SILVER-HEART -
Chapter 132: Aveline
Chapter 132: Aveline
I got lost in silver eyes that stared right into my soul... like it could see everything, both good, bad, lost, and forgotten and it caused chills to find my body... it wasn’t the cold air, but this man that stood before me like an entity all on his own, like the very ground was blessed to have him, his presence was too divine to be considered normal.
This man is not normal.
"Y-You" my voice barely came out in a whisper. I was just in too much shock. It was the same man from that night, the supposed elf. His pointy ears, and long dark amber hair, were kept straight and flawless, and not a single hair was out of place. His silver eyes glowed, like the moonlight itself. His attire was a matching silver attire, a velvet cloak, the hood of it covering the top of his hair.
Around his head was a matching silver crown, like a single thick string and curved like a leaf at the center
A smile graced his beautiful lips, one that got my legs weak and his unreal voice came too... It was too angelic. "Hello Aveline" he mused.
Aveline?
That name... and then it struck me, our last encounter.
’The tune... Ava, listen more closely and you will know what it means’
His parting words to me before I fainted but now replaying it in my head as well as that scene, I got a clear sound of it.
’The tune... Aveline, listen more closely and you will know what it means’
He called me Aveline... that was what he called me and not Ava.
"Aveline?" I frowned and his smile only broadened. He said nothing as he took a seat on the bench and relaxed on it. He looked to the side... a motion for me to take a seat too, I gulped slowly doing so and keeping my eyes on him, we remained like that almost like there was nothing to be said, and yet our eyes would speak.
There was some sort of understanding, I cannot explain it. I was the first to break the heavy silence.
"W-Who are you?"
"I’m guessing you know that now, the last time you called me a..." he paused like he was thinking. "A butterfly?"
I blushed feeling the embarrassment overcome me and I leveled my gaze. "I apologize for that, You’re an elf aren’t you?"
He nods and keeps his gaze on me almost like he couldn’t look away.
"I thought your kind don’t exist anymore"
"Exist?"
"There was no record, if you exist or not"
He nods looking at the view. "Exist or not, we still remain"
I blinked, puzzled at his words.
He looked back at me. "Tell me, Aveline, have you found out why the tune sang to you?"
"It was from the Isle of Pathways"
Why do I feel so comfortable speaking with him? Like I could tell him all my worries without batting an eye.
"And where did the path lead?"
"A forgotten memory," I said, only not wanting to drive further.
"Is there more you wish to tell me, Aveline, I’m all ears... after all, you’re the one who called me here?" he shrugged those broad shoulders of his.
I frowned. "What do you mean that I called you here?"
Did I?
A hot chill flowed through me when he placed his hand on my shoulder and I froze in place, his thumb stroking my birthmark behind, and an unexplainable feeling swamped my insides. I had to close my eyes because the feeling was too pungent.
"You bear my mark Aveline, I will always come when you need me"
His voice echoed directly to my ears. And I flashed my eyes open, he already pulled away and was now standing, hands behind his back as he observed the stars.
"The stars are one of my favorites," he says but mostly to himself, I rose to my feet and stood beside him.
"I once had the star in my hands" he mused facing me.
"R-Really?"
"The most beautiful of them all"
I gulped. "You said this mark is yours? My birthmark?"
He narrowed his eyes. "Are you still confused, Aveline?"
"C-Confused?"
"About who you are?"
I paused looking sideways. "I don’t know who I am" I admitted, it was an answer I was yet to find and the more I think about it the more I get lost and confused.
I felt a hard on my chin lifting it so that my gaze was back to his, he leaned close to me and I held my breath.
"I will tell you who you are, for I’m your past, present and future"
I wanted to ask what he meant but his gentle grip was gone.
"Walk with me Aveline," he said, going ahead but stopping and facing me with a raised eyebrow when I didn’t move. "You do not trust me" It wasn’t a question but a statement.
"I feel like I can trust you"
I don’t know why... There was something about him, something that called all my attention and it was an eccentric feeling. I felt like I had some sort of connection with him. A pull... like a thread.
"What does your body tell you?"
"My body wants answers"
He smiled. "Then you know your answer" he walked and before I knew it I took a step and followed.
"What is your name?"
"I’m hurt, Aveline, you do not know my name" he teased and I blushed once again.
"I’m sorry... I know you want me to know you but I don’t", I didn’t know why but I felt guilty.
"It’s okay, I understand why you do not remember me, and I am glad to let you know me again"
I smiled.
"I’m Aldon"
"Aldon," I said. He has a wonderful name and it suits him perfectly.
"You have so much to ask, don’t you?" he says tilting his head to the side, his smile has never once fallen since he set his eyes on me, it was almost like he derived joy in seeing me.
"My mark" I began. "You said it belongs to you?"
"Yes it does"
I suddenly halted and he did too, watching me.
"You gave it to me?"
He smiled only but said nothing as he continued his walk and I followed. "I crafted it against your delicate skin, you were perfect and your body deserves nothing but perfection, everything you contain was mine to have, and everything that made you was all for me. But it seems... a certain Fox guardian has claimed ownership of what does not belong to him"
I instantly stopped and I swallowed a lump in my throat.
"My last encounter with him showed me just how much he holds you dear, a real shame"
"What do you mean?" It was a whisper from me and he faces me still keeping that smile on his lips.
And then he declared words that made me tremble, not out of fear, but mostly like I could feel the very truth coming from them, and it was what scares me... the truth.
"No matter how long you wish to be of this world you cannot remain. No matter how many times he keeps you glued to his side. You will still find your way to your people"
"I speak only of the truth, Aveline. William Basker Darkmore knows better than to meddle with Elven Blood, he’s beneath you and you’re beyond him,"
"Why are you saying this?" I quivered for his once soothing words and voice now brought me pain. My chest squeezed so tightly and for a minute I felt like I cannot breathe.
He closed the distance between us and placed a hand on my cheek. "I do not mean to make you sad nor is it my intention to cause you to be in pain"
"Then that is what I am isn’t it?" My lips quivered. "I’m an elf, your kind"
"No my precious, you are far greater than that, and I’m your destiny, one you cannot run away from"
I gasped when he leaned to me, our faces inches apart. "I will have you back in my arms, where you truly belong"
"Aldon"
"The voices of your people shall sing to you... that will be the first sign"
He pressed his lips against mine.
And I awoke like I was deep underwater, my breathing hitching, my body trembling. I panicked looking around and I found I was in my chambers. Confusion struck me and I couldn’t stop shaking and my head was louder. Thoughts swirling that would soon overcome my body as I tried to make sense of anything at all, for it felt like I had hit a blank void and I sought to find myself.
And then images clicked in like it was burned in my body and soul, unable to be lifted. More importantly, I felt my lips, and I shivered, reminiscing everything. With a single question ravaging within me like a brewing storm.
Was it all a dream?
’Between you and I, Aveline’
The last of his words echoed in my head.
