Moving inside the room, Noah slowly reached the empty seat beside Ameliana. And with the silent nod of Saintess Alicia, he sat and patiently waited for them to speak.

"I heard you fought against a devil today."(Saintess Alicia)

Noah nodded at her words, making her sigh before a smile formed on her face.

"Good job. Even though it was a lesser devil, it was still something remarkable. I will compensate you with additional 100 Gold coins for it. Consider it a price for the extra trouble you went through."(Saintess Alicia)

Noah and Elios’ eyes widened at the same time at the amount that was given to them. Still Noah maintained a neutral face as he accepted the reward.

"You don’t seem to be too much surprised about it."(Saintess Alicia)

She observed his face and the lack of any reaction on it, made her smile a bit. The corner of her lips curled a little, as the smile turned into amusement.

"Cough."(Head Priest, Markus)

And then as the head priest interrupted the chat, Saintess seemed to be recalling something before her eyes turned serious again.

"Elios. I have heard that you are adept with curses. Ameliana told me about your expertise regarding curses and how you used special properties of curses to increase your own physique momentarily."(Saintess Alicia)

Noah had already told Ameliana about how he could perform those extraordinary feats despite his physical limitations. It’s because of his understanding of curses and the way he can manipulate it somewhat to his convenience.

It really did amaze Ameliana given how difficult it was to manipulate a curse, much less creating a suitable one.

Personally, Ameliana’s mastery lay in the dark arts, which involved channeling dark mana according to her will. And since curses were a different branch of dark magic, she was much less adept in those things. Hence she was amazed that Elios can do all that without any source whatsoever.

A true Genius.

Noah nodded at Saintess Alicia’s words before she continued her word with the same serious tone as before.

"So. Here is the thing. One of our top students ended up getting cursed by a dark mage during an expedition to a nearby town. Though we were able to bring her back, the curse was too tricky for us to deal with."(Saintess Alicia)

Noah raised an eyebrow to that. If it was so difficult that even a saintess was unable to do anything, why would they believe that he could do it.

And understanding Noah’s worries, Ameliana answered first.

"It’s not that the curse is a high level but it’s more of a complex type. It has changed the basic anatomy and physiology of the student in such a way that now she is only alive because of the curse. If we remove the curse she dies, and if we try to change the anatomy and physiology back to the right position, the curse shifts it making it even more complex than before."(Ameliana)

"Not only that, if we try to purify only parts of the curse, then it activates the pain receptors, enough that the student is unable to take it anymore. We tried it once and... it wasn’t really pleasant. I am afraid, there is no next time."(Ameliana)

The Head priest nodded before adding,

"Since the curse will eat her out in the next 24 hours, we were going to use [Purify] the highest level of magic to save her. But since that spell takes more than 20 priests, and can be used only a month, there was some resistance from the priests given the safety of the temple."(Head Priest, Markus)

"But then Miss Ameliana suggested we let you try it. So... Can you do it?"(Lucas)

As they all finished speaking their piece, Noah pondered about this whole scenario. Truthfully speaking, his new skill should allow him to manipulate the curse if it isn’t too powerful.

[Will it be all right to show our mastery to such an extent?](Elios)

That’s the question that Noh had too.

While saving a life is good and all but a bright fire attracts moths too. Though it wasn’t a question of whether he should save the life or not because he was going to do it, but the way to do it... he needs to be careful with that.

"It can be done but... "(Noah)

Noah pretended to think as a grimace appeared on his face.

And then he continued,

"I would need some compensation in exchange."(Noah)

Before anyone can say anything Noah added,

"I don’t know if I can manipulate that particular curse but I can probably take it within me. And then slowly dissolve it with time... but I am not going to do it for free."(Noah)

A silence ensued for a few minutes as Noah then explained in a bit more detail.

"Outside the body, it is difficult to control the curse but if I can bring it within my own body, I can slowly dissolve it using light magic while manipulating it using the dark magic. Since I have cursed myself many times before, I am confident I can do it. Though, there could be side effects based on the curse level itself. I hope you can understand why I am asking for compensation."(Noah)

Saintess Alicia nodded as she answered,

"Even if you hadn’t asked for it, we would have given you something. Don’t worry. As long as the task is completed, we will provide you with anything we are capable of doing so."(Saintess Alicia)

"I will be there with you along with Saintess Alicia in case things go wrong. And at worse we will just use [Purify] on you since that’s what we were going to do anyway."(Head Priest, Markus)

As the conversation slowly drifted to smaller topics like what if things go wrong and how to deal with it, Elios began wondering what kind of reward they should ask for.

They don’t need to go overboard but if there was one thing that Elios wanted at any cost...

[I wonder if we can ask for that...](Elios)

Looking at the sheepish message, Noah sighed before following the head priest and the others towards the place where that student was.
