Chapter 41: His Creations {1}

I heard my curtains being zapped open but I remained wrapped around my blanket not feeling the need to get up. I didn’t have a wink of sleep after what happened, I couldn’t possibly find sleep, I kept replaying my encounter with William last night, I can’t get the scene out of my head as well as the words he said to me. I had no idea why I felt hurt by that, it didn’t make sense at all, I have heard worse when I was cast aside and called an omen... this just hurts differently for a reason I can’t describe.

More importantly, I kept thinking of his sad eyes... they hurt deeper than the words he said to me.

"Young miss"

I heard Elvenia behind me with her usual stoic tone. "It’s time to get up"

I said nothing and remained where I was without moving.

"Are you sick?"

Another silence and then a sigh came off her, well that was new.

"Elvenia" I began.

"Yes, young miss?"

"Why does the master wear a mask?"

This time silence came from her so I was forced to get up and face her, her stern expression was on me and it didn’t seem like she planned to speak with me, does she hate me or something? I have never gotten a friendly gesture from her, only Severus, and Sophia recently... who I rarely saw, were nice to me... Elvenia was a different case entirely and a mystery... She gives off that vibe a lot.

"I-I know you do not like me"

"You’re mistaken... I never said that Young miss" her tone laid confident, but there was a hint of something, like a hidden feeling she kept masked up.

"But you act like you do," I interjected.

She looked to the side and then back to me like she was thinking of what to say next. "I need to get you ready, please don’t delay" she changed the topic too quickly.

"I won’t until you answer my question"

She sighed again almost like I was overbearing. I would have just spared myself the trouble and asked Severus who was at least nice to me. Call me silly but I wanted to be on speaking terms with Elvenia so this might be the step... I hope so or I was just silly.

"You know" I began pulling my knees to my chest. "I went outside last night... and..." I bit my bottom lips. "I saw William... without his mask"

"WHAT?!" She yelled, slamming her hand on the bed and leaning toward me, it made me jump. I stared at her with wide eyes. This was the first time Elvenia had acted in such an informal way.

Realizing what she has done she cleared her throat and straightened up.

"Young miss..." she began with clenched teeth like she was refraining from exploding again. "What do you mean you saw the master without his mask?!"

And then a chuckle left me, this was probably not the right time for this but I couldn’t help it. "It’s nice seeing you this way" I mused.

She blinked and raised an eyebrow.

"You’re always so stern" I added and then my smile faded.

"Young miss"

I darted my sad eyes at her.

"It’s dangerous to see the master without his mask"

I frowned. "W-What do you mean?"

She sighed again. "I’m not supposed to say or even talk with you, whatever the case may be... you should be lucky you’re still alive"

I am utterly confused now. "Please Elvenia can you tell me? I feel like I must have done something wrong, he was angry, and that scares me"

The mere thought of it caused an inferno within me, not of anger but panic... deep panic.

"The Master’s a calm man" She looked to the side as if in thought. "It would take a storm before he strikes wrath" She closed her eyes before flicking them open and back to me. "Of course, if he’s angry you have done something wrong"

Why do I have a feeling she sounded pleased by it?

I felt a sharp pain in my chest. "William is angry with me" I mumbled to myself. "W-Why?" I mumbled more like a daze. My head was too loud.

"You shouldn’t have seen him without his mask"

"Why?!"

She opened her mouth but then she closed them. Why won’t she tell me anything?

"I have to get you ready... you will be late for your studies"

I stared at my book not feeling the need to read, I hadn’t seen Severus for the day so I read alone, but this wasn’t helping me at all, I felt like something wasn’t right, not seeing William wasn’t right... What should I do when I see him? He could still be angry with me. I shook my head, but either way, staying here like this was already torture for me, Elvenia won’t tell me anything so maybe I should find out myself.

I shut my book and rose to my feet, my hands in a tight knuckle at my side. I took a deep breath and walked toward the direction of William’s office.

My heart beat racing as I took each step, it was taking too much of a toll on me, should I really go to him? I stopped at the question in my head, what if he says hurtful words again and I can’t handle it? What should I do? I was scared and confused.

"Young miss?"

I turned and found Severus walking up to me with a smile on his lips as always. "Aren’t you supposed to be studying?"

"Well, I um" I looked sideways.

"Perhaps you could assist me with this" He pointed to the floating tower of books behind him. "They all need cataloging you see, it’s important you know how to do that too"

"O-Okay"

His smile broadened.

I assisted Severus with cataloging, he taught me how to. I speak to the books and they go into the place they should be, it was quite fun and an easy job.

"You’re a librarian?"

"Yes, not just a Butler but I work here too, It’s an honor," he says.

And I became more curious.

"There was a time Will- I mean master said you were one of his creations"

"Ha yes I am"

"That would make him a god wouldn’t it?"

He snickered at my words. "Because he IS a god, young miss" He placed one of the books on the shelf. "A demi-god to be precise"

"Demigod?"

"Yes, Part god, a rare species... because there has never been one before in our realm, that is what makes him powerful, he’s a special bloodline like you"

"A mixture of two different species"

"Exactly,"

I see... We were the same but yet so different, I knew I was a mixture of a human and Sprite blood then what is William’s mixture? And what makes him godly?
