids woven in. I had a headpiece with the same colors as my bouquet, only they were gemstones in a golden frame, and my braids were woven through the headpiece.
“Ready to get married?” Lena held a hand out to me.
I sighed and nodded. We walked to the palace gardens where the ceremony was taking place. The guest list was small–Lucas’s mother and family, my mother, Amanda, Brady and Phoebe, and of course Xander and Lena and their children.
Amanda was my maid of honor. She met me at the end of the aisle where my mother also waited.
“I’ll see you out there,” Lena said. She kissed my cheek quickly and rushed off.
Amanda was dressed in a dark blue dress, matching the flowers in my bouquet. She looked absolutely stunning with the long leg slit up the side of her dress and her hair in a partial updo that had tendrils that hung down and framed her face.
“Sasha, you look amazing!” she hugged me when she saw me.
“Thank you for being here.”
She rolled her eyes. “Of course, I’m here. This is a big day. I wouldn’t miss it, especially because I plan to be your next baby’s godmother, too. Being your maid of honor is a precursor for that.” She patted my stomach.
“Right....”
“Honey, the music started. We need to get going.” My mother came over and looped her arm through mine. I didn’t have a father to give me away, but my mom was there for me.
Amanda walked down the aisle first. We had such a small crowd and it was going to be a short ceremony, so the other guests stood on either side of the aisle.
Brady and Lucas stood at the end of the aisle under a little gazebo. It was decorated with white flowers and a fountain was in the center trickling water down.
The aisle was made of white and red rose petals–simple but also elegant.
Arm in arm, my mom and I walked down the aisle, trailing after Amanda. When we got to the gazebo, my mom went to stand with everyone else and Amanda took my bouquet.
Lucas took my hands and we stood across from each other. He looked so handsome in his nice suit with his hair slicked back and the little blue flower pinned to his chest.
The officiant, who was in the gazebo, stepped forward and cleared his throat.
“We are gathered here today to join Lucas Black and Sasha Wentley in holy matrimony.”
I looked deeply into Lucas’s eyes and my stomach exploded in butterflies. I was so happy he finally listened to my concerns and made the decision to do the right thing for us and for his family. I squeezed his hands gently and he squeezed mine back.
We exchanged vows and Lucas and I each gave each other a wedding band. Tears wet my cheeks as we kissed for the first time as husband and wife. Never in my life had I been happier or felt closer to my mate.
We had a quick reception, just long enough for a few people to make toasts and wish us well. But Lucas and I didn’t want to have a big party. He wanted to get on the road for the honeymoon. As much as I pried, Lucas had refused to tell me where we were going or what we were doing. He did say that Hunter was coming with us, which I appreciated.
After the small reception, I said goodbye to Amanda and my mother.
Hunter napped in the car while Lucas and I drove down back country roads. I was tired and closed my eyes. By the time I woke up, it was dark. The car windows were down and I heard the soft crash of ocean waves.
My energy returned, I got out of the car and got Hunter from the back seat. I rushed out to the beach and right to the water’s edge.
“Look, Hunter, it’s the ocean,” I gushed.
Lucas and I’d had a lot of romantic getaways at the ocean. I should have expected him to set something like this up.
Lucas came up behind me and put his hand on the small of my back. “Come see where we are staying.”
He guided me along the beach to a private cottage. It was round and on stilts, jutting out over the ocean. There was a wooden deck that waves lapped against and I imagined that at high tide, the water would just come over the edge of the deck.
I could sit on the deck in a lounge chair and have waves bubble up around my feet and ankles.
We walked right from the sand onto the front porch and into the little two-room cottage. There was an open living room and kitchen with double doors right out to the deck. I had a feeling I’d get a beautiful view when the sun came up over the water.
There was one bedroom, and Lucas already had a crib set up there for Hunter. I fed him and put him down for bed.
Lucas and I went onto the deck and he pulled up lounge chairs. We sat next to each other, the water splashing over our feet. Lucas held his hand out to me and he squeezed my fingers.
“This is gorgeous.”
“Oh, this is just the beginning. We get the entire beach to ourselves. This is the only cottage here.”
I smiled widely. “This is perfect.”
Lucas and I spent three weeks there with Hunter. We spent days on the beach with a blanket, snacks and toys. He flourished, smiling and growing a little each day. I couldn’t believe how much he was growing.
At nights, Lucas and I stayed up late and put our feet in the water. We danced in the living room and just laid in each other’s arms. It was perfect.
When our time was up, I almost didn’t want to leave. The entire world was waiting for us, but I didn’t want to go back.
On the drive home, I rested my hand on my stomach.
“I guess we need to get back and get ready for the newest addition for our family,” I said.
Lucas smirked and nodded.

*Nine Months Later*
Panting and exhausted, my hair stuck to my sweaty skin. Lucas still gripped my hand. My chest rose and fell as I listened for the sound of crying.
Eighteen hours of labor, and my daughter finally made it into the world.
As soon as I heard her cries fill the room, I relaxed on the bed and let out a long, deep breath.
“She’s a perfectly healthy, beautiful baby girl,” the healer told me. He placed her in my arms.
I looked at her sweet little face. Now that she was washed and swaddled, she wasn’t crying anymore.
She slept soundly.
“Oh my gosh, she’s so perfect... she’s so....” Tears sprang to my eyes, and I sniffled.
“Yeah, I know,” Lucas agreed.
He kissed the side of my head.
After the baby and I had rested, my mom came by with Hunter. I got to hold both my children for the first time.
Lucas never left my side either, and I was so grateful to have my whole family with me.
“We’re a real family now, aren’t we?” I gasped, looking at Lucas.
“Yes, and this is just the beginning. I promised we’d have a big family.” He smirked at me.
I rolled my eyes and groaned. “At least, give me a couple of years before we have another. I have a feeling these two are going to be a handful.”
I ruffled Hunter’s hair. He giggled and snuggled closer to me.
“No promises.” Lucas winked at me.
“Okay, I want to get a family photo of all of you,” my mom said. “Squeeze in, everyone.”
Lucas sat on the side of the bed and put his arm around my shoulders. I leaned against him and angled our baby girl so my mother could get her in the picture. Lucas pulled Hunter close to help keep him still.
“Perfect. I’ll get this printed and framed as soon as possible. By the way, what is my new granddaughter’s name?” My mom was already at the door.
Lucas and I looked at each other. This time, we were prepared and had a name picked out already.
“Her name is Willow,” I said.
“Willow, I love that name. It fits perfectly.”
I looked down at my daughter and bounced her slightly. She had Lucas’s curly brown hair and a slightly mushy face, like most babies.
She started to fuss, and Lucas took Hunter to get food in the cafeteria. I nursed Willow and ran my hand over her soft, fuzzy head. I couldn’t wait to see her grow up–how beautiful she’d be. She was the gem of my life.
Adjusting to two children was a lot easier than I thought. By the time I got back to the palace with Willow and Hunter, I already had a routine down. Hunter was still young and didn’t always know why he didn’t get to be the baby anymore, but he adjusted quickly.
As much as Lucas and I talked about having a big family, I was perfectly content with my daughter and son.
Somehow, we felt complete this way.
