Sleeping With The CEO
Chapter 188: The Cuddler

Chapter 188: The Cuddler

Emily had often heard countless stories of people describing the best weekends of their lives. And what all of those stories often had in common was that the people talked about wild, and outlandish things that they did.

Things that did not fit with their usual character at all. Things that could ruin their reputation should they ever be broadcast for the rest of the world to know about. Those were the things that people referred to, when they said that they had the best weekend ever.

But Emily, in her current state, begged to differ. She was having the best weekend ever, and it did not include a single scandalous thing. In fact, all that it included was one thing, and one thing only... SLEEP!

How did people survive nightly exposure to such a potent drug, and still be able to function during the day? That to Emily deserved to be up there as one of the unsolved mysteries of the world.

ILn the last few days Emily had been having sleep, and not just the stolen things that she managed to sneak away in between her nightmares. But real sleep, the kind that knocked her out till morning. And when she finally did come awake. It was to the feeling of her entire body just singing with how restful it was.

How did people develop an immunity to that? If somebody could answer that for her. Emily would find a way to give them a million in cash. Because if they could find a reason for that, then they were true genius. Because Emily herself could no think of a single solution to that.

There was just no way.

How could people ever get used to the feeling of sleep, to the point of taking it for granted? She had no idea, and she never wanted to find out if she was being honest. Because Emily was currently having the laziest weekend of her life and she was loving it.

It was amazing. It was almost as though she and Derek had been cursed to never leave the bed.

When they had gotten up in the morning, it had been to relieve themselves, brush their teeth, and then go downstairs to have some breakfast. After that breakfast, when Derek had led her upstairs, it had been all that Emily could do to keep from pulling her hand out of his.

Then running up the stairs in front of him so that she could throw herself at the bed first. But she had managed to keep that impulse under control and they had both made it to the bedroom at a leisurely pace. And once they had gotten there, they had returned to the covers and sleep had been waiting for them once more.

Four hours later, they had woken up and had themselves a late lunch. Emily had no idea exactly what it was that she had eaten. To be fair, neither had Derek. All that he had answered with when she had asked was,

"The chef did it. When I am in the city, I have a personal chef, who makes my meals for me in advance. And then all that I have to do is heat them up on days when I’m feeling like having something fresh. Then I have them prepare something and deliver it a few minutes before I am to arrive home. Or I just throw something together myself. It just depends on the night,"

He had then gone on to mention that the chef normally made pretty tasty meals, but when it came to naming, they often came up with complicated things that Derek had no hope whatsoever of remembering. So he just made a point of eating everything and then just going about his day. So rather than think too deeply on the name.

Emily had allowed herself to just enjoy what was put in front of her. And then once lunch was done, the two of them had been back at it again, headed upstairs.

Once again the bed had welcomed them like an old friend, and when Emily had gone to what was now her side.

The expensive sheets and the memory foam had made it seem as though she had never left. And it would have been great enough to have just the comfort of the bed with her. But as Saturday had progressed and the two of them had kept going in and out of sleep.

All signs of the invisible barrier, that they had put up where they went to sleep far apart from each other had vanished. When they woke up close together, they did not freak out. At some point they had even stopped pretending, just cuddling before they fell asleep. And so, after their lunch, when they had gone back to bed, Emily had not even tried to pretend.

To struggle or be shocked, when Derek had reached over and pulled her into his arms. It had felt nice, so unbelievably nice to be encased in all of that muscle, protected. Her body just soaking up all of the heat that Derek’s body was giving off like it was nothing.

The CEO of Haven Group likes to cuddle, she’d thought. And then her inner voice had admonished her. You like being cuddled too, so stop acting all high and mighty. The voice was telling the truth. Emily did like being cuddled. She liked it a lot.

In fact, she liked it so much that the moment that Derek had pulled her into his arms, she had almost passed out right there. But she had been able to hold off sleep for a little while, her fuzzy brain coming up with a few things to say. "This is nice," She’d said.

"Sleep is nice," She had mumbled half drunk and loving it. Derek for his part had merely hummed, and when she had looked up, she had found his eyes half closed. Clearly it was not only her who was feeling the allure of sleep. Giving up on all conversation, Emily had borrowed closer to Derek’s chest and had allowed herself to go boneless, relaxing fully. She had not even lasted a full minute before sleep claimed her again. And by that time Derek had also crossed over into the land of dreams.
