Chapter 192: A Journey Comes To An End
The smile on my lips was tight against my lips... for this moment was something I wanted to engrave in my brain, a moment I never thought I could experience, but here it was right before my eyes like a dream and the most gorgeous view ever.
Estel was in William’s arms as he gently rocked her to sleep, this moment melted my very heart and I didn’t want it to end.
William placed a kiss on Estel’s forehead.
"Ava," he said, catching my attention and I walked to him close to the crib. I stumbled as his thumb traced the scar on Estel’s little neck, faint but you could tell the line, the mark from which Aldon pressed that dagger on her neck, apparently it healed but the mark remained, her beautiful skin was marked because of Aldon.
"Does it bother you?"
I shook my head, but I quickly remembered he couldn’t see me. "N-No"
"Don’t let it... it’s just a mark, nothing more, understand?" William assured me but the anger in his tone was quite evident. He was just as affected as I was.
"I wish I protected her more, William"
"You’re protecting her more than ever"
I smiled, taking a sleeping Estel from his arms and placing her in the crib.
"William we need to talk"
"You said that before"
"It’s many things... but do you know Estel is the Fairy from the prophecy?"
"I know that much"
I figured he would have deduced that much already.
"It’s funny isn’t it and also dynamic, who knew the prophecy given by Basker was actually my daughter" he mused.
I nodded only.
"And her powers... we won’t know much until she grows up," he adds.
"Aldon said when he touched her he saw a glimpse of the future, apparently he believes she is born with the power of foresight"
"What glimpse?"
"Eyes, breath that breathes fire, scales and wings"
"It’s not subjective"
"Only because Aldon tapped into it, but I believe when Estel can control this power she will see the future William and no magical being have ever done that before, isn’t that risky?"
"I feel it will be... but like I said we won’t know completely until she’s mature and if it endangers her health I will take care of it do not worry" William assured me and I felt slightly at ease. I took his hand and led him to the bed.
"Is there something else, wife? You’re awfully quiet" he asked, puzzled. "Something weighs on your mind" he adds as we both took a seat on the bed. I figured he could tell that much, his read to auras was getting more powerful and I knew with no time William will be able to get by without his eyes easily.
"William," I began gently. "I haven’t had the courage to bring this up because I know it will be very sensitive for you," I said, staring at his blindfold and he raised an eyebrow.
"In the past, remember the Aldon’s journal I told you about? That allowed me to see the truth?"
He gave a nod.
"I didn’t explain how I had help with it,"
"You said an Emperor from a Realm, you couldn’t explain more because you were too weak"
I gave his big hand a gentle squeeze. "That Emperor, William, he rules the Darkmore Realm"
William stilled at my words, his lips parted but no words came off him.
"The Emperor is your father William... he helped me out and I never knew who he really was until I regained my memory. And the striking resemblance was something else, I was too naive to tell then"
William was silent and said nothing and I pondered what he could be thinking right now, I could have told from his eyes but right now I can’t.
"When Estel grows up" I looked to her crib and a smile found my lips. "She will reunite you with your parents, how do you feel? Having a lifetime journey finally achieved?"
"I-I don’t know," he said, running his hand through his silver hair. "I have never met them before and I don’t know how to feel"
"Your father, William, he’s just like you, cold and dark but has a warmth to him, he’s a wonderful Emperor and if it wasn’t for him I would have died, he gave me a week of grace and it was because of him I came back to you"

After hearing everything Ava said, William didn’t exactly know how to feel at that moment, a journey he had gone through for as long as he could remember will be finally met and what more... His wife had an encounter with his father in the past and the way she speaks about him with so much respect, William could tell his father was a great man indeed, just like Basker always told him.
But still, he couldn’t shake this tightened feeling in his chest. In a few years he will get to meet his parents, and William wasn’t sure he was prepared for that. He felt hesitant and he didn’t want Ava to know.
She sounded happy for him and asked how he felt about it. Any normal person would be engraved with joy when they get to hear about their parents but in William’s case, he doesn’t know what to feel.
A family he has never known before... How will he deal with it?
"William"
He felt her tender touch on his cheek turning his head to face her.
"I don’t think I want to meet them"
There was a pause from her and he couldn’t exactly tell her reaction right now. He had a certain feeling she must be shocked he has said such a thing.
"I understand," Ava said softly and her voice, gods, her voice calmed his very soul and took his worries away. "I’m right here with you alright? This is something you need to ponder and come to terms with it, the prophecy only states you reunite with them, the rest is your choice"
She wasn’t pressuring him or disgusted about him not wanting to meet his parents, instead she was together with any decisions he makes.
"How do you think of this, Ava... if you were in my shoes and suddenly you..." he paused, unable to finish as his teeth clenched hard.
"I will feel a number of emotions just like you do now, and it’s alright to feel that way. Negative and positive"
