Sleeping With The CEO
Chapter 52: Let’s Go

Chapter 52: Let’s Go

Emily paced outside the bathroom door, trying to get herself together. But with each step, one phrase kept going around and around in her head.

She was so fired...she was so fired...she was so fired... She stopped pacing and went over to the bed. Picking up the covers, Emily started making the bed as a way to keep her hands busy, her mind still running a mile a minute.

When Derek’s voice had broken her from her tunnel vision focus. She had turned around fully expecting to find him, dressed and ready to go. Then when it had dawned on her that not only was he not ready to go, he was exactly where she had left him. The bed not done, his clothes not picked out, Emily had lost it.

She had gone into what her mother called her drill sergeant mode.

She had ordered her boss around. The poor man, obviously still sleepy, going along with it, obeying her commands on autopilot. Had he been more awake, Emily was sure that he would have put up more of a fight, trying to show that no one ordered Derek Haven around. Derek Haven did what Derek Haven wanted, whenever he wanted to.

But sleep apparently made him more likely to follow commands and he had gone into the bathroom without complaint. Finishing off the bed, Emily once again found herself with nothing to keep her occupied. So she began walking around in the room again. And now as Emily paced outside the door, she made a decision that would likely add to her list of transgressions that morning.

"Derek!" She called, hoping that he could hear her over the noise of the shower. But there was no reply, and she took that to mean that he could not hear her.

"This is only a minor invasion if privacy. It is just a minor one. Nothing big, nothing major. It is not like you are copying his bank details or anything," She reassured herself as she went to open his bags.

From time to time, there was a coffee spill, or a food stain that occurred during important meetings, and during such times Derek would look to her and she would run to the nearest laundromat and get the problem solved before returning his clothes to him.

This was similar, she told herself as she picked out his suit despite not having his permission. As soon as they landed he would be headed to a meeting, she had to make sure he looked as well put together as always.

Luckily the material that his clothes were made of was crease proof, so she at least had one less thing to worry about. Job done, Emily put the pinstripe suit on the bed, his baby blue formal shirt on the other, his black tie on the other, right next to his socks.

No doubt, he would take the tie off as soon as they were in the air. But he would at least be wearing the full attire for a brief period of time.

That done, Emily finally stepped outside of the room, for the first time since they had arrived the night before.

In the light of day, the place did not look half as scary as it had at night. But it was still awful though, there were signs of water leakage, the stains on the hallway ceiling huge and impossible to miss. There were cracks on the walls and she could also see dents on some of the doors. But the spooky feeling was not nearly as bad as it had been when they had come in.

Once again she began pacing. Her strides longer since the hallway had more room. But she was not just pacing anymore, she was working too. Phone out, Emily’s first call was to the airport.

"Hello, this is Emily Molson. I booked a flight, two tickets, for twelve today. I am calling to make sure that it has not been cancelled,"

"No, ma’am, your flight has not been cancelled, the technical issues that we were having have all been fixed. You can fly out today," The voice on the other end of the line was different, it was definitely not the worker that they had gotten the night before.

"Thank you, for your assistance," Emily told the woman, and then she disconnected the call.

Having reached the end of the hallway, she turned sharply and began walking back in the direction that she had come in. This time when she tapped at her phone screen, she was calling the driver.

"You are still on your way, right?" The one good thing she had done was to make sure that the driver knew to come pick them up in the morning.

"Yes, ma’am, I should be there in just under two minutes," Two minutes...good, that was good.

"Excellent, once you get us and we set off, can you make sure to take the shortest possible route to the airport. We are on a bit of a time crunch," She told him, the cause of the time crunch being that there was no way Derek would be done in two minutes. Maybe he would finish in five at the most.

The conversation done, Emily went back to the room and knocked on the door.

"Derek?" She called, and this time there was a reply.

"I am almost done, just getting dressed now," He told her, and Emily felt a bit of her tension ease. If he was dressed, then he was miles ahead of where she had thought he would be. They could definitely still make it.

A minute later, Derek, looking as sharp as a blade opened the door. The man took pride in his appearance and it showed. Emily might not be able to touch, but she could look and appreciate. Her eyes travelled down his body, and went back up, where she found him looking at her. It seemed that while she had been checking him out, he had been admiring her as well, his eyes going over her form fitting formal blouse and skirt.

Caught staring, they both blushed, and looked away. In an effort to hide her embarrassment she looked down at her phone and let out a curse, they were almost out of time.

"You bring the bags downstairs, and I will go sort out everything at the reception desk," She told him, and the two of them were in motion once again.
