SILVER-HEART
Chapter 124: Progress

Chapter 124: Progress

The sound of the culinary echoing around the hall, the soft chewing of food, and all William did was watch and bounce his knee beneath the table. His blood riling up every minute and his body goes rigid with every impatience.

’Say something’

’Anything!’

But yet the cat got his tongue... He can’t even find his own words, only stare at her and appreciate every single thing she embodied, and make his torture worse just like the fool he has become he was silent all through, even as she wiped her mouth with the napkin after being done and walking out.

So much of being bold and taking a step, this was just like any other day with no progress. He cannot go on like this, he mentally told himself... but making a move became something entirely impossible because he could still remember the look she gave him, the lifeless dark look as if he had just shattered her heart and her whole world.

His OWN world is shattering, if he doesn’t hear her voice he would be a dead man. So he started another approach again, at her table in the library he would drop a book about the magical world each day, mostly the ones she couldn’t get her hands on and ones that would tell what he was...

The two beasts he embodies, this was a gesture of some sort of submission, to render himself to her in some way, call it foolish but he wanted to lessen her curiosity, Ava was a whole different person when she’s curious and when she quenches it she finds relief and it makes her feel better. So it was a nice approach in his case.

Not until he came back to the desk and the books he left remained untouched, he would know when she had read them, her luxurious scent would linger on them, but they remained blank. William found this heartbreaking but he didn’t give up on his little approach, he kept leaving book after book, placing them in order at the side of her desk and marking out each one and what it contains so that it would gain her interest in some way.

It went on and on until it was a week after his attempt and her table were piled with a number of books, but William didn’t care, he still came with another and much to his surprise that particular day, he noticed some books have been touched, it wasn’t the exact order he has left them and to be more interesting one was on her desk and bookmarked in a way that she would continue the next day.

William couldn’t fight the smile that came on his lips.

’Progress’

He still attended breakfast and dinner. Just silently sitting at his side of the table and observing her eat but he didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable to the point she would no longer come so he settled for reading a book each time and telling a lie that he was basically reading but he kept his entire focus on her.

Everything’s about her, and each day it felt more consumed in her essence. The way she would eat her food gently, licking her lips, her simple actions that were innocent and yet seductive. Picturing how those lips would be on him and reminiscing how they taste on his.

A whole month

A whole fucking month

This dispute between them needs to end, he was getting vexed each day, he could still remember Severus telling him to calm down, telling him to be patient, saying ’My lady’ will come around, give her time.

So William just focuses on Severus’ words to calm his already aggravated body and his hunger.

His untamed hunger increased with every passing day. The first and most important was to get her to speak to him, to hear her voice.

William basked in relief whenever he came to her desk and found that she had begun reading the books, even writing down some things, his smile never ceases whenever he comes to her desk at night, simply imagining as she would go through the books in deep concentration and write with her quill.

’Her handwriting is still as messy as ever,’

But the hideous thing was considered cute to him... even if he could barely read what she wrote, he was a man of knowledge, any language in the entire universe was known to him and yet he cannot read something as simple as this. He almost chuckled at the thought.

Little things matter

That was something William was getting to understand, he has grown up thinking he can have anything he wants, he easily gets what he wants and doesn’t need to work for it, but not until Ava.

She wasn’t only acting stubborn but making William put effort into something, even though he considered it annoying he still does this and still hopes for even a gesture from her, anything! She hasn’t met gaze with him, the whole time keeping her eyes lowered. He misses her eyes, her voice and her touch, her giggles, and most especially her smile.

She hasn’t smiled since

Always keeping an emotionless expression. His sweet sweet Ava. The very catalyst of his opaque desires.

"Are you a vampire?"

Her sudden question took him off guard to the point he froze for a minute, it took everything in him before he shifted his gaze from the book he pretended to read and directed it across the table of food and then to her beautiful brown eyes staring at him.

She’s looking at him, holding his gaze, LOOKING at him.

gods he misses her eyes! The loving look too... like he was the only man on earth... but she didn’t exactly give him that look, the one that would make her eyes sparkle, instead the look she gave him was only one of curiosity and nothing else.

But that’s okay, she spoke to him and looked at him, that IS progress, he couldn’t fight the small smile on his lips as he answered.

"Yes"
