Chapter 165: The Story Of Yin And The Fox Guardian {13}

The door spread open and Ava gasped at the majestic view before her, this must be the biggest hall she has ever set her eyes on, In mere awe as she walked along the red carpet at the center, her eyes roaming every pillar. The wide windows and the chandelier holding thousands of candles suspended on the ceiling that was painted like it was depicting a story.

Ava had to stop to let her eyes observe it, there were paintings and she couldn’t take them all.

"It tells the story of the first magical Vampire god"

Ava leveled her gaze and met the Emperor seated on his throne, and it was all deja vu, she didn’t know why but it was oddly the same presence as when William sat on his chair back at the library, it gave the same pulsating vibe... the one of great power.

Like the throne was made for them to obtain, it was like the flashes of William and Nicklaus before her eyes.

But in the Emperor’s case, the gravity of it was enough to make the airtight. Watching this man merely doing nothing but seating on his throne felt like he was a god. Like with just a wave of his hand, he can move mountains, the supremacy of his presence was greater than anything he has ever experienced.

"Vampire god," Ava said looking back up and all was clear to her eyes, the story it depicts... and it was talking about the Emperor. This great man before her.

And the inscription of the name written in a language.

"Magnus," she said. And saying the mere name caused her body to shake.

"You know vampire language?"

"I-I only came across it in a library," she said, only not wanting to dive far for she was afraid if this man knew, he would be a danger to her. No one from the other dimension must know she has come in contact with the Holy Library, because everything William keeps safe will be jeopardy.

"Little one" Nicklaus began, keeping her eyes on her small frame, and she did nothing but she took a gulp, she was intimidated which was a good thing. He was never a good man and his presence always speaks of darkness and nothing else, he was the bringer of it. "I do not trust you"

"I do not trust you too"

Nicklaus’ lips almost tugged in a smile but he held it in. He leaned forward and rested his arms on his kneecaps. "But you’re dying... and a part of me doesn’t want that to happen yet... not until you get the answers you seek" he nods. "You remind me of my little self, I was once your age or rather younger when I went on an impossible journey, a journey of power and it cost me something far greater"

Ava’s eyes trembled at his words, she could feel the gravity of it and underneath it... pain. Such pain from this great man.

"What did it cost you?" She asked softly and his dark green eyes bored into her.

"A son"

Ava opened her mouth but there was nothing she could say, so silence followed until she swallowed the lump in her throat and found the courage to speak. "And you got the power you needed"

"There wasn’t supposed to be a son, child, I may not be the nicest person in the world but I do know how to care for my bloodline"

"If you knew you would have a son would you have done it?"

"Then I would not be sitting on this throne, Ava"

She nods in understanding. "I’m sorry for your loss..."

Nicklaus said nothing as he rose to his feet at his full height. "Your sorry are not needed little one, this is my punishment and I hope one day I shall redeem it"

"If you mind" she began. "For your help, I will help you too, make it equal"

A smile found Nicklaus’ lips now, followed by a chuckle. "Oh and what would your help be? One who is dying?" he mused.

Gulping... She walked up the stairs and stood right in front of the intimidating giant.

"My eyes see all if I want it too, it is limited but I can check if you will get the redemption you need... if you will see your son again"

"And what price will that be?"

"I will merely vanish the next day"

"Then there is no need for your help... if you truly want to see this ’Friend’ of yours then you shouldn’t waste your energy on me"

She opened her mouth to speak but Nicklaus was fast.

"You’re too kind Ava... sometimes it’s not bad to go for what you want rather than satisfying others because you believe you have to. It is one thing to be good and it is another to do it solely because you want people to see you that way"

"I truly want to help you," she admits. Yes, all her life she had to put up an image, be perfect because of the family she was born into, and be the Yin energy everyone truly saw her as. A balance to Aldon.

"I know... But I’m not worth your last bit of energy, save it for when you get your answers and when you return" he said as with a wave of his hand a portal opened beside them.

"My punishment is mine only, little one, I have carried it already for 15 years" he gave way for her to step into it and Ava’s sad eyes just lingered on Nicklaus.

He may be powerful and the bringer of darkness but behind that composed look terrifying look, she could see a father regrettable of his actions and wanted nothing more than to make things right.

"You’re a good man, Emperor, it does not matter what others think, I see you"

He raised an eyebrow. "And you do not have much time," he said, giving a light push on her back as she waggled into the portal.

Darkness again but it was suddenly gone and replaced with a new view.

"I keep the Dark Grimoire in a different dimension, even if you were to betray me and think you can grasp it, you can’t"

"I will not betray you," Ava said truthfully as she faced Nicklaus. "I won’t even live long enough to" she added with a smile and darted her eyes back to the view.

This truly was a dimension of its own.
