Chapter 117: The Northern Wing

Chapter 117: The Northern Wing

As much as William would love to bask in the feel of watching his beloved sleep and let his hands careless her soft skin and listen to her steady heartbeat, he would skip it for just tonight.

So the moment he laid her on the bed and tucked her in until she was comfortable he walked out of their chambers, Severus was already waiting for him with a lamp.

He bowed the moment he set his eyes on his master coming out of the chambers. William spared no words as he walked ahead and Severus followed behind, they walked their way to the library but still went deeper, passing through the trillions of shelves, but for them, it was nothing but a sport. Until they got to a large door, bigger than any in this castle, and reached the very ceiling of the hall.

William stood before the door, his crystal gaze fixated on it before he closed his eyes and the sound of his ever slow beating heart echoed in the hall, before picking up in pace unnaturally.

☆lub-dub☆

The dark giant door sensing the beating heartbeat of the arbiter and master of this place, unlocked, the mere sound echoing in the entire area.

The large design just at the center of it, like a keyhole, moved, the spirals and circles shifting and giving way, responding solely to William’s loud heartbeat, and then a dividing came and the doors spread open with a loud sound.

William and Severus walked through it into a whole new library altogether, but this library was different for it is the Northern Wing for Forbidden Knowledge and hence the name the entire library was made of nothing but frozen ice, even the shelves reaching the same frozen ceiling, the chairs frozen ice too. The books kept on the ice shelves were enclosed in blocks of ice matching each size, it was a seal placed on them because some books not read are powerful and gave off aura enough to harm any mystical creature.

They were just as dangerous, but here they kept safe and out of reach.

William took his seat at the spot reversed for him, a large icy seat just like his back at the other library.

This place was the very center of the Holy library and a secret no one knew existed, it was one of the most important of places Basker told him to look after. Because forbidden knowledge was mostly more sorted out in all the realms.

The only forbidden knowledge that has made its way out of here was the Dark grimoire taken into the care of by Magnus.

Severus placed the lamp on the ice table, the flame long since extinguished the moment they walked in there.

"Bring me your findings" William commands and Severus bowed, walking to get what he had uncovered in the past few days.

It was now laid out on William’s desk, books with pages looking as old as they were, with writings that would take a closer eye to look through.

"The Elves" Severus began in a firm tone. "They are not only the first habitant of this dimension but they are also creators"

"They created the Sprites," William said reading through the inscriptions. "In their own image," he murmured the rest of the writing.

"Yes, this is why there are some qualities of the Sprites that are alike to them," Severus said. "They are holy founders of this very forest, house to all magical species"

"Their existence?

"I’m still unable to find info on that"

"Then why in hell’s name did I see an elf?" William said with clenched teeth, the mere memory of it aggravating him, the arms of that elf around his wife that he wanted so badly to rip off. If only he did that then perhaps some sort of satisfaction would have been there.

"I believe they do exist in this dimension but in another plane, this might be their forest but they must have a country here or something"

William leaned back on the seat, his arms resting on the armchair. "I thought of that too... Basker said I shouldn’t meddle with them," he directed his gaze from the scattered books to Severus. "I guess it’s too late for that now"

He gulped. "If My lady truly is one of them why haven’t they come to her?"

Suddenly the air grew chilly than it was before and with clattering teeth Severus spoke. "F-Forgive m-me master but I mean I read just how much they cherish their kin, and like to keep their kinds to themselves"

The air temperature went up and Severus sighed in relief, that was the first time he has ever seen his master lash out and his silent nature only made it worse, it caused a chill to run through his spine.

"I don’t know," William said suddenly, tensed they would come to take her or she will leave again.

William turned his attention to the ice orb on an ice-crafted stance, pressing his palm on it a blurry image came from his chambers, his sleeping wife coming into view. Even here right now he longed to be in her arms, to hold her, to listen to her heartbeat and then the mumbles she made in her sleep. It was like each time he spent away from her was far too long... even now he longed for her like an insane creature.

"She still hasn’t told me about her dream, her last passage to the Isle of Pathways, what it showed her at the end, she is hesitant and I can sense her fear, something is wrong"

Severus had never seen his master look distraught. When he was told of the Lady dreaming of the Isle of Pathways he was shocked, that place was nonexistent and held power and mysteries, no one, absolutely no one has ever made contact with that place, and yet the place called to the Lady, for a reason unknown to them.

"Master" Severus began feeling hesitant but he knew it was about time he said it, it was hanging in the air for far too long. "When will you begin your task to find a Fairy?"
