Sleeping With My Step Daddy -
Chapter 66: "He’s Mine Mr Takeshi"
Chapter 66: "He’s Mine Mr Takeshi"
After the meeting ended, the business partners left the room, smiling and shaking hands. They were clearly impressed by Sebastian Vaughn—his charisma, his presence, his undeniable influence.
But Takeshi remained seated, jaw clenched, his eyes never leaving Bast as the others slowly cleared out.
He wanted to kill him.
But he didn’t move.
Takeshi’s number one rule in business echoed in his mind: "Business partners are like family. No blood in the boardroom."
The room was now silent, only the two men remained—Takeshi and Bast, seated across from one another like enemies at a poker table.
Takeshi (coldly):
"Sebastian Vaughn. I’ll give you a chance. Sell me all the shares... and I’ll let you live."
Bast gave a slow, amused smile.
Bast:
"Mr. Takeshi, do you really think I’m afraid of you? "I didn’t come to play games. Give me Kai."
Takeshi’s face twisted with fury.
Takeshi (growling):
"Kai is my son! Who the hell are you to take him back from me?"
Bast leaned forward, eyes dark but calm.
Bast:
"I’m his everything. And he’s mine, Mr. Takeshi."
Takeshi let out a bitter laugh, his lips curling into a dangerous smile.
Takeshi:
"You think I’ll just hand my son over to you? Sebastian Vaughn... I’ll kill you."
Bast leaned back in his chair, completely unshaken by the threat. The air between them was heavy—dense with years of history, pain, and pride.
Bast (calmly):
"I know he’s your son. But if that’s true, then tell me—why didn’t your son know about you before? Why did you kidnap him instead of meeting him like a father? I know you threatened him... and forced him to stay with you."
Takeshi scoffed and waved a hand.
Takeshi:
"That’s the past. I don’t care. He’s with me now. And that’s enough."
Bast’s tone hardened, but his voice remained composed.
Bast:
"Mr. Takeshi, you’re his real father. I won’t deny that. But I’m his stepdad. And Jennifer... she gave Kai to me. You want to know her last words?"
Takeshi’s eyes narrowed. Bast didn’t wait.
Bast (softly):
"She said, ’Don’t give my son back to his dad. Bast, promise me you won’t take him to Japan.’"
He leaned in slightly, his smile now tinged with sadness and quiet rage.
Bast:
"Takeshi Haruto... if you were truly a good father, then why did your wife give her son to me?"
That line hit hard.
Takeshi’s face darkened. His fists clenched. The fury boiled in silence.
Bast stood up calmly, adjusting his coat. His voice was low, but sharp as steel.
Bast:
"Mr. Takeshi, Kai may be your son... but I raised him. I was there for him. I protected him. And because of that, I have every right as his stepdad. Jennifer gave me that right. You can’t just take him back."
He turned toward the door, his back straight, steps firm.
Bast (without looking back):
"If you won’t give him back... then I’ll burn your empire down. Everything you built for years—gone in one second."
With that, Bast walked out. Calm. Controlled. Deadly.
Takeshi remained alone in the room.
The silence swallowed him whole.
His mind spun with questions... and with the echo of one bitter truth:
"If you were a good father... then why did your wife give your son to me?"
Takeshi sat alone in the meeting room, his heart heavy from the words he just heard. He murmured softly to himself,
"Why, Jennifer? Why did you do this to me? Why did you give our son to an outsider? Jen... why... why..."
He took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm inside him.
Later, at the mansion, Takeshi sat quietly in his room. A soft knock came at the door, and Kai stepped inside.
Takeshi looked up and said, "Ohh, son."
Kai asked gently, "Dad, are you okay?"
Takeshi nodded, "I’m okay. Come here."
Kai walked over and sat beside him.
"How was your day?" Takeshi asked.
"Good," Kai replied. "After university, I’ll go to the office."
Takeshi sighed, "My son, don’t carry too much burden on your shoulders. If you don’t want to go, just don’t. I’ll handle everything."
Kai shook his head, smiling, "It’s okay, Dad. I want to go to the office. What about your day?"
"Just the usual," Takeshi replied quietly.
Kai studied his father’s face and asked, "Dad, why do you look sad?"
Takeshi forced a smile, "No, son, I’m not."
Kai looked into his father’s eyes, "Dad, you are. I can tell by your eyes."
Takeshi smiled warmly, "My little son, you’re so smart."
Kai hesitated, "What’s making you sad?"
Takeshi looked down, then asked quietly, "Kai... am I a bad dad?"
Kai’s eyes widened in shock. "Why, Dad? Why are you asking that all of a sudden?"
"Just... answer me."
Kai’s voice softened, "Of course not. You’re the best dad ever."
Takeshi’s gaze grew heavy, "Then why did your mom take you away from me?"
Kai looked down, unsure how to answer. After a pause, he said, "Dad... Mom had her reasons. Bast said when he met Mom, she was in trouble. He helped her and took me to America. When I was a kid, I lived with Granny, but now I know she wasn’t really my granny. I don’t know why Mom lied to me about her."
