Chapter 144: The Tree Blessing Ceremony
Chapter 144: The Tree Blessing Ceremony
"Congratulations your highness! I heard the news!"
I blinked at Adina. "What news?"
"It’s swirling everywhere, about the Union Ceremony after the Tree Blessing, You and Prince Aldon will be official!"
My blood ran cold, the news has spread... already? I quivered.
"Shall we continue?" I said with a forced smile and Adina nodded as we resumed our singing practice. I didn’t want to think about what awaited me, because the more I do, the more anxious I feel and dread pooling like an endless pit, and I can’t contain it.
I don’t know what to do

Aldon has waited for so long and soon his wait will be over but Aveline, barely smiles or speaks to him and spends all her time riding away and keeping herself in the wild or singing instead of spending every waking moment with him. I wanted her closer, in his arms as he tells her stories upon stories and mumbled beautiful things to her ears because she is worth everything.
How her beauty revived no one in this place, how her skin was like the moonlight itself, her lips as pink as the rarest flowers, and her voice, it was truly a masterpiece, everything about her was a masterpiece he wanted to hold onto... He wanted everything about her, all completely tethered to him.
"Par et tes ret tas, Aldon"
(Why haven’t you taken her, Aldon?)
"Ses rar et yue res"
(You need to put a baby in her)
"I heard you the first time" Aldon’s sharp silver eyes darted to the older Elven woman beside him, her looks were one of impatience, when have she not ever looked that way? It was almost as if the expression was permanently plastered on her face.
He shook his head.
"Rap wes tes tau nes"
(Time is against us)
"And we have all eternity," he urged. "She is mine now, not tethered to that world any longer" he waved his hand.
Then she inhaled sharply. "I know, but the more royal bloodline we have the better"
"That is all you and the old folks care about, it’s always about offspring to secure the bloodline, you weighed to my parents like that until their untimely demise"
"Bless their soul"
Aldon sighed and mumbled the same thing. "I want to give her everything and I will, but I need my time with her and the ceremony is the next step, I will have her in my heart, my bed, and heavens... lots and lots of children, satisfied"
She said nothing.
"Alruna"
"I have watched over your parents since birth, my sole duty to make sure their line lasts and then she was pregnant with you, when I felt your energy growing within her, I instantly knew it wasn’t just an Elven baby, but an energy from the beginning," She says as if reminiscing the old times. "And then you were born, our people bask in the joy"
Aldon smiled. "And Aveline came to... my eternal love"
She darted her violet eyes to Aldon. "How sure are you she is no longer tethered to that world"
"She is no-"
"I do hope everything we have sacrificed will not be in vain"
Aldon paused.
"I truly do hope that" She adds.
"Alruna" he mused.
"I may be old but I see through your immortal soul, I see everything"
"I know you do," he cupped her cheeks. "And I assure you everything I have done to get us this far will not be in vain, before your age gets to you I will be sure to secure the royal bloodline and you shall rest in peace"

It was day after day of training until Adina was convinced I was ready, but I have never been more nervous in my life before, the tree ceremony was today, held just at the full moon which was almost out. I stood before my mirror crafted with frames like a leaf, gazing upon the silver slender velvet gown I wore. I was beautiful, I truly am but I can’t bring myself to appreciate it.
I sighed, telling myself to breathe and not freak out and do something that would cause any catastrophe because I felt like exploding. I might ruin this day.
"Aveline"
I heard from the door and turned to see Aldon in a matching color.
"You look glorious," he said breathlessly as his eyes raked my body like he would undress me any minute, I couldn’t mistake how anxiety pooled in my stomach at his lustful eyes but with a clear of his throat, he regain his composure, and stretched a hand for me to take.
"Shall we?"
I was hesitant but took his head as we walked out of the tower and to the forest, a path enlightened by lanterns on the road.
"I’m scared"
"Don’t be"
"What if I mess it up?"
He chuckled. "You won’t, I will be with you every step of the day"
But that didn’t once ease my dread. My nerves spiked when I saw the gathering of others in the same silver outfits but different from mine and Aldon’s... ours shone under the moonlight making us look like divine beings.
We stopped and Aldon placed a tender kiss on my forehead before letting me go. I turned to the singular path leading to a growing tree just about 6 feet. I gulped, clenching my gown before stepping forward.
My bare feet on the grass as I approached the tree with a pondering heart, I was meant to sing any song as long as it holds my energy and the rest does its work. I stood before the tree now inhaling sharply.
I closed my eyes trying to ease my unsteady body, knowing if I kept shaking I could ruin my voice and everything. So I picture the only thing that would give me ease. Crystal green eyes stared at me, silver hair flowing freely over his shoulders, and a smile on his lips that always took my breath away.
I opened my eyes feeling energized and I suddenly felt like I could do anything.
For days I have worked on this song, it was something special and I would like to use it to give this tree a blessing, I named it...
