Chapter 180: Cradled In Devil’s Arms
Hearing the cries of the life you have nurtured within 8 months was like a new breath of life. I have never felt warmth like never before, like my very soul was uplifted and all the pain I drowned in came to a pause... finally able to hear her, I have brought her into this world and I wanted nothing more than to protect her and ensure she sees only the light.
My Estel Darkmore.
"Ava"
My weak gaze found Adina’s but I was too weak to see properly because my eyelids were heavy. It was blurry but I couldn’t help the smile on my lips as I watched Estel in Adina’s arms, she looked at her like a new hope and that was just what she is.
My hope
My joy
"She’s here" Adina sobbed looking at me with teary eyes and I smiled weakly at her. "She’s so beautiful," she cried.
"Hmm"
My heart instantly cuts when the doors suddenly badge open and alert both of us. A wave of panic washed upon my very body and mind, as I heard haunting footsteps. I wanted so badly to move but I couldn’t... But the presence, it was always that presence, I knew it was no doubt Aldon.
He’s here.
I watched weakly as Adina held Estel in a protective hold as Aldon stalked towards her in haunting footsteps.
I wanted to tell her to run as fast as she can, away from here, but I can’t even find my own voice.
"S-Stay away!" she barked at him. "I won’t let you-" her voice was cut off when an invisible force held her throat and she was choking now. I watched as Aldon took Estel from her and Adina’s body hung in the air, her legs wagging back and forth, her hands placed on her throat like she wanted to relieve the hold but it was futile. She could barely breathe.
She’s choking!
And all I could do was watch, it was horrifying! I simply begged my body to move but I couldn’t, my eyes were growing heavier and I just wanted to slap myself to stay awake.
But I was too weak
Helpless as I watch Adina choked to her death and as if that wasn’t mercy enough, I watch as her body slowly burns by Aldon’s magic.
No
Not again
Adina!
She turned to me with teary eyes and she smiled at me gently even though she was on the verge of burning into nothing, burning alive right in front of me. She may be a ghost, she may be a past long forgotten but she was still someone very much alive to me, and watching her burn right before my eyes was the most painful experience.
It caused my heart to bleed and all I could do was cry as my vision got more vulnerable, and a whimper left me, only that and nothing else.
And the last thing I saw was Adina burning to ashes all over again.

I gasped awake as I emerged from the depths of the water. Seating up instantly and looking at the empty room. I didn’t weigh what is what as I instantly went up on my feet and I noticed my once bloody gown was changed.
"Estel!" I panicked rushing on my bare feet to the door and banging against it, screaming for someone to open the fucking door! But it wouldn’t budge, it was sealed.
Heaving I rushed to the window and bang against the barrier but to no avail and worse I can’t still feel my magic.
"ALDON!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as anger boiled within me. If he touches her or so much as lays a finger on her I will bring hell and make sure both of us burn inside it.
"ALDON!" I wailed, thrashing everything in the room and breaking everything I could see, flinging the chair at the door multiple times and screaming like a mad woman.
Oh, I will go mad alright if someone doesn’t open the fucking door!
"ALDON!"
I heard the door and the only sound echoing was the door being unlocked by the seal and my heaving breath. It flung open and revealed three gallant knights.
"Take me to Aldon right now or heads will roll!" I growled.
They said nothing as they came at me and I attempted to fight them off, but yet again I couldn’t as they held my arms tightly and dragged me out of the tower as I screamed curses at them.
They dragged me into the night, the skies were pitch black but what caught my attention was the full moon, so bright and big that it became the source of light reflecting in every path.
I squirreled further as they dragged me to an all too familiar temple, the Yin and Yang Holy place, built by my people to honor Aldon and me.
The temple was constructed by the finest architects with mesmerizing details in everything and at the center a circle platform with the Yin and Yang symbol engraved into it, but I was ignorant to the view as I settled my dark expression on a standing Aldon holding my daughter.
She’s alive!
I dragged my arms away from the guards who let me go and match away, and I hurried towards the platform, which he stood right on the other side of, but I was instantly stopped by an invisible force, but that didn’t stop me from slamming my fist into it.
"Give me my daughter!"
"Shh" he coaxed looking down at her and I followed. "She has been crying for hours but is finally asleep. He said gently rocking her in his arms. I noticed she wasn’t bloody anymore but instead cleaned and wrapped in a silver velvet blanket.
"She has your eyes" he muses.
I don’t know what his game was right now but I knew I needed to get to her.
"Lift the barrier right now!" I seethed.
"You should be resting, Aveline, you just went through a great deal, and your magic is temporarily blocked"
"I do not care about my pains!"
"But you should... I want you healthy"
"Give me my daughter, Aldon!" I yelled. "Or else I will set my rage on you by a thousand folds!"
"What? Curse me? You and I know that won’t end well for both of us" he mumbled.
"I do not care! Anything to keep you away from her!"
"Will you calm down?"
"CALM DOWN?! YOU MONSTER!" I slammed the barrier and it made a loud echoing sound. "YOU KILLED ADINA!"
"Oh come on she is already dead! I just took back the life I gave her!"
"I will not show you mercy, hell will be only your redemption"
"Redemption?" he began in a stern tone. "My redemption has always been you, it was always you, and yet you gave your all to an avatar of a library who can’t even step out of it!" he seethed as his silver eyes beamed.
"It was never you" I snarled. "And it will never be... as long as I live you will be the dirt and stain I want to get rid of, by burning it out of my soul until ashes be what is left of you"
There was a pause from him and I made sure I burned my hatred right into his eyes, he is my greatest nemesis.
"Estel or not our lifeline is still connected, I die... you die"
"Then so be it... We will both burn in hell for eternity"
"You’re acting irrational, my star"
"DON’T call me that!"
He sighed, he was oddly calm and I didn’t like it, because I knew Aldon being calm was the opposite right now... he should be fuming, he was holding the very child with unspeakable power that will break our bond, and yet he cradles her in his arms so gently that it was impossible to think he was a monster.
"Listen to me Aveline" he began. "I saw something"
I narrowed my eyes.
"When I held her I saw a glimpse and it was impossible" he chuckled to himself.
"What are you saying?!"
"I’m saying your child, Aveline, has blood unlike any other. When I touched her I saw eyes"
Eyes?
"And I saw the breath capable of breathing fire. Scales and wings. I think your daughter has the most powerful foresight I have ever seen and I was able to connect to it and see a vision from the future"
"We don’t see the future, Aldon, there is a limit even to the gods and beings such as us,"
"I’m certain of what I saw!" he hissed. "Your daughter is not the only one who connects all! She’s a soothsayer!" he sighed looking down at her.
"One capable of seeing the glimpse of the future, not even the oldest Sprites who see further can measure up to her, their power is borrowed and their seeing is not as subjective but... Estel is born with this power, the first of her kind"