Takeshi gently patted Kai’s head. "You don’t need to think about the past anymore. You’re with me now, and that’s enough for me."
Kai looked up, meeting his father’s eyes. "Dad, Bast gives me a good life. He’s always trying to give me happiness."
Takeshi said nothing, only looking into those innocent eyes. Then he pulled Kai into a hug and whispered, "Son, don’t leave me alone like your mom did."
Kai hugged him back tightly. "I won’t leave you, Dad."
After a moment, Kai stood and said, "Let’s go, Dad. The family is waiting for us at the dinner table."
Takeshi nodded slowly, "You go ahead. I’ll be there in a minute."
Kai smiled and left the room.
But as the door closed, Takeshi’s smile faded. His thoughts returned to Jennifer. He looked down at his hand, noticing the wedding ring he still wore.
After dinner, Kai returned to his room, feeling a bit exhausted. But just as he stepped inside, Reiji quickly followed him in.
Kai (irritated): "What do you want now?"
Without a word, Reiji grabbed Kai’s wrist and pulled him further into the room.
Kai (pulling back): "What are you doing?"
Reiji (serious): "I want to ask you something."
Kai let out a frustrated sigh.
Kai: "What?"
Reiji (looking into his eyes): "Last night, when I asked who your lover is... you said it’s Sebastian Vaughn. Is that true?"
Kai (calmly): "Yes. It’s true."
Reiji (shocked): "But... he’s your stepdad."
Kai (firmly): "I already told you. He’s my everything. Reiji, go to your room. I’m already too tired to deal with this."
Without waiting for a reply, Kai pushed Reiji out and shut the door behind him.
Reiji stood in the hallway, frozen and confused. His thoughts spiraled.
Reiji (to himself): "How could Kai cheat his mom like that... to have an affair with his stepdad?"
His eyes widened in disbelief.
Reiji: "No... I don’t think Kai would do something like that. He must be lying. Yeah... he’s trying to fool me. But I’m not that dumb."
He chuckled awkwardly to himself.
Reiji (smirking): "Kai must think I’m an idiot... but he doesn’t know I’m smarter than I look."
With that, he walked away, still puzzled but full of determination.
The night was quiet and cold. Inside a private room of the mansion, Takeshi sat with his brother and sister. The tension in the air was thick.
Riko (angrily): "Brother, how could that bastard do this to you? Just say the word, and I’ll kill him myself."
Takeshi (calmly): "Riko, calm down. He’s a business partner now. And you know our rules—business partners are treated like family. I can’t kill him. Not yet."
He leaned back, his voice low and dangerous.
Takeshi: "Once I take all the shares from him... then he’ll see the true side of me."
Just then, there was a knock on the door. A servant entered, bowing quickly.
Servant: "Master, Mr. Sebastian Vaughn has arrived. He’s sitting in the hallway."
Riko’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Riko: "What? How dare he show his face here? In our house?"
Takeshi (coldly): "Riko. Calm down."
Without another word, Takeshi stood and left the room. He walked down the hallway with steady steps and soon saw Bast sitting on the couch. Sebastian looked calm, his aura as charming and confident as ever.
Takeshi entered and sat on the couch opposite him.
Takeshi: "Why are you here?"
Bast (smiling): "I know it’s rude to come to someone’s house without an invitation... but I have my reasons. And you know exactly what they are."
Takeshi: "You can’t meet him."
Bast raised an eyebrow, unfazed.
Bast: "Do you really think that will stop me?"
Takeshi gave a silent signal to the servant. The man bowed respectfully, then poured wine into two glasses and handed one to each of them.
Takeshi (after taking a sip): "Sebastian Vaughn... tell me about the first time you met Jennifer and Kai. What kind of problems was Jennifer facing back then?"
Bast sipped his wine and set the glass down.
Bast (smirking): "After I meet Kai tonight, I’ll tell you everything. But for now, I can’t wait any longer to see my baby."
He stood up confidently.
Takeshi exhaled through his nose, trying to contain his anger. He gave another sharp nod to the servant.
Takeshi (low voice): "Show him to Kai’s room."
The servant led Bast down the quiet hallway and stopped in front of a room.
Servant (bowing): "This is the young master’s room, sir."
Bast: "You may go."
The servant bowed again and walked away quickly. Bast stood in front of the door for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, silently, he opened the door and slipped inside, gently closing it behind him.
The room was dimly lit. Kai lay on the bed, sleeping peacefully under the warm glow of a bedside lamp. Bast’s usual calm and composed face melted into something softer—filled with emotion. The sharp edges of anger and pride faded away. Only love remained.
He walked quietly to the bed and sat beside him. Two long years had passed since he’d last seen Kai. His chest ached. Carefully, he raised a hand and gently patted Kai’s head, brushing back a strand of hair.
Bast (whispering, voice thick with emotion): "There was a time... I thought I’d lost you forever."
His fingers moved softly through Kai’s hair, and tears welled up in his eyes. He didn’t stop himself from feeling it all—grief, love, relief.
Suddenly, Kai stirred. His eyes blinked open, adjusting to the dim light. Then he saw him.
Kai (softly, stunned): "...Bast?"
His eyes widened in disbelief.
