Chapter 34: Losing Focus

’I’m not a tool’

’That should happen when feelings are involved, I don’t know much about this but I believe that is the right way,’

Those words kept ramming through his brain at every thought, it made him lose focus on everything. He was at an edge when she called his name, his beast was stricken by that and the action caused heat to churn his body, he knew having a mate will call for things he never considered and wanted.

His initial goal was to find a fairy as the prophecy proclaimed... ’A fairy shall reunite all’ but who knew that particular fairy will end up being his mate and who he was destined to be with for all eternity, he never thought he would find his mate in the first place for that was the least of his worries, the only thing he ever wanted, what he truly desired and hoped for was his family...

His hand subconsciously tightened on his book, so why was this fairy messing with his brain? Basker has not mentioned this but did that damn old man know?

He could already picture his expression if he was still alive, the root face laughing hectically as he lay confusion over everything.

"Basker... this is not some joke," he said out loud to the library, even though Basker was gone his spirit still remains here so he always had a feeling he was watching or listening so he sometimes talked to it when he was alone. But he knew Basker... he never does anything without foreseeing it or without a reason. There was a reason for this... why this fairy turned out to be his mate.

What on earth was he supposed to do with her? Yes, he shall fulfill his duty to his mate, be with her and make babies, wasn’t that the point of having a mate? A destined partner? He has read books on these too for he wields all knowledge so there was nothing he does not know.

A mate... was a soulmate to a supernatural being that involves a magical, biological, or other contrivance that determines the romantic pairings... compelled by fate to be together, it is also a blessing.

It began when the first gods came to be and blessed their descendants with a fated partner, that was when the soulmate began in every realm, a coupling of two joined as one until eternity do they apart, a most common thing in the magical world.

So What else but that? She talks about feelings before consummation, feelings? Wasn’t he being as understanding enough or considerate, or perhaps was he too blunt? gods! He slammed his palm on the table and the sound echoed throughout the entire library.

"Master?"

He turned to Severus who was before him now... wearing not his usual amused look but a worried one.

"Is everything alright?"

William said nothing and Severus respected his silence and bowed before leaving him be.

He should be engrossed with work but she was in his thoughts, this is not helping him perform his duties, as the arbiter of this library there was much to be done. He needs to find a way to get rid of these annoying thoughts that keep messing with his head. Maybe his suggestion for consummation was a bad idea for she was not ready. Yes... maybe that is the case, he was too forward, and the girl has only been here for 2 months. He let his beastly desire get the better of him... He needs to clear his head, maybe a run will do the trick.

The sooner he gets a clear head the better, he has work to do and the library is of utmost importance.

I was fed tonic the entire day and porridge was brought to me. I was bathed and dressed but brought back to William’s chambers, why? Shouldn’t I be recuperating in my own chambers and not his? But it seemed like the order was already given.

So the entire day I just sat on the bed with my knees to my chest staring at the wide window that has a balcony, I didn’t notice it before because the curtains were over it but it was open today, it was dark now so I can’t exactly tell what was outside to view. When was the last time I went outside? I was only familiar with the inside of this place.

Dark wallpapers, lit candles, lamps, endless maze, library, paintings, and antiques. I miss the sunlight, I miss the flowers too, I miss the wind against my body and I just feel hollow. I sighed again for the 5th time today and the door opened, gaining my attention.

It opened briefly and I saw no one. I was hoping to see Elvenia or William but a little head poked out of the entrance. Twitching brown fox eyes first grabbed my attention than a small round face.

Sophia?

She gave me an ardent stare and I caught her brown tail wagging back and forth behind her, I just blinked and pondered what she was on about. She suddenly emerged into the room dramatically, her geta shoes making tapping sounds as she walked up to the bed and stood at the foot of it.

There was silence for a minute... I knew she was gonna say something foul or point a finger at me for stealing her ’Muster’ again but the cute little thing poked her index fingers together, and a blush creep on her cheeks.

So cute!!!!

"You’re sick," she pouts.

And I blinked.

"If you’re sick Muster will be sad" she mouths again with her pouting face. "Please get better" she came again.

I couldn’t help it now a smile found my lips. I have only ever received rude words from her or pointing fingers but today she sounded worried for my sake or maybe she was just worried about her master being sad but either way, I welcomed her affections. She looked on the verge of crying now.

I waved a hand to her meaning she could come closer, her ears twitched and there was yet another minute of pause but then her eyes glittered, she took off her geta shoes by waving them off with her little feet and jumped on the bed.
