Sleeping With The CEO -
Chapter 133: Don’t Come Back
Chapter 133: Don’t Come Back
The whole thing with Derek had affected Emily more than she had initially thought. When she had first come home, she had been able to get the fact that she was angry but what she had not anticipated was how long that anger would last. As it turned out, the anger was the long lasting type.
Every single time she thought that it was handled. The anger seemed to find something else to reignite it and then she was off again. Feeling like a volcano ready to explode at any moment.
After spending a few minutes shadow boxing, she had collapsed onto the couch, thinking that her anger was now under control. But then she had thought back to Derek and the self-assured way in which he had asked her to sleep with him, and her rage had come back full force. She had ended up on the carpet, her legs up as she kicked the air. Trying to get the rage out of her.
It had worked for a little while, but then the next thing she knew, she had been in the bathroom and she had thought of how angry he had made her. Of how shocked he had looked when she had slapped him, like he was surprised that she had reacted in that manner when insulted. She had nearly punched the mirror, settling instead for standing with her forehead against it, her fists balled. Her entire body shaking as she tried to get herself under control.
And that was pretty much how her day went. Her anger ebbing and flowing, popping up when she least expected it. And it came everywhere no matter where she was, or what she was doing.
At the stove cracking eggs. The next thing she knew, she had egg yolk all over her because she had crushed the egg shell with her fist instead of breaking it into the pan.
In the bathroom brushing her teeth, then having to bend over and wipe the paste off the floor because she had squeezed the tube too hard.
In the living room watching TV, and having to force herself to put the remote down as it groaned, her grip applying too much pressure on the device.
Even things as simple as eating ice cream had turned into a way for her to vent. The poor snack repeatedly stabbed with a spoon as Emily tried to work out her rage.
Even in her sleep she was not spared from her anger. She had ended up having a nightmare where she was drowning. Which was bad enough. But at the same time that she had been drowning, she had been in a slapping fight with an ocean full of Derek Havens and she had to slap each and every single one of them, in order to have a chance of making it out alive. She had woken up from that nightmare not with a silent scream. But with a very loud growl. Her hands up, ready for a fight.
It was not a fun day at all.
And to make matters worse, by the time Emily got ready to go back to work, she still had no idea what it was that had possessed Derek to proposition her in such a way. To belittle her so completely after years of them knowing each other.
And now there she was, getting ready to go back to the diner, the very diner where Derek was most likely to show up. Getting ready, Emily tried to take all of her anger, put it into a jar and shove it deep in her mind, some place where she could not reach. Some place where even if it tried to come up to the surface, it would not be able to come up and make her angry all over again.
She had gotten away with slapping Derek. Angry as she was, Emily was able to acknowledge that fact.
If she saw him again and decided to just start kicking and punching, she was certain that not only would she be fired, she would also be headed to the police station. And it would not be a voluntary visit where she could just walk right out at the end of it. It would be very awkward to have the officers whom she served every evening being the ones to arrest her. She did not want to go through that. Especially for the likes of Derek Haven who thought that they could just sleep with somebody.
Feeling as calm as she was likely to get, Emily made her way out of the apartment. Luckily for her, her mmo was not in yet. If she came home to find Emily still in a foul mood after that encounter, she would definitely know that it was not just some random customer that had made her mad. Women got hit on all the time, and they received some pretty absurd and perverted requests.
It was just part of being a woman in the world. But if she was still bothered, which she still was, then it would be a clear sign that whoever it was that had upset her, was somebody that she either knew or who was important to her. And since Emily did not want to admit that she might have cared for Derek in more than just the professional sense, she tried her best to make sure that her rage was handled.
Now she just had to hope that they did not see each other that day.
Emily spent her trip to work doing breathing exercises and thinking of nothing but calming thoughts. By the time she made it through the diner doors, there was none of her rage to be seen. In fact, if somebody were to hear that Emily, had been violent with her customer during her previous shift. No one would believe it. That was how zen she was and she intended to keep that good mood, that calm mood for as long as possible. Provided Derek even stayed away, Emily was certain that she could do it.
And if he knew what was good for him, then he would not set foot in the diner again
