Chapter 152: The Boy Who Sought Nature And a Girl Who Sought Freedom
Seven-year-old William could hear the birds chirping, they were loud from the multicolored large window behind him, but he only just focused on his writing, and also scanning the books that lay plenty on his table. Flipping pages countless times effortlessly.
This is every day in young William’s life, if he’s not conversing with Basker he was here all the time and only out when he needed a change of clothes and a bath. The whole 7 years of his life has been the library and he wasn’t complaining, the library itself brought him nothing but comfort.
But sometimes... William wondered what lay outside that forest for he had never descended the mountain before. Basker has told him if he wanted he could go explore but William chose his solitude here.
But this particular day was different for him, especially with the bird’s continuous chirping, it was almost like they were calling for him to go outside or currently distracting him from getting any work done.
Sighing... William decided to drop his quill down and exit the library. He first went to his room to change, wearing an attire that was suitable, and then proceeded to leave the building.
Stepping from the entrance of the library was weird for him, he has never thought to come outside before, the only person he has ever met was Basker and the spirit extension of him who came forth as a female and took care of him while growing up.
This was all too strange for him and he wanted nothing more than to go back to the comfort of the library’s four walls. But still... he wanted to go, so he gathered all his courage and inhaled sharply, and descended the mountain.
The view before William was your typical nature, but this was beyond anything he have ever set his eyes on, the strong wind, the flying flowers that followed it, the birds soaring in the colorful skies, and some chirping on the tall giant trees, the green plants so green that it was almost impossible, it had all the colors a forest should have but it was too colorful and well defined, the waterfalls he spots spilling between rocks, it looked like something straight out of a fairytale book.
William became engrossed with this view and he just stood there for gods know how long... he just took in the captivating scenery. He spotted some pixies flying by and engaging in a talk that sounded like whispers going on.
The moment they turned, catching a whiff of William, how strange he looked, short silver hair. Dressed in a black tailored knee-length coat, gilded black brocade waistcoat embodied with silver design, inner black shirt within, black trousers, and black boots.
But it was the least of their concern... for his aura was what caused fear to grip their bodies. It was too cold and they were almost freezing just by being this close. It was gloomy and dark and caused terror to shake through them like a storm and before they could observe more of the strange boy they fled for their lives.
Puzzled William just stared blankly at them wondering why they fled like some lion was hot on their trail.
It was like this for the day, any magical creature he encountered, mermaids or trolls or any kind just ran for no reason and hid. William wasn’t bothered by this, but he was curious why they ran.
"They are scared of your aura"
He suddenly heard a voice, one whose English was barely prominent because of her thick accent. Out of curiosity from where he sat, he turned to the tree and found someone was hiding behind but wasn’t doing a very good job at it... her little hands could be seen holding the bark of the tree in a firm hold, and her amber hair and her gown were carried by the strong wind.
"Who are you?" William asked.
"Me?"
’Of course who else?’ William thought with a frown.
"I-I’m no one!"
William wasn’t convinced by her words so he rose to his feet. "Are you a magical creature?" he asked, for her aura doesn’t feel like the rest here, and more, she was the only one who has come close, the rest fled without even speaking to him. He heard the mysterious girl mumbling some sort of language under her breath.
"Hey I asked you-"
She bolted, watching her form running down the valley. William just stood there dumbfounded. But then again he wasn’t surprised by her action. William learned one hard truth coming to the forest today, all magical creatures were scared of him.
☆☆☆
But that didn’t stop William from coming the next day, there was something about the forest that brought peace to his soul. In the library, he only smelt books but out here was like a fresh breath of nature and he understood why Basker always urged him to go out. The old man wasn’t much of a talker these days, he was mostly asleep but William knew his energy was getting weaker.
William lay on the grass, hands behind his head and his legs crossed, staring at the moving cloud, enjoying the fresh breath of air he closed his eyes and allowed the birds chirping to fill his senses and calm him. The sun even though at its brightest was strangely cool against his skin and he loved it.
But suddenly he felt a shade covering his face. Puzzled, he opened his eyes and met with a large leaf covering him. He blinked not once... not twice to make sure he wasn’t seeing things but he definitely wasn’t.
With a start he sat up and faced who was responsible, it was a girl just the same age as him with amber hair and vermilion eyes.
"Who are you?" he asked puzzled, was she one of the magical creatures? He thought they were all scared of him but yet here she is.
The strangest girl with the strangest aura.
He sniffed the air around her. "You don’t smell like the others"
Suddenly panic filled her eyes and she bolted before he could say anymore, disappearing into the distance.
’She runs so fast,’ William thought.

The next day young Aveline couldn’t help it, she knew what she was doing was risky and she could get in trouble for it but there was something about this boy’s aura that caught her attention. Ever since the day before yesterday, she wandered into the Elven woods in a means of curiosity, Aldon was busy training with the elders so it was the perfect timing to sneak out.
He never lets her out and told her outside the barrier of the Aethel held nothing but danger but ever since she sneak out she has met no danger, all magical creatures that live here were all welcoming to her, but due to Aveline not knowing how to interact with English and mostly because of her shy nature, she ran away all the time.
It didn’t do any good making friends and she knew that. Aveline was still unable to control her powers of taking memories away; it affects the other magical creatures aside from her tribe, the moment she leaves their presence they all forget.
Even right now she was certain that this boy she watches every day now wouldn’t remember their previous encounter and yet here she was, watching from a distance with a smile on her lips.
He comes often and lays on the grass and enjoys the sun on his skin, out of worry she once covered him up from the shade afraid that his beautiful skin would be endangered and gods his short silver hair was a sight and his crystal green eyes were too beautiful to look away.
Even right now she stared at him dreamily, unable to look away.
One day she tried getting close to him but still remained hidden just in case, she wanted nothing more than to have a closer look.
But one minute she was staring at the beautiful boy staring at the skies and next, she heard a voice behind.
"Who are you?"
She flinched and panic filled her lungs at the closure, as always she wanted to run as fast as she could but a hand on her wrist stopped her and it was like a bolt of electricity flushed through her. With wide eyes, she stared at the boy, and a feeling unlike any other plugged her body.
William stared at the stranger with a tilted head, every day since he began coming to the forest more he always felt someone was watching him, at first he thought it was a magical creature but no he was wrong, it was this particular girl with the strangest aura.
"What is your name?" William was forced to ask.
Aveline’s heart kept beating like it would pulse out of her chest, she kept her wide eyes on the boy, who gave her the most eccentric feeling, a feeling she has never had with Aldon but yet with this beautiful boy.
And it took three words to break the rules and all forces of nature as well as the start of a friendship that transcended time itself.
"I am Aveline"
