Chapter 155: The Story Of Yin And The Fox Guardian {3}

With a smile on her lips, Aveline walked to the place she was certain she would find him, but she wasn’t so sure she would see him there, three years had passed after all. Aveline came to a stop when she spotted William and her face lit up instantly but suddenly fell when she saw a girl next to him.

She had orange blond hair let down in a wave and a hat on of it, she had pointy ears too just like hers and obsidian eyes looked so stunning, just by the feel of her aura, Aveline could feel she was once a butterfly but how did she obtain a human body?

"Here, master"

Aveline heard her say giving William one of the brushes to use, William looked engrossed in his painting and the girl stood next to William where Aveline once stayed and watched William paint but now it was her spot now.

Aveline couldn’t understand the feeling that overwhelmed her, and she didn’t like it because it was foolish of her to feel such a way. It was given that she wasn’t meant for any world except Aethel, that was why her powers were harsh to other magical creatures and not her people.

Being friends with him was doomed from the start, she should have just stayed at Aethel, years have passed already. She drew backwards with her beating heart but she froze when she stepped on a branch causing it to make a loud snap sound. Not bothering to look twice she bolted.

Panting as she ran through the woods, this was always what she does all the time, run away from little things, and this time she didn’t want to run to Aethel but go someplace she could be alone.

She stopped to catch her breath, squatting and trying to breathe properly for her lung felt like collapsing.

"You run so fast"

Gasping... she rose to her feet and swirled to green eyes watching her. William!

William narrowed his eyes as he gazed upon her, the feelings he has felt for years finally subsiding... a feeling like he has been waiting for someone. Is she... that someone?

"Do we know each other?" he asked.

Aveline bit her lip before forcing herself to speak. "A-Ava"

The strong wind came forth and it was just at that minute William’s eyes went wide in realization and everything came to him like a blur of memories, he does in fact know this girl.

"I-"

He didn’t even let her finish because his body moved on his own and before he could process his own actions, he was already hugging her. Aveline stood frozen by a block of ice, the sudden contact was foreign to her, no boy has ever been this close to her except Aldon and it didn’t feel right.

She instantly pushed him off her body with wide eyes.

"It was just instinct!" William said, rushing his words and she noticed something peculiar followed. His ears turned red like he was embarrassed by his own actions.

"I-It okay," Aveline said.

"You can speak English now?" William said impressed and Aveline only nodded.

"It’s okay if you forget me," she began in a heavy tone. "You have a friend now... you should go back to her, I will just leave"

"What makes you think I want you to leave? And are you talking about Elvenia?"

Elvenia was her name.

"Yes"

"Elvenia is just a use to me..."

Aveline paused at his words. "What?"

"I don’t think of her as a friend... she was just a butterfly I encountered and who wouldn’t leave me alone, she was dying so I restored her energy by giving her a name as a blessing, she could have easily left but she insisted she wanted to stay and servant me so I let her"

"People are not uses!" Aveline snapped at him and William was taken aback by her tone. Aveline was always shying away from things and stuttered with every word in what he remembered, but right now he was looking at a different Aveline.

"Ava"

"I do not care if she is your friend, let her be your friend, but don’t treat people like that, please?"

William wanted to say something but nothing came off him, he has never been speechless before. "I-I do not know how to have a friend" he admits.

"Did you ever consider me your friend?" Aveline asked.

William gulped at her words. "At first, I thought you were just a curious creature until I became curious of you too... you were just mere curiosity"

"Is your heart as cold as your aura?" she asked in disbelief at his words, his way of thinking was off the charts.

"You are just curiosity, I never thought of you as a friend"

She huffed at his words.

"That is the truth, Ava"

"A friend is someone who cares about one another, a mutual feeling... but I guess I was the only one who thought of you as a friend for three years"

"I didn’t think of you... I don’t even remember you until now"

"Then why did you hug me the moment you remembered?" she interjected and she met with silence instead.

"Ava" he began. "I’m not someone you can understand..."

"Indeed you’re strange" she admits.

"Then why are you still standing? Why aren’t you running as you should? I just told you are nothing but curiosity for me and nothing else"

But Aveline didn’t want to believe that, the moment she set her eyes on his crystal green ones... her eyes saw it all. "You’re like a cold wall void of emotions, but you do feel sometimes don’t you? Because even though as magical we all seem to be... there’s always a human side of us"

"Show me then"

She paused. "W-What?"

A small smile found his lips. "Show me this human side I might have... the one you see but others don’t"

Aveline thought about his words for a second. "But under one condition"

"And what is that?"

A smirk found her lips. "We become friends"
